Its based on what other users rate your blog as. If you click on someone's blog summary page here on blogcatalog, you can then choose to rate the blog.

Its based on your blogs profile views, clickthroughs from the profile, ratings by others and a few other things.

Mine is currently at 65.4, but it tends to go up and down quite a bit.

I'm confused? When I rate someone's blog on here I am working on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the highest and blogcatalog's rankings are on the 1-100 scale. How does that correlate?

And, one more thing. Will my score automatically change on my webpage or do I have to change the buttom myself periodically?

It will change on its own. Just set it and forget it.

As for the rating, it's based on a number of factors, including the 1-5 scale you mention.

What do the BC Blog Stats mean?
Blog Rank - a special formula that analyzes your hits, views, comments, neighborhood members and other special secret ingredients to create a numeric score based on a 100 point scale. Your Blog Rank is primarily used to determine the order blogs appear in our Directory and Search Results. The higher your score the better your placement.

Views - The number of unique visitors that have looked at your BlogCatalog listing.

Hits - The number of unique visitors that have clicked through to your blog from BlogCatalog.

No all of the factors that go into the BC blog rank calculation algorithm are made known, as if they were, then members would "game the system". The BC blog rank is internal only. It does not affect your blog's Google page rank, Alexa rankings, etc. www.blogcatalog.com/help/

    How it works
We can click any BC username here and arrive on a BC profile page and that counts for a BC hit stat for the applicable member. We can then find the blog url on that BC profile page and click it and that counts for a BC view stat for the applicable member. So, if we drop a blog link into a thread, and members click the link then we lose the stats we could have had if they had clicked our username and then our blog url.

Is the lowest score like "Number 1" ? If so, I'm gonna be on top eventually.
