    None. Don't care about celebrities.

We picked ones that we blog about or find entertaining so....many musicians such as Rachael Cantu, Tegan and Sara, Ra Ra Riot, Char2D2, Sick of Sarah, Hesta Prynn, etc. Plus President Obama, Rachel Maddow, and I'm sure there are more....
  5. crpitt
Stephen Fry, because I find him fascinating.
  6. timethief
None. I have no interest in celebrities and they do not appear to have an interest in my blogs so I don't follow them.

I don't follow twitter but maybe I should. It'd be interesting if any celebrity mentioned my name or blog.
  20. Stillthinking
I don't know if they count as celebrities as they are bloggers and journalists: Rachel Maddow, PRI, Jim Algers, TommyXtopher.

Just for fun, I follow Adam Shankman, Sockington the Cat, Ashton Kutcher, Perez Hilton.
  21. ThriftShopRomantic
    Stephen Fry and Jasper Fforde
  22. NatetheGrate
Why would you follow ANY celebrities on Twitter? Most of the time, they hire someone else to write their tweets. So, you aren't talking with them anyway. Why not just try to live a normal life and enjoy simple things instead of kissing some famous people's . . . feet.
    1. Shiley
Just depends. From a journalistic point of view if you can get a story first then that means you've made it to the beat before the broadcasters do.
  23. PotatoChef
I made a comment about a celebrity on BC once and about 5 minutes later got an invite to add him on Twitter. I have never actually seen him post anything on Twitter...very odd!!!
  24. PetLvr
All the people I follow are celebrities - especially the ones from BlogCatalog!

But, if curious one can always check out who I follow and if you see anybody interesting .. follow them yourself! (following over 4000 people now)

pick a random number between 1 and 202

I was always curious, how can one keep up with so many tweets? Can you honestly say that you follow anyone with such a number?
    2. PetLvr
Albran .. tweets are just one sided conversation and nobody is online tweeting 24/7. You have to be able to weed out the noise .. For instance, people are talking all the time and I see everything when I am looking. If something interests me, I follow all sides of the conversation of the tweeters tweeting, not that that is spewed into the public timeline.

If I see nothing immediately I still search for topics that I'm interested (I also have hashtags created on my start page to follow topics regularly) and watch the people talking.

If I have a question, and need to find out something on the search engines, I might tweet the question and then go do some searching, and yet find some results back to me before I even finish with google etc.

Also, I stumble and lot and see lots of sites and pages, it's nice to use the Twitterbar to tweet interesting sites that I think are interesting to people (they may like or not like) and often when I see familiar faces on twitter doing the same if I have time I might surf without even communicating with them. And, if it's worth passing along to my followers, I may RT retweet it.

Meanwhile, when I say I have 4000 followers - it's much more because I have 6 active twitter accounts. I receive emails, within an hour after people mention any of them. If they do, I go immediately and review, and/or respond if needed and converse with people.

Finally - if you don't follow people - they can't DM (direct message you) .. sometimes, people just want to get ahold of me and they can DM me anytime and I get an email Instantly - being online most of the time, I can almost respond back in real time too. Whereas, with the @replies, it may take an hour before I receive the aggregated notices.

I've got lots of "real life" family, friends, relatives, neighbors, associates, and acquaintances .. It doesn't mean I talk to everybody at the same time. Just because people have lots of followers, friends, or follow people on twitter - I don't know why people assume they must be crazy to be able to communicate with all of them at the same time. Nobody does - that's not the nature of twitter.

      Thanks PetLvr,

I guess it is like everywhere else in life; when I keep the conversation going, there is conversation, otherwise there isn't. I use Twitter mainly to "blog" interesting ideas or insights, challenges and to follow what others put out. But lately I let it slip and don't even check on what is posted regularly. Sometimes not even once a day. When the number of followers exceeds a certain number, it is hard not to miss posts that I would like to read.

I followed once the CEO from Zappos, because I read an article about him and his company. I loved it so much because they have such a superb customer service and service-oriented attitude. Tony - that is his name - followed me back. After a while I unfollowed because in the end I could not relate to what he was saying.
  26. lovelila
I follow a couple: Rainn Wilson, Michael Ian Black, Kevin Smith...maybe two more. I like the ones that don't tweet to other celebrities MOST of the time. I stopped following Shaq because of that. It gets annoying.
  27. survivor
I don't tweet, it is just a waste of time to me.
  28. Bonnielona
Well...I don't get too much of a following of Celebrities, they tend not to like me...but I follow Kutcher...Miley Cyrus...and a few more....

Follow me if you would like...
