Would you consider blogging if there was no way to earn money, I mean just as a hobby, investing so much time, driving traffic? Honest answers please....

i would, but i wouldn't make time for it. i think most for most people, money becomes a motivating force. the prospect of money makes people start up blogs every day. and because they realize that it's not easy to make money online, they give up. this explains why most blogs online are rarely updated. most of the blogs i've seen via Blogcatalog are either inactive or updated rarely

Wow...I never visit blogs that are making money from it, so I can't say I agree. I think it depends on why you blog ... since I just blog as a hobby I visit similar kinds of blogs ... and none of them make money and they're updated daily, or at least several times a week.
As for the amount of time ... I do put a lot of time into my blogs, but obviously I put more hours into my job, so I get what you're saying.

BLOGS MAKE MONEY???? lol
Yes I would love to make just a couple of dollars from my blog one day (if I could figure out how) - but I prefer to accumulate traffic for the social side - comments, contests, etc That too is something continue to strive at. I probably wouldn't blog if there was not a social side to it. -
neither a hobby or for money, my blog is an extension of what I do as an artist. I love doing it. The added advantage is that the public ask about my work and I am able to send them to my blog. I don't have a lot of traffic, but I do have long term regulars, and visitors who I respect professionally.

I'm in the same boat as some here. I didn't start blogging to make money, it's working (I'm not making any), and I get my reward from doing the writing and knowing that people are reading it, few though it may be. Should someone feel the need to start paying me to do it, that would be nice, but I don't see that in the cards anytime soon.

I've been blogging since 2002. I only made any serious money for a few months doing paid posts on my current blog - the rest of the time, it's my hobby. I don't do it for a paycheck, I do it because I love to write and I have something to say. Which makes me 10 times the blogger anyone who gets into it just for the money, IMHO.

I don't agree if we just concern about how to monetize blog. If that's true, blogging is just become another black market. People who blog just for money is have no humanity, they are web-machine-maniac!
I love great content, and if the reason is about spirit of giving, I do nod for it. -
Instead of trying to make it a commercial success (although Adsense is present), my blog is more of a catalog or journal of the art I've collected over the years. It's a personal thing, but I feel the need to share my enthusiasm and hope others will comment on what they see and how it affects them. I've tried to include as many resources as possible to make it a valuable destination to all those interested in art.
