Yes, I remember the shaved hair thing - I remember one girl in particular who thought she was "gangsta" like that and wore a huge oversized gold chain of a dollar bill sign to go with it.

I also never did the whole Starter jacket "parka" thing. For a while there, I think every other guy in my school had a Chicago Bulls or Oakland Raiders (techincally L.A. Raiders back then) parka.

I never really followed any trend. I usually did things just to be different when I was younger. I had black, blue and purple hair as nobody else did in my school. Went and got my tongue pierced 12 years ago before everybody started doing it, then it became a trend. Funny thing is though I never followed any trends I always had a lot of friends. Now I am who I am and my style is my style. This time nobody steal it!

I knew a girl in High school that had the left half of her head shaved. She looked like "Two Face" from the Batman movie.

I never shaved designs in my hair or eyebrows....

And currently I do not subscribe to the modern fashion trends, generally speaking. Particularly not those GIANT designer sunglasses that make everybody look bug-eyed :D

I sure agree about the cell phones and texting. I had one friend who would not put the dratted things away and communicate face-to-face no matter how many times she was asked to. You will note the word "had" is in past tense. Like you I also have never watched American idol.

I'll address this right away...no DocNicole I don't nor would I ever watch American Idol. LOL

I know cell phones aren't a "fad or trend" but I don't carry one unless I'm going out alone and I especially don't text. Its the most rude thing in the world to be spending time with someone (especially if you haven't seen them in awhile) and have them staring down half the time. I'm sorry but if you can't live without that for 2 hours, you've got issues! :)

Neither of my kids have a land line phone because they have cell phones. Seems like a lot of young people find it easier when sharing a flat or dorm to just skip the land line phones and have their own cell phone (cheaper too).

No, no, they have grillz. [gag] I won't be wearing fake gold braces, pants that make my hops into a mushroom (and give me plumber's butt) so that they don't fall off (but still drag on the floor behind me, fraying into bits), shirts that expose my belly and bra straps, or any one of the 52 incredibly stupid hair trends thrust upon women in the last couple of decades.

I've never seen Pretty Woman and never will. I don't watch reality TV, either, nor do I listen to commercial radio. Crocs and Uggs and drugs are not my style, and Apple cannot fad me or advertise me into buying the iPod or iPhone or their silly iTunes. I remember when words didn't have little Is in front of them.

Platform shoes should be outlawed. Text message that in your cell phone and vote for it! [whew]

1970's - didn't do drugs despite living in SF (I was too young)
1980's - I didn't own parachutte pants (although I did have a members only jacket).
1990's - I didn't own a pet rock or a Furby.

With tattoos, if others have 'em, I don't begrudge it-- there's some nicely done art. I just feel that I change what I'm most interested in so much, there's just nothing I would want to have hanging around on me, for the rest of my life. Talk about a commitment!
