Today we go about our everyday lives, but, from seeing people die, we know it will end.
What happens then? Do we go pfft just like that?
Do we continue living? Do we get to keep our friends?
Our wealth? Fame? What?

MrCheeseburger, you wouldn't happen to be a soy burger, would you? I'm a vegetarian.
What happens? Do we meet up with our pets? -
When Alexander died, He requested his corpse to be taken around with His arms held wide apart, in the coffin.
Signifying that he did not take anything with him to his grave.
Can you Visualize it? A Conqueror of such vast proportions, he wanted people to realize that,You come into the world with nothing, though you may create things for yourself and others, you leave the world with nothing but your name and the deeds you did. -
Actually, I'd like to test what my teacher said forty-five years ago, how people would never fail to plan next year's vacation, but miss to consider what happens at kicking-the-bucket-time, only I didn't have the means-- the best computer didn't come near the shadow of what we have now.
But I was sure he was wrong. If I could only find out for certain. -

Am reading a great book called Death at Intervals which is a fictional story about what happens when people stop dying one day and how society changes because of the implications and practicalities.
Whether there is or isn't anything after death just try and enjoy and make the most of each day. Anyone who has suffered illness or loss will no doubt tell you, it's vital to make the most of everything you can. Worrying about the after life is fruitless, we just don't know! -

Have you ever thought as hearse goes by that one day soon we are going to die,
Ha ha ha, hee hee he, how happy we shall be.
The worms crawl in and the worms crawl out, they crawl in thin and they crawl out stout ha, ha ha hee, he he - how happy we shall be.
Your guts fall in and your eyes fall out, your brain comes trickling down your snout, ha, ha ha, hee, hee hee, how happy we shall be.....

Nice :). Let me let you know some about Islamic belief. Allah (arabic name of The One and Only God) says in Holy Quran that one day (the judgment day) all people will be taken out from their graves (their bodies will be gathered and rebuild as God build them first time) and their bodies and souls will be comined, then all human beings will be brought in front of God.
Next Allah says, that you people will be grouped in three groups.
1. Right side people's group. They will be in peace and in heaven, because they feared from God in this world, and they did good deeds and behaved in pious manner with others.
2. Left side people's group. They will be in great pain in Hell, those will be people who didn't believe God and followed devil and did wrong deeds in this world. They didn't took care of others, did injustice in the world.
3. And third group will be those of front group, the highest ranked people. Those are the people who are beloved ones of God, God's friends.
Furthermore, Allah says in Holy Quran that this same message He also delivered in Holy Torah, in Holy Bible and many other Holy scriptures as well, which were revealed on previous Messengers like Abraham, Noha, Jonah, Jacob, Solomon and others. -
I don't believe the Judeo/Christian construct of God exists. However, I have been well educated in Christianity from birth onwards. As a Bible College graduate I chose not to continue onward and achieve a degree when I uncovered the truth that I was not a believer in the Christian sense.
Due to the way I was raised I began with blind faith but when I learned to meditate years ago, and I experienced an entirely different construct for god I tossed all religious dogma and doctrine into the trashcan. I have no argument whatsoever with the teachings attributed to Jesus.
dana = authentic generosity (charitable giving of the self and sharing of possessions, donation)
metta = selfless love and good will toward all beings (loving kindness)
karuna = compassion (respect, acceptance, forgiveness)
mudita = altruistic joy filled with peace and contentment (appreciative joy at the success and good fortune of others)
sila = self discipline -abstaining from physical and vocal actions that cause harm to oneself and others
uppekka = equanimity (an inclusive state of open mind free of attachment, aversion, bigotry, craving, ignorance and intolerance)
These universals are the essence of teachings of both Buddha and of Jesus. They are also found in other traditions as well. I think they do constitute common ground for all people who are aware of their spiritual nature. And, it’s my experience that many religious people are not aware of their spiritual nature. They are too fearful to empty their minds of their ego driven agendas to be able to resort to anything other than praying prayers of supplication and intercession.
When I meditate and all the things associated with my "self" like greed, anger, hate, etc. dissolve. What I experience and what I know is that there really is no self; there is no distinct being that is separate from the universal stream of pure consciousness -- quiet joy, peace, love ie. god.
Neither male nor female, neither good nor bad, neither light nor darkness but containing all there is and situate everywhere: the universal stream of consciousness flowing through all is god. Hence, god is found in everyone and in everything; god (the universal stream of pure consciousness) just keeps on is-ing.
I have been twice at death's door and I do not fear it.
When I die the "I" that was my "self" in this life will be gone. The consciousness deep within me will dissolve into that universal stream of consciousness and go on is-ing for death of "self" is merely a transition to a new beginning. The remains of my cremated body will be returned to the earth - ashes to ashes.
Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti
N.B. Shanti = Peace -

I take comfort in the knowledge that when it's over here it's over, and in having no fear for I know that without doubt the universal stream of consciousness will keep on is-ing.
Only the disconnected and deluded are so immature as to cling to the need for a reward, and the attachment to carrying a desire for vengeance (clinging to the notion that those who did bad will be punished) to the grave.
Free at last - I'm so looking forward to dissolving into the flow
and becoming one with all - free at last!

Some time ago i read the 'Tibetan Book of the Dead' and what i got from it was you make the transition to another dimension. That's if you lead a good life, otherwise i think you're reborn again.
Can somebody help me on that?
