What is Göteborg? Is it a city in Sweden or just a strange swedish word that is difficult to pronounce?

Some years ago the City of Gothenburg decided to solely use the Swedish name of Göteborg (instead of the English name Gothenburg) in all official context, when communicating in English.

There has been many different opinions regarding this "switch". Personally I think that the English name is really nice and easy to pronounce, so why make things difficult?

What do you think? Do you prefer Gothenburg or Göteborg?

    Göteborg is the name of the club that heavily defeated my club Besiktas years ago in european champions league !! So i prefer Gothenburg

    Well, both of the names are good, While in Sweden, Göteborg looks great while pronouncing, and Gothenburg has always been popular around the world for many years :), I would like to use both of them depending on the situation.
