If you went to college / technical school / did an apprenticeship / etc. what did you get a degree in?
Does it relate at all to what you blog about?

I have several degree's. Don't have anything to do with my blogging.
  2. voodooKobra
I'm working on my degree right now.

Soon I'll have a BS in Computer Engineering, and then I'll move on to MS and Ph.D

I have a B.A. in Political Science and English and a J.D. I guess they relate to my writing blog and my social commentary blog and somewhat to my webzine, but not to my other four blogs.
    1. mattersoftheheartt
Oh, that's awesome! I'm thinking of minoring in political science, but I think I might be running out of time to do it. :/
    2. nmacneil
I have a double degree in Business and Political Science. I also have a diploma in interior design. Political Science is what I enjoyed most and is so relevant to everything going on in the world; it's what I blog about least though. Perhaps I'll start a Political blog sometime in the future!
  4. ChampDog
Not really, I have a computer engineering degree and do not blog about it. Maybe I should, thinking of it.

I also have certificates about computers.. I have done some web development businesses in the past.. But now im doin it for fun..

      @ophase,

Very cool. Ph.D. Physics. I lived not far from Fermilab in Illinois, USA. As a kid, several of my neighbors worked there.
    2. ophase
Really? Great.. My Ph.D. thesis was about top quark which is discovered in Tevatron Fermilab in 1998... I was about to come USA... Then my advisor suggested me to go for Cern bcs of the huge physical movement right now and he went himself leaving me alone in Turkey.. :))

What's the next project in Fermilab?? Is it an invitation that you want me to offer?? :))
    3. SailboaterRob
The thing I remember most about Fermilab was/is the herd of buffalo, American Bison. Funny what you remember as a kid.

I personally have nothing to do with Fermilab. :-)

I do have a love of mathematics. Linear Algebra! But no Physics degrees for me. :-)

Yes, my blogging is absolutely related to my University degree....but I make it -my blogging- fun and entertaining, not boring at all.

    BTW, great discussion idea.

      Hi Dr Martha,

I peeked at your site. Very nice. Thanks for posting...

english ed (secondary)... relates to blogging in that I choose not to teach and write instead... working on getting into grad school
  11. mattersoftheheartt
Wow! I'm surprised by the number of highly technical subjects you all graduated in. Math and sciences are not my thing.
  12. Epicharis
In my final year of a BA in Ancient and Mediaeval History, then going to do an MA in English Literature so I can teach English.

The history relates to my blog because I write a lot about culture and identity and am informed by my studies. The English relates to my blog because I write a bit about writing and about literature...
    1. mattersoftheheartt
That's really cool, I'm a History major as well. But I still have well over a year to go.
  13. HorsePucky
M.S.Ed. in Literacy; B.A. in English, Education, and Psychology, and a Doctorate in Horse Pucky. PHD simply means, piled higher and deeper.

  14. Bonnielicious
I am nearly finished my degree in Zoology and Geography, which has absolutely nothing to do with anything I blog about.

I wish they had a degree in saving the world...but they don't. I settle for a theatre degree. Maybe my blog is a bit dramatic. See for yourself! ralliandrummi.blogspot.com

    1. Epicharis

PhD in English--which is why I say I'm the kind of doctor who, in case of emergency, can explain Faulkner while you die.

It also means I'm unemployable, so have lots of time to blog.
    1. ranist22
Nice to find another unemployable one!

my blog has nothing to do with it whatsoever and I don'think I will ever write anything related to it...Blog is more for my interests, hobbies, my experiences etc...
  26. Nakalas
My degree is in Creative Writing. Since anything I write is helped by my degree I feel it applies to some extent. However, if you examine my topic from a strict perspective it does not. My ability to craft a story or pen a poem is probably not going to ultimately help my quest along that much.
  27. choconoodle
i have a degree in landscape architecture and a graduate diploma in environmental planning...nothing to do with what i blog about....well, not yet.

  35. melindaville
I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology. I would say that this definitely enters into my blog--as I do a lot of self-analysis (and analyze others as well) but psychology is not the primary purpose of my blog.

  42. blackzero85
    Computer Science, MBA.

  43. annz
BA in Geology, Environmental Studies concentration. MLIS - Library science. They occasionally show up in my blogs. I used to do a monthly photo of my daughter next to a rock hammer for scale - that's one of the things that geologists often use in photos of rocks to show scale. I'm one of the top hits if you google rock hammer for scale
  44. yourholidaytips

I have a degree in Biological Sciences. For me, it was the biggest mistake. I was just following the trend and parental pressures and went into biology. Unless you know you want to do soemthing more with a biology degree (doctor, dental, pharmacy, lab) do not get a biology degree. I wish I wish I went into graphic designing or business. And biology does NOT relate to my blog.
  51. wehireu
I have a bachelors in anthropology. I even got an honors thesis for my bachelors in anthropology. I just liked cultural anthropology. It really doesn't serve a purpose. It is nice and squishy. I also have a masters in library science. Even though it doesn't really matter, I passed the real estate salesperson exam when I was twenty two in California after finishing my bachelors degree in anthropology. I haven't used my real estate skills in ages and I am very glad of it.

Right now, I use my masters in library science every single day. I wonder if I should get a certificate in public administration for libraries. It is an advanced library degree... or even better a Masters In Publishing, I almost did this to my relief they did not have the classes I wanted to take in electronic publishing to finish a second masters in publishing... I probably know too much about books and publishing already...
  52. RenegadeFilmSnob
I have a BA, but I majored in Screen studies.

Apparently degrees in film theory aren't that useful.

I have a technical school degree in dressmaking. Having tried out a lot of different schools and unis, that's the only one I found interesting enough to actually finish.

My blog hasn't got anything to do with it though... Apart from occasional references to my new wedding dress bizo.

I have a 30 year old degree in childcare and am now heading for the last semester to get my degree in Optical Dispensing. I may use the credits to continue on through distance learning toward my BA in Health Sciences or Fine arts. It would allow me to take some courses in photography and writing which are my creative passions.

50 is not too late to start a new career. :-)
  66. Margie2007
Two degrees B.A. - American studies, M.A. - English philology. My blog is my passion in a way, it has nothing to do with my education.
