What do you think biggest beauty mistake women make?

I think "wearing too heavy makeup and too much perfume".

Over tanning - or over fake tanning. Leathery skin is not attractive and neither is looking like an oompa loompa.

Heather Locklear used to be really dark back in high school. Once she got herself out of the sun and into the shade she got just gorgeous.
    2. archiegottlieb
ax! hahaha. that's definitely the worst, especially when it's done poorly and they're streaky all over. i saw a girl like that on campus in the middle of winter. she looked like a bundled up tiger wandering around new england.
    3. Stillthinking
Yep. Those girls I went to high school who used to tan like crazy, now look like leather handbags while most people still think I am in my early twenties.
  2. aningeniousname
I don't like it when they have the tattoo's of their exe's names on their arses with marks out of ten.
  3. busylizzy
Too much makeup. At about age 25 ladies gotta start cutting back otherwise it makes them look older. I have a neighbor who is 2 years older than me but she wears makeup like Tammy Faye Baker and other neighbors thought she was in her 60's.
    1. chicky401
Yeah I gotta agree with the make up thing. I rarely even wear make up but when I do it is not a lot. I have seen some women that if they had their make up tattooed on they wouldn't look much better but at least you wouldn't see how caked on it is
    2. aningeniousname
I agree with you ladies, I wear my make up like a sheer night dress on a hot southern night.
    3. chicky401
      LMAO Anin
  4. timethief
I agree with the others who have posted. Less is more and the biggest mistake that women make is hiding their natural beauty behind fake tans, makeup and perfume.
  5. dannyvice
Overplucking eyebrows. Girls, please leave those eyebrows alone...

    And "Sharpie Marker" eyebrows.

Eyebrows do NOT have to be perfect.
    1. archiegottlieb
but you agree that they have to at least be plural?
  6. Arcticulates
Make-up.. I know some naturally beautiful women who will only be seen with tons of makeup slathered on... It doesn't make sense.. it is like an addiction.. they cannot and will not leave the house without it on.

Another... wearing clothes that are too small..
  7. LGramlich
Wearing makeup. There's nothing wrong with them to begin with.
  8. dinsquared
    Black eyeliner top and bottom.
    1. AngieA
Do some women still do that?
I never liked the way the dark pencil liner looked around the lips.
Kind of goes with the “Sharpie Marker” eyebrow look. Which is just plain ugly.
  9. dekadaye
i agree with the heavy makeup
  10. fruitcake
    Forgetting that they are beautiful...
    1. timethief
Right on! We are beautiful and the paint is just a mask.
  11. jflower36
Another mistake some women make is that they use so much hairspray that their hair stops looking natural and it looks more like a helmet.
    1. timethief
      Agreed - helmet head is U G L Y!
  12. Epifany
wearing way too much make up that they look like clowns with poly filler in their wrinkles and that horrible orange tan. People who wear fake tans do not look natural at all. Their kidding themselves!!! Stay away from the tango!
  13. jafabrit
    pencil lined lips! why????????
  14. xnapoleonx
Heavy make up, overtanning, being too skinny, long nails
  15. melindaville
I think you are right--I can't stand heavy makeup and cloying, heavy perfume makes me nauseous.

I have never worn much makeup and my husband really hates the way it looks when I do (rarely) put some on. He thinks I look best when I first wake up in the morning.
  16. greencurmudgeon
The first thought that springs to mind in response to this question is "try too hard".

There is something off-putting about someone who feels the need to put on sufficient makeup to provide bulletproofing, and to stuff themselves into such terrible constraints that they're turning blue underneath the mask. Nature or God, depending upon your point of view, is not a bad artist - let the handiwork show.
  17. Shuo
women do things for guys,so there should be no judgement about this topic.
    1. jeremyjanson
Not sure I understand what you're trying to say.
  18. nothingprofound
Worrying if they're beautiful or not.
  19. JamCan
The BIGGEST mistake they make is thinking they aren't beautiful!!!
    1. acegem
      I agree with you,,,
    2. timethief
Yay! for JamCan - IMO you nailed it!
Once a woman believes she's not beautiful all the stuff she enhance herself can end up detracting from what she had going for her in the first place.
  20. jeremyjanson
Obsessing about weight. Sometimes a girl too thin may actually look worse for it.
  21. JoseSinclair
It's all personal taste isn't it? (but U.S. women have become the LEAST attractive and least healthy looking in the world to me; Asians are much more beautiful)

