Do you think that we are a lost generation or is there hope for the future?

There is hope...

I think u shouldn't think so much about the future because you miss good stuff here and now

You make a valid point. But if you think about it carefully you will realise that the future is but a few seconds away...
  2. HollytheHousewife
    Ahhh and now its history...
    1. R1VERT1LT
Exactly... we understand each other well

Well, it won't be a fun future, with out-of control population growth. I can't think of any way the Earth is going to support the billions of people to be born in the next 40 or 50 years. It can barely support the billions already here. Forget depleting oil reserves, global warming...etc.

Yea...see what I mean river....that is a problem that I'm just not gonna waste my worry on. Why? Because htr will worry for me. Now while you worry about world population I'm gonna go to the country and ride salvadore and enjoy the now

I care because my children and grandchildren have to grow up in that world. Same as yours Holly.

"go to the country and ride salvadore" ?! Anyway I try to interpret this... it just sounds dirty loooooool

  5. HollytheHousewife
Yea,but there is nothing u can do about world population. So I leave that for the good lord to figure out,I mean he is GOD,he will fig something out.

I agree, I really don't think there's much that can be done about most of those things. I just think it's going to get really ugly, and not very long from now either.
  6. HollytheHousewife
Well if it does we will cross that bridge when we get there. You only have 1 chance to live, make it count.

I don't know. I never think about it.
    1. R1VERT1LT
      Why not?

The future? It can only exist NOW. Just as the past can only exist NOW. If I were to go back in time, that time would be NOW. If I went forward in time, that time would be NOW. (smile)

What you have stated reflects "presentism"

What we do NOW, today effects tomorrow...the future. We have to make responsible choices today.

I can still have a positive attitude and be concerned about the future and make the right choices.

We have abused nature, resources are depleting quickly. The future will be significantly different. We will be forced to change our way of living.
    1. R1VERT1LT
I agree with that... but I think there is still hope.

I am actually not too worried. For many, the "future" is always considered with apprehension, doubt, concern. It is our instinctive fear of the "Unknown". And out of fear we retreat often to glorifying "the good ol' days", the "way it used to be", "back before...", etc.

So far we've made it. In Biblical terms (to take one sample of many), even the generation alive during Jesus's days believed an "end time" would arrive during their own time. There hasn't been a generation since I know of that hasn't worried about it.

Don't worry, we are only one strong pandemic away from utopia.

I'm quite certain that the future will be just like the past, except where it's different.

As for being hopeful or hopeless: Humanity has survived the advent of agriculture, string, iron plows, and MTV. Sure, we'll hit some rough patches, but I'm far from hopeless.
