What if you and 6 to a dozen of your blog "friends" that you feel you know best were to get together for an actual personal meeting at some agreed on location? (Central Ohio maybe - grin). And set down for an afternoon of coffee/talk fest/socializing? (with no avatars to hide behind) How do you imagine it would go?
Would you yourself feel insecure being there in person. (big grin)

Just a fantasy thought. Wondering how I would do. Wondering about others.

    That would be a blast.

I just met up with a fellow blogger from Portland for drinks and we had a riot...but it was awkward for the first minute or two
  3. nothingprofound
I'd love it-what fun. But let's make it a beach in Malaysia or Thailand.
  4. Floormodel
I've met a few on my online friends. Some from the US, others from England and Norway. I'd love to meet a few more. Thailand sounds good to me too!
  5. timethief
I might be slightly awkward at first but that would pass. FWIW Ohio wouldn't be my first choice when it comes to a blogger party destination. ... lol

I have very dry sense of humor. My facial expressions, body language and gestures speak volumes. In person I can make people laugh either with me or at me quite easily. But facial expressions, my body language and gestures can't be seen online, so I know I come across as being more serious and less fun than I really am.

      Vegas... LOL!
    2. timethief
      Yo! Great idea!
    3. dbowles1017
You guys can come to Vegas and celebrate my b-day, but it won't be until October or beginning of November
    4. Floormodel
      Vegas works for me!
but there will need to be time for me to play poker too.

I've met people online before - from forums...

A couple were VERY different than their online personalities - but one in particular - We now consider VERY MUCH FAMILY.

I would meet others - especially in a group setting - it was fun, and it was worth it.

My newfound family member is one of the most WONDERFUL people in the world - and I am sooooo glad to have met her, and her entire family - they have become our family - and I can't imagine anyone better in this world to claim as family!
  7. JonnyDunMind
I reckon it would go pretty awesomely. I'd be perfectly comfortable, although I don't blog about personal issues. I'm pretty sure it would be good.

    Errrrr

I live at Australia. I doubt anyone wants to visit my home town to immerse themselves in the bath of Swine flu viruses. Probably a tonic for immunity
    1. muzungumalaika
Oh Roen if the meeting could be in Australia it would be simply marvellous, so you can be our guide with your camera, while talking about blogcatalogs members and blogs. No fear, I'm sure I will perfectly feel comfortable, feel at home, like here in this socialnetwork!

Oh Egads - then he'd be taking pictures of us -- AGGGGGGHHH!

Oh wait - he makes people look good... Ok - so that wouldn't be so bad then.

If he could just make me look as lovely as some of his photographs, that is... LOL!
    3. hatingtherain
Autralia is awesome, I'd LOVE to go there some day.
    4. Sam1982
NZ is up to 100 cases of it - but on that note, it is winter - it is the flu season. Just wait for the alarm bells to go off during flu season in the northern hemisphere later on in the year.

I think Oz is looking good as a potential venue for this project... Now, who can loan me about £700 for the flight?
  9. crpitt
I spent nearly all of September last year travelling and staying with blogging chums on the east coast of America, twas a great experience.
    1. muzungumalaika
he is an artist, I'm sure he will, are you so bad looking? now i'm courious...
  10. bettieblogger
I think it would be alot of fun .. but I'd bring a taser in case any of you turn out to be nutjobs
    1. nothingprofound
O well, that spoiled it for me. The last time I got blasted with a taser, I couldn't blog for weeks.
  11. ThriftShopRomantic
I've met two different sets of blogging friends. I've enjoyed both times immensely.

They were all consistent personalities online, though, so I felt pretty confident everything would be just fine-- and taser-free.
    1. Rory
It's really hard to disguise your personality, especially in these discussions, after you've posted a significant number of "answers".

You know a consistency will emerge that will present the "real" you.
  12. LolitaV
    i would love it
  13. boytrotters
There's a handful of folks on Blogcatalog that I'd love to meet someday. Will it ever be possible? I hope so. I love meeting new people. The only anxiety I ever feel about it though is the prospect that they might find me too ugly or boring or conservative or... well, you get the idea.
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
Or not actually a cartoon pig?
  14. Sam1982
I think once the awkwardness is over we'd all have a good time given the right environment, so long as drinks and entertainment are close by I think I could get on very well with most people here.

So long as they can understand me and get past the accent
    1. dbowles1017
I don't think so. I would take the responsibility of making sure the entire trip was awkward.
    2. Sam1982
      No bad-touching!
    3. dbowles1017
      But, but, but...