    1. breast augmentation - is this the kind of man you want to attract?
    2. facial surgery (good grief, look at Joan Rivers - scary!)
    3. too much fake stuff like makeup, hair color, etc - once again, you want the superficial guys attracted to outer appearance? most beautiful gf I had, from Latvia, never wore any makeup (a little makeup is ok, just don't look like a painting! remember that lipstick was created by prostitutes as an "ad".. nuff said)
    4. extreme dieting, the emaciated look - take a gander as some Indian actresses, like Aishwarya Rai, no six-pack, not even a flat stomach, a realistic and beautiful one! (also Raphael's paintings)

IMO, most women are materialists re romance (psychology studies prove it, men are actually the more romantic - just another media perpetuated fallacy like most others). Materialism leads to vanity and concern with appearances (the theme of "Great Gatsby", that appearance of affluency is more impt than the real thing). The more attractive women socially don't care about all that. - I know, it's connected to motherhood, but even that shouldn't be your primary motivation, or you're really just a procreating animal like all the others, not a very lofty goal, imo - anyone or any animal can produce offspring and be a good parent.. NOT being a good parent takes a special deficiency in development or human nature, maybe genetic damage!

"Women do things for guys" - yes, but what KIND of man are you trying to attract? the superficial or someone with depth of character?

    - the Jman (filmgoddess.blogspot.com - a blog that celebrates beauty in both genders; Brando was the first man I posted, Aishwarya the first woman)

Can I just correct you there...Bub...

Lipstick WAS NOT INVENTED BY PROSTITUTES. Lipstick has origins from Egypt and other places in Africa. Women made it from berries and natural pigments to wear as face decor...just like today. It's a sign of beauty...not prostitution.
  22. Vaivata
I agree with a lot of these, but I think one of the major points that has been (nearly) missed is forgetting to leave a bit to the imagination. Maybe I'm old fashioned about this, but a hint of cleavage, a nice neckline, and a saucily flashed leg is more seductive than letting everything hang out.
  23. evilsquirrel01
wearing too much make up. I think the worst is false eyelashes.drag queen look
    1. lotusb
Fake eyelashes get on my nerves too...that's a bit too much. Balence in all things...balence.
  24. JonnyDunMind
    Its not common, but big.
Some women choose to grow and groom facial hair, and then go on channel 4 to talk about it.
    Thats a pretty big mistake
  25. Men101
JonnyD you are hilarious. I too prefer natural. It'sfunny how much money women spend on eye creams thinking they can get rid of bags.
    1. JonnyDunMind
Is there a way of getting rid of bags? cos I have major bags.
And I'm happy to sleep more, and drink lots of water, but do things like putting teabags on your eyes work?
  26. dekadaye
i agree with too much makeup
    also, low self-esteem
  27. acegem
It's when we put on too much make-up, sometimes make-ups tends to become camouflage already...
  28. NutriGirl
Too much make-up and animal prints in massive doses.
  29. xmarks
    too much make up

    too much skin
  30. flamingpoodle
Make up. If you can notice that a woman is wearing make up, she's wearing too much.
    1. lotusb
Some women wear make up for dramatic effect. Blue eye shadow is meant to be seen. It's fun to play with your look...I don't see why people judge, unless they look like Cat Woman...or a clown.
  31. jafabrit
    worrying about what others think.
  32. idealpinkrose
I think the biggest mistake is when they are trying to change their real beauty like getting operations or plastic surgeries.
  33. Men101
Teabags act like any cold compress. You gotta have surgery to make 'em go away.
  34. Men101
Shoes that make you go OW!
  35. lotusb
Wearing clothing that is too SMALL. I have dressed people before as a stylist and the most common mistake I see are women in "size-denial". If you wear a size 11, but the button gaps and the sides stretch...then you are actually a size 13. Women think when they walk around people can see the size tag through their pants. If you wear clothing that is too small it makes you look fat AND ignorant. Women do this ALL THE TIME, and it's so unnattractive.
  36. lotusb
Also...and some men do this I suppose..

