Big multinational companies are trying to protect their brands in every occasion while some of the factories they own are placed in third world countries with poor working conditions. How do you feel about it?
What do you think about latest case involving one BIG technology company and one smaller Australia based company (read more about it: flanture.blogspot.com/2009/10/protecting-brand.html )?
Just curios to find out what do you think.
Thanks.

That's 'curious,' by the way, and I'm nowhere near as anti-big-whatever as I might be.
Decades back, before the Web, a small outfit hired a designer to come up with a logo - that turned out to be almost a dead ringer for a national firm's. It got worse. The two companies were in the same field.
The small outfit lost their logo: which was inevitable, since it was already 'taken' by the big one. I think the big outfit could have afforded to pay for the small outfit's costs, though - some of them, at any rate.
About the Australian tech company - I don't know enough to have an opinion. (I skimmed the post - but haven't done the sort of thorough research an opinion would require).
I've got the American 'cheer for the little guy' habit - but trademark laws apply to big companies and little ones. So, I'm not quite as sympathetic as I might be in this case.
I've done my homework, with my trademark - and it isn't a ripoff of another outfit's marketing.
And, I don't think I'm sharper than whoever's running Australian company. These days it's possible to do a pretty thorough check of existing trademarks - before going public with your own.
