    Nothing has happened to mine.

On a global level, though, I think the fact that people move around so much has taken a big toll.

Because some families are not worth it (my father and his family for example), and as madam x says some families move around and it is has taken it's toll. As much as I would LOVE to help my family I am thousands of miles away and I cannot give them the kind of help and support that being there would.

it's alive and well in my world although a bit lopsided with just my sons, my granddaughter her Mom, and myself. I'm proud of the men my sons turned out to be and you mess with one of us, you get us all. Whether it's cheering each other on, mourning a loss, or just facing another day.

I'd like to add that lopsided as my family circle is, the gaps are filled in with good friends and assorted members of my eldest's father's family.

The past is always way better in hindsight than it really was....

Yes, the past does sounds better. But family is family no matter what right? Family use to be there for one another no matter what. Now everyone has a problem or issue and there goes the family dinner....

I honestly think people are becoming more selfish and self-serving these days. Who needs a family when you can do what you want and on your own?

I have to say, we all need family...
