    Laughing out loud

One of my coworkers thought it meant "lots of love" and wondered why his boss who is female was sending it to him. LOL

My dad though it meant that too and he was getting it off male coworkers

My best friend thought that too

I am old fashion. I use "ha" instead.

I think that has a different effect. It seems like it is a short and almost forced laugh.

I use it as an acronym for "Larry on Lampshade". I haven't been in a situation that warrants a use for it yet.

Maybe "Linda on Llama" would work better.

Back in the day, when "little old ladies in tennis shoes" were protesting the Viet Nam war, that's what LOL used to mean. I still read it that way sometimes, now that I am one (a LOL protesting the current war).
