Do: Love, cuddle, tickle, talk to

Don't: Stress out over, shake, use as a basketball

There is a book "Your baby's first 1 year". They gave it to us at the hospital. A good guide

Don't lay them on their belly. I got a wedge @ babies r us it kept them on their side.

Do rock and sing them to sleep...don't ever let someone tell u it spoils them. They are only babies once.

Oh and warm the wipes in your hand before you change them, they are used to it being a constant 98.6...this mean cold world isn't fun for the first couple of weeks.

Ps BABY BURRITO...wrap them tight.they are used to being in a tight spot. If u notice the startle and act like they are falling, keep em wrapped up

Saying all this makes me miss my babies sooooo much. I love being a mom!!!

I used a woolen blanket for my baby and she grew up hating blankets. Use cotton.. Anyway thats just my theory from my daily observations

      Poor baby....wool is itchy...

Oh and definately nurse....not only does the mom make the exact formula the baby needs,it is also uphoric...plus it makes your uterus contract back down quicker, which means the weight comes off faster.

U are soooooooo right about that...

Don't bathe until the chord comes off. Make sure everytime you change the baby get some alcohol and clean around the chord really good.

Also don't rely on a book. Every baby is different. The first couple of weeks are tricky, but mama knows best. The motherly instinct kicks in and you can't remember not ever being without your baby...

Oh and this is easier said than done, but except help! I got a case of the baby blues after jayleigh was born,it was because I thought I was supposed to do everything. I wouldn't even let ted sleep with us because I was afraid he would have a night terror...
With kendall it was a breeze...I allowed help from everyone!!!

"mama knows best". how if first baby
  7. HollytheHousewife
Because the instinct kicks in. The baby lived inside of mama for 40 wks. You already know a pattern of awake and sleep. You are already in tune with what he/she likes...ya don't spend an hr of throwing up taco bell if your baby liked mexican. So if u are nursing remember the things you ate that agreed with you.
Also,I'm not saying you won't make mistakes,bc I'm sure I have made TONSSSS,but if u have a meltdown moment (which u will) take a breath and know it won't be that way forever....

THIS TO SHALL PASS...that's what I would tell myself

      unless she has postpartum depression...

That's what I was saying. I had the baby blues. I don't know if it was ppd or not,but I do know I needed others help, and there is nothing wrong with getting it.

Classical music (esp. stuff with violins). Peer-reviewed clinical research shows marked developmental advantages in the first year of life, persisting through adulthood.

Don't let them sleep in the baby carrier because it will effect there breathing when they get older.

    do use plenty of airfresheners
    don't listen to motherinlaw
    1. exinco
"don't listen to motherinlaw" i think this is funny
  12. HollytheHousewife
Well I let my girls sleep in the baby carrier. Jayleigh had acid reflux BAD!!! She slept in her carrier for the first 3 mos. So her food would stay in her tummy and not come up.

Do feed baby and change diapers

Don't drop hair drier in baby shower
    1. exinco

      thanks.
