I see a large rectangular shape of color that resembles the size, shape, and color saturation of what was just on my computer screen.

Yes back of the eyelid, a dark black pollack painting / specks, afterglow composite images that float away. i once wrote a short story about this, about the character going mad with the thought of closing the eyes but not being able to see nothing.

I was gonna say the eyelid thing ... dang

I have a great imagination, but when I relax and close my eyes I don't really see anything. I use that time to not see anything, just be. Relax. Let the thoughts float thru my mind until I'm completely relaxed and not thinking of anything.

I am on a hill and have reached a flat landing. The air smells fresh and clean. Not a human in sight for miles. The wind blows the tall grass of the meadow. A monarch butterfly rests it's wings on a rotted log. I see a family of deer mama, papa, and baby eating their lunch. The buck looks up and we make eye contact. The moment is broken. A human is here. Gracefully, the deer run off into the woods.

Those little squiggly things. I read something somewhere that those squiggly things are a genetic leftover thing from our caveman days.

Actually, it has to do with your retina needing to be checked out by a doctor.

At least it is for me. It's genetic. My dad had to get both retinas reattached. I am probably due to have it in the next 5 to 10 years.

    When I close my eyes...

I am on the mound, 9th inning, 7th game of the world series. I am pitching for the Cardinals against the the mighty Yankees. Bases are loaded, two outs, and the Cardinals are ahead by three. A-Rod comes up to bat. I work him to a full count after he fouls off fastball after fastball.

Yankee Stadium is on their feet. I can't even hear what the dugout is screaming at me.

I step back on to the mound and check my sign. Molina calls for a slider. I shake him off. He calls for a cutter. Nah, I'm bringing the juice. A-Rod digs in, I go into my wind up...there's the pitch. CRACK!!!

"It's a long fly ball to center...Ankiel is at full speed to the track...he jumps....He caught it!!!!! Cardinals are the World Champions!!!!"

Hey...you didn't say to keep it brief. ;-)

I see nothing . Am I normal or not ?
    1. jonnyontheball
You see what you want to see... Nothing or Everything... That's why we are all different.... It would be a boring World if we all saw and did the same things!
    2. morgantj
It's normal not to be able to see when you close your eyes. When I close my eyes, I can't "see" anything either. But I can still "imagine" a lot of things.
  19. robertstevenson
I was happy to see that a few others saw twinkly white blotches. I see little white squiggly lines surrounded by deep darkness. When I try to focus on one squiggle it disappears.
    1. morgantj
I wonder if these are similar to the grey blurry "floaters" that I see when my eyes are open.
    2. jonnyontheball
      Like it...
