I post a lot of funny videos and pictures in my blog.

Occasionally some text jokes.

So what do you like to see in humor blogs?

haha lol. Expected someone would say that.

Yeah I am very strict about posting something very interesting.

    Something funny.

    No, seriously!

I haven't seen your blog (yet), but I recognize this as a serious question about humor. Personally, I don't have a strong preference for either visual or linguistic humor.

I have developed, as a sort of mental callous, a moderate distaste for
    • Those 'funny sign' pictures that have obviously been digitally manipulated
    • Text humor which contains [expletive]ing [expletive]
    • Allegedly funny videos of kids getting hurt
I know, it's protected by the First Amendment: but that doesn't make it funny.

On a more positive note, I like plays on words, anything that points out an absurdity or weirdness in common words or phrases: example "San Diego to Honolulu - Non-Stop." Where would the airliner stop??

I've run into more funny (to me) text jokes and gag pictures/cartoons, than funny (again, to me) videos. I think speed of delivery is a factor here.

Time to check out that blog. (I looked it up: the URL is stronys.blogspot.com/ .) Whaddaya know. A funny video. Granted, I only watched a minute and a half of a five-minute-plus clip, but what I saw was funny. Even if I didn't understand the language.

The oddball products was a good post, too. That seems to be a popular topic these days.

Now, a question (watch out - shameless self-promotion coming) - are there funny posts in this blog: loonfootfalls.blogspot.com/ ?
    2. akumusha
hmmm., i'll keep those in mind.,

checked out your link., it is rather interesting than funny.,

      akumusha,

Remember, my opinions and observations were free - and may be worth every cent.

      And:

Thanks! "...rather interesting than funny...." I'll gladly settle for that.

I tend to prefer humor blogs that tell original funny stories. It takes some effort to really craft a well-written memory of something in a funny way. There are a number BCers who do this really well... Just a few include:

    Dead Rooster- www.deadrooster.com
    The Junk Drawer- junkdrawerblog.com
    Crotchety Old Man- crotchety-old-man-yells-at-cars.blogspot.com

    And others-- Tiggy, DrowseyMonkey, MonkeyTales...

The nice thing is, it means you won't see the same humor on other sites. It works because you get to know the personality of the author.

I agree with TSR, too. And believe it or not, it has nothing to do with my blog being mentioned either.

I really dislike videos on humor blogs except on rare occasions. Once every few weeks is fine, but if I want to see videos every day, I'll just sit and choose them from Youtube.

I like reading blogs that reveal, indirectly or inferentially, a lot about the author. We get to know, albeit on a limited basis, some of each other's weirdnesses and weaknesses, strengths and hopes. The blogs reveal the humanity in all of us.
I don't get that from a daily dose of videos.

      TSR, COM,

      (Love those acronyms!)

Thanks! You've helped me: hope the same goes for akumusha.

I'm with TSR (and not because she mentioned my blog). I like original humor that comes out of the mind of the blog owner.

I think it's ok to throw in a funny picture or video once in a while, especially if you add something original to go with it, but sooner or later--if it's really funny--someone else is going to add it (the picture or video) to their blog as well and there goes the "uniqueness" of your blog.

    Some of my favorites are:

    cabbages-n-kings.blogspot.com
    humorium.blogspot.com
    www.nannygoatsinpanties.com

something funny but it should not hurt anybody..

I like clean humor that's not offensive to others. I also love funny images & cartoons.

    for it to be funny
    1. CrotchetyOldMan
So true. I've seen some humor blogs where the humor has either escaped or been beaten into submission.

BTW, for anyone who has never checked out Amy's blog, she always brings the funny.
    2. AmyOops
      thanks Old Man..
  8. nannygoats
I agree with AmyOops. Just put it all out there. I'll decide if I think it's funny or not. If a particular blogger consistently makes me laugh, I'll come back to their site more often.

I'm with the majority here, one it has to be funny, and two it has to be personable, or leave an impression. Usually stories, or well written memories. I like to read not watch.

I have started a humor blog recently, but with forcing the humor out, it's just not landing right, but in a couple months time I should have the writing style down. I can write the best funnies on my personal blog, which is what gave me the idea for a separate blog.
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
Woo-hoo, Chica! It sounds promising-- let us know when the official launch happens.
    2. ChicaX
It's already out there, lol. It's not going to make you fall out of your chair, but I'll get there eventually. dear-chica.blogspot.com/
    3. ThriftShopRomantic
Gorgeous layout. Here's wishing you much luck in getting it the tone/feel you want. I know figuring out a voice for this sort of thing can be challenging.

      Thank ya much ma'am.

I like to read humor on a blog, not necessarily watch it. And I prefer a dry sense of humor, the kind that makes me think. I love to read funny, well-written stories. I don't mind profanity at all but I can't stand it when a blogger uses profanity just for the sake of using profanity - kwim?

I guess I like the kind of humor that I try to incorporate into my own blog.
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
I will have to check you out. You've summarized the sort of things I prefer myself in a humor blog!
  11. themuskrat
i like lots of nudity with words around it.
  12. violetteb
I love funny, either a play on words, funny sarcastic, funny annoyed. Nanny Goats in Panties...ranting is good. Funny funny. You know when something is funny because it is not? I'll laugh with you but not at you type of funny, while I shake my head in wonder at the unexplainable nonsense in the world.
  13. RayRayStandUp
I love honesty the most I guess. Honest humor concerning someones REAL life is priceless.
  14. melindaville
funny material! Of any kind. I think Annieoops has a funny blog.
  15. RenalFailure
It's all about bringing something new to the table. I can read people ranting on stuff, or posting videos or jokes they've heard anywhere. Give me something I haven't seen yet.
  16. Theresa111
Something (nice) that makes me laugh out loud, with my mouth wide open
  17. veganbilly
i like to try to surprise people into laughing. very dry. that way i feel like the reader and i are in on a joke together and we're all like
  18. drjay1966
Humor is generally best when it's funny...which would mean it's humor...I seem to be trapped in a circle...
