What does it take other than being a HUGE Media entity, to have your posts seen on Digg's front page?

Just looked at your website..
Since you'r description talks about young voters, you really should have more political information up top. THe Gossip column stuff you have as most recent is a little confusing, and you are going to lose people that came there because of what they thought the site was about (politics for young adults)
Also, with your topic, you have the power to write articles that are Pure Gold for Digg, not only on a highly relevant topic. But more importantly you are targeting the "internet" generation so your chances of getting Social media savvy readers are good.
Write a strong article that is about your exact topic. Young People and The Election. Learn about Linkbait, and write a killer headline.
I would not suggest submitting it yourself, let this article make it on to digg on its own merits. Self submitted articles are subjected to Clustering calculations (friends voting for friends aren't as important as unaffiliated people voting.
Also, Make Digging easier from your own page. Get one of those big fat DIGG Icons, the easier to make it for people to remember to digg, the better for you.
Good luck