COLOR CONTACTS! Yuck! Everyone knows they are fake, unless you have been doing lines of coke all morning...and it's so gross! I was blessed with pretty light brown eyes, but even if I didn't have them, I would never embarrass myself and put fake colors in my eyes... gross!
    1. xmarks
I actually like the ones that are intended to have super human colors. They can be a nice accessory.
    2. flamingpoodle
Yes! Colour contacts make you look stupid. Or like a goth.
    3. lotusb
Color contacts are never a "nice" accesory. Not even Paris Hilton pulls them off...
  37. stellak
I hate those long acrylic nails.
I also hate when women torture their have with dyes, peroxide, relaxers,etc...
For me healthy hair is the basis of a good look.
  38. Qaisar
    yes heavy make up
  39. Selvia
Fake Nose,Fake Boobs,Fake hair, Fake on and on
  40. ranist22
Some women do tend to wear too much makeup, and some bask in their natural loveliness. Moderation in all! If you're invited to a lah-di-dah reception you have to put on some stuff, gals. That is a beauty error NOT to commit.
  41. surveygirl46
When they try to look like someone they're not, that and when they put on pants so tight that a muffin top goes all the way around the waist..
    1. FreakSmack
      mmm muffins
  42. toothfairynotes
    too much make-up!
ppl (yes boys/men as well) don't even like women to wear that much make-up! They like our faces fresh, clean and natural!
  43. toothfairynotes
oh and I don't like fake lashes! Asian girls love those ugly things though! yuk, and sometimes it will get loose, so it will look totally horrible....
  44. duaba
wasting money to get a beauty mark tatooed on their face.
  45. HollytheHousewife
When girls cuss, so unattractive..........I mean the f word or callin people outside of their name,........not damn or hell those are my 2 fav words.....
    1. Haste
I would really have to agree with you, it sometimes throws me off.
    2. FreakSmack
There are some occasions when it's cool.
I think too much makeup like this girl is bad freaksmack.blogspot.com/2009/06/wendy-marris-was-charged-with.html
    3. HollytheHousewife
U gotta be from the south
    4. FreakSmack
      why's that?
    5. Haste
she doesn't have too much make up, more like a little too much JAIL lol
  46. HollytheHousewife
I'm sorry freak I was talkin to haste oopsy daisy
  47. SweetViolet
An excess of anything, and sporting something obviously fake like blonde hair on someone with a dark complexion or boobs that look like melon halves bolted onto the chest.

Subtle enhancement of nature's gifts is the key, not orange skin or a face like a kabuki mask.
  48. MadAboutGifts
I agree with most of the things said above, and especially "Forgetting that they are beautiful..."

Just to add a small mistake (which is made by men too)... taking care of hair, skin and face, but ignoring hands and feet. I've seen well groomed people with rough & ugly hands and feet. Ugh! I feel like waking them up... Hello! those are your body parts too.
  49. LolitaV
    lip injections
  50. HollytheHousewife
Yes definately lip injections......don't 4get botox. A friend of mine's mom just got botex, and I can never tell by looking @ her what kind of mood she is in.
  51. AngieA
What about showing hanging out bra straps?
I hate to see an attractive women who’s got the hanging out bra strap thing going on. I think it looks awful.
  52. AngieA
Or worse yet, straps coming out of your wedgie jeans >

    lol
  53. crpitt
    Camel toe is pretty bad.
    1. AngieA
LOL ok that beats everything seen and unseen. LOL
  54. keropidark
One of the biggest mistakes is wearing inappropriate footwear. I love sky high heels but if my feet hurt after a couple of hours of wearing them, I just look like a tool that doesn't want to do anything but sit. I've ruined many dates that way.
  55. GenuineWoman
Not believing in their beauty and criticizing their bodies!
  56. fabuleuxparis
I agree with everyone in regards to just over-doing it. Less is more. Looking fake is not beautiful.
  57. Stylist14
As a fashion stylist, the biggest mistake that I continually see is that women often wear beauty products & fashions that are not appropriate for their skin type, age, body type etc. Often I find that women make these mistakes, because its what they were taught, or all they know courtesy of the latest magazine.

My solution? Take advantage of the make-up artists who work at the local beauty counter. They are professionals who can give free advice! A lot of stores have a style consultant to hand to assist with shopping needs, often at no additional cost. Use it!
  58. BambiLashes
over plucked brows bambilashes.com/eyebrow-shaping-tips-and-facts.php learn how to do it right or leave them alone
  59. thought
brushing up the shell instead of the pearl.
  60. cathy13
Facelifts...............ewwwwwwwwwwww......makes me think of Silence of the Lambs!!!!