You may prevent me from bad-touching, but you can't stop me from wearing a disco thong!
    4. Sam1982
yeah but thats borderline entertainment - you can leave the gimp suit behind though, now that would be awkward
    5. dbowles1017
I don't know if I can do that... We'll see.

and the thong would be on backwards. Still entertaining?
    6. Alcomum
I presume you would be wearing it on your head?..

      ;-P
    7. dbowles1017
      No. Guess again
    8. Sam1982
Yeah not my thing but I'm sure some of the ladies could enjoy a good laugh.
    9. dbowles1017
I'm sure the ladies would enjoy it.
  15. dbowles1017
I'm going to meet up with some people from a snowboarding forum next season.
    1. Sam1982
snowboarding + disco thong = bad idea
    2. dbowles1017
You're right. I need my camelpack with vodka. Oh and goggles.
  16. gijack25
Oddly enough in Europe I've seen worse. Guess people on vacation really do live by the mantra "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". Especially the Nude beachs, 90% of the women that actually take their top off here look like the old lady from "There's something about Mary".
  17. Rivy
I might afford the Vegas trip for a bloggers get-together. By bus. Plus I'd take $50 for gambling. (We could agree to split our winnings.)
    1. codesucker
We can all meet in vegas and count cards. ever see the movie 21?
  18. siralmo
if you are willing to pay i will come meet you ^^
  19. shankha72113
That's a great idea. Will try to write it down as a story on my blog someday. Thanks Ralph! Have a nice day. :-)
  20. radioflyer1980
I met up with a bunch of fellow BBS users when I was a kid dialing in to various BBS'es around Chicagoland. We met up at a restaurant for dinner. It was interesting. No one looked anything like I imagined, and I was a lot younger than everyone else.

I'd meet up with fellow bloggers and some of my regular readers that leave me comments. It would be fun.
  21. deviki
hurmmmm ohio is far away from where i stay LOL
but if i'm to meet this people ...i think it'll be great and maybe i can enjoy myself too....i'm a bit of shy person in real life
    1. Floormodel
I am too but once I get comfortable I like to think I'm exactly who you read posting here.

unless you add alcohol to the mix, then apparently I get a wee bit sarcastic
  22. Shiley
I'm relatively close to Ohio. I haven't met any blogging friends yet. I've been crazy busy. Would anyone like to help build a house in September preferably on a Saturday in Charleston, WV?
  23. soniki
I think if there is a possibility of online get together will be the best for others who wish but can not reach on a particular location.

    kisoni
  24. christibroer
I'm a people person so it would go great! And as to a central location...and well, it would probably end up being in Kentucky somewhere!!!
  25. MissSuzie
I would jump at the chance to meet you guys! I know we'd have a good time and we'd all blog about it, of course.
    1. dbowles1017
I wouldn't blog about it. Unless something crazy stupid fun happened.
    2. MissSuzie
If I'm there, something crazy stupid fun is bound to happen.
    3. dbowles1017
I don't know if old pervy men wil... never mind. You're probably right.
  26. cathy13
Funny, I have thought of this and wondered how many we would still like if met in person. I am hoping ALL but somehow I don't think so!
  27. jyotishman
Ralph, It Would Be Delightful. Yes Only That, I Will Certainly Need To Become A Lot Richer To Come Down All The Way To Ohio. LOL

The Thought Is Great But. I Have, Personally, Met Two Of My Orkut Friends In Delhi. And The Meeting Was AWESOME. No Hiding, No Pretentions, None Insecurities. On The Contrary, We Were All Excited. I Think We Were The Same Infront And We Were The Same Online And Same Over Phone. Planning To Meet Again. Very Soon.
  28. deoangel
I think that it would be fun. Of course, meeting someone initially will always give you butterflies, but I think that we may have a whole lot in common. Hopefully, no stalkers or rapists, though...lol
  29. Rory
There is a certain number of people who consistently post on these discussion threads - you know who you are - so, I think that if that "core" group was to get together, we'd know who we're meeting.

And, if we like them here, we're bound to like them in person.
  30. Epicharis
I'd definitely be up for a meet up...if only I didn't live on the other side of the Atlantic from most of you!

I think it would be fun if people arranged to meet in a fairly busy bar and had to identify one another by an item that related to their avatars...that would please me muchly...
    1. dbowles1017
I don't know. I don't think anyone would be able to recognize me from an item relating to my avatar.
    2. Epicharis
I don't know....you could come along with spotlight as a date
  31. ladylyf
It would be great! Top of the list is TT and Melinda. I would love to meet them coz i really admire and respect the little i know of them online. And they get to choose the venue!
