After we die the rest bury or cremate us (Now if you are asking about the body.)
Now with the soul, that is if we belive in soul.
I come from a country where they talk about Karma all the time.
So, they say that soul is the life and our human body was just a vehicle that had the soul while we lived on this planet and blogged.
and soul measures its outcome of success on that body by the karma we did.(kinda like that). So if we still have something to accomplish on this planet, we are born again, it could be as a human or as an animal.(ouch!I dont want anyone to eat me.I bet I have a bad taste)
They say, (the geniuses) heaven and hell is on earth itself.May be they are talking about orgasm and mensuration.(who knows).
Heaven or hell, Lets make this planet a better place while we are living here, so that we would live in the hearts of people we love for ever and ever .

PS: Leave lots of money for the next generation.and digitize your pics(ya know what pics are more googled) and put on forums..You live forever in this digital form..forever

We will only know the answer to that question when we die. But I feel we will return to the state before birth - and that's nothingness.

You had no consciousness before you were born so why would we have it after death.

But to be honest with you, no point wasting time thinking about it, just enjoy your life while you still can.

Go to the promised land....but for those with different beliefs I guess they might think they will be transformed into another being or whatever.

It depends on how we contribute our life in this world..how do we live here will bring us to the place where we belong there...

    After I die ..

Well, I hope people are aware that I am dead and it's not like I left sitting there decaying on the toilet or a few inches away from the telephone trying to call for help

I think after we die whatever notion we conceived mentally while we were alive will materialize in our soul and play out as a self fufilled prohecy. If you think your going to heaven, transform into a butterfly, marry 21 virgins, or become a cell phone...then you will. Beyond physical life all things are preconceived by and carried out by our deeper conscience.

I think we just die. That's it, game over. And the matter that we once consisted of is recycled back into the universe. Worm food, fertilizer.

We will sizzle over the fiery flames of hell like bacon for eternity!

We will float around as mind essence and be thinking about the times when we were able to sit at the computer participating in discussions at blogcatalog and such. Then we'll try to get on the computer even though we lost our body but we soon realize that our imaginary fingers just go right through the keyboard unable to touch anything in this here physical universe. At that point we decide to take over the next best body that comes along so we can keep commenting on the last discussion thread where the virtual conversation was heating up but before we know it, they got onto us and called an Exorcist to exorcise us from the body we usurped.

That would make a good story, but I think it's been done before!

I believe there is a life after death. The life we are given after we die is decided by the good and bad things we do in this present life. So do good for other and yourself.

The karma, what Buddhists believe in. I think it has a lot of merit as a belief system. If more people subscribed to this philosophy, the world would be a better place!

There are some clues about the afterlife from people’s near-death experiences. Some people who died and were revived had similar stories. Some recall entering a tunnel of light and being greeted by their deceased loved ones, and had a life review of everything they did, good or bad. But then they return to life before they reached the final destination. It seems there is a point of no return, and we don’t know what exists beyond that point.

It's not the least bit surprising that many people have similar near-death experiences if they are unfortunate enough to go through such an episode. We all passed through the same natural selection funnel to become the Homo sapiens that we are, therefore there is considerable similarity in how our brains are wired. I'd be more surprised if there were a lot of significant differences in what is experienced in near-death circumstances than if there were not.

I'm in no way an expert in this, but I would imagine It's possible that much of the brain function that has been shaped by our life experience starts to shut down in a near-death experience, while the inherent processing of our natural selection-shaped brain-hard-wiring remains as long as there are some body functions. What is seen in the near-death experience may result from the reactions of that hard-wiring to those circumstances. Like I said, I'm not a neuroscience expert in any way, shape or form, so I may be way off base in this, but that sounds much more plausible than the experiencing of the edges of an afterlife.

If anyone is curious about the near-death out-of-body experience, talk to someone who had the experience. Ask around your circle of friends and acquaintances if anybody they know had the experience…maybe grandma has a friend or Uncle Joe. People usually don’t advertise these experiences. Listen to the story firsthand then make up your mind. Maybe it is only the musings of an inactive brain, or just maybe it is an objective reality.

In my case, it's just before I die that counts. As I'm dying I will exit out through my eyebrows.

Of course, I can't be 100 percent certain, but I think after we die, we're dead. The electro-chemical processes in our brains stop and, therefore, our mind ceases to exist for all intents and purposes. Our flesh rots and, given enough time, our bones will decay too. And, unless by some unlikely coincidence our bones are fossilized and discovered by some future archeologist, there will eventually be no physical record of our existence.

That's it. Or, at least, I think that's it. Sorry, it might be comforting to believe in an afterlife, but I can't force myself to believe something simply because it would be comforting to do so. That's not the way my brain works while I'm still alive. And after I'm dead it almost certainly not work at all.
    1. morgantj
      I agree.

I believe that our soul goes to "heaven" where ever that is. I do not believe in hell because i don't believe our loving father would create such a place.
    1. GalaxyPress
Sorry to burst your bubble, but there is no heaven without hell, no day without night, no male without female, no black without white. They are the 2 sides of the same coin. It's the ying and yang of existence. If you believe in heaven, you should for your own sake believe in hell, otherwise you might one day be sorely disappointed.

i think we just die and nothing else.

Soul keeps changing the body one after another. It gets a bodies based on its deeds done in human life.
Soul, when in other than human body – e.g. in an animal, a bird or an insect, does not act independently. It acts either under the direction of a human being or just by natural instinct. It does not and cannot think. All its actions are controlled by others or by natural instinct. Because of that, its actions are neither rewarded nor punished.
When leaving human body, if the good deeds equal bad deeds, one is born as an ordinary human being in the next life. If good deeds exceed bad deeds then one is born as an intellectual human being. If bad deeds exceed good deeds, one is born as an animal, a bird or insect etc. based on the severity of the bad deeds.
Basically, deeds good or bad are done through:
    thought,
    word and
    action
One reaps the fruit good or bad by receiving or paying for the deeds done with similar organs. E.g. harsh talker, liar, back stabber etc gets a life of an animal or of a mute human being.
The soul adjusts in the body it gets, whether it is a human, an animal, a bird or an insect. Soul is like water, without a color. Color makes the water colored. Same way, the soul is known as by the body it is in.
Soul continues to move from one body to another. It starts body at the time of conception, and departs at the time of death. Same soul can be a man, woman, elephant, ant or any other living being, and back and forth as well.
As humans discard worn out clothes and wear new ones, similarly soul discards the useless old body and starts a new body.

I presume, in my case, there'll be a great wailing and gnashing of teeth...either that or some sort of party.
