What is it About Texas?

I've lived here in Houston, TX for about 8 months now and it still kind of rubs me wrong. Maybe I'm a jaded urbanite, but it just feels....wrong to me. It dosen't quite click...I can't explain it really.

Am I the only one who doesn't "favor" Texas? I need clarification.

Hubby doesnt like it but that is because while working on the oil rigs when he was younger he stayed drunk when he wasnt at work. He doesnt have that many memories about it. lol

I have never been to Texas but isnt everything bigger there?

My thieving neighbor is now there so I really dont want to go.

Well I can first of all see why he was drunk the whole time...I too drown my sorrows in booze here. Is everything bigger in TEXAS....YEP, everything but the minds of the people who reside here and their buildings aren't that big either...the center of their city is bigger than many but not really that big at all....and kind of spread out. The people are the size of water buffalos and people take pride in over eating...it's like a sport.

      Just the state.

      Guilty by association maybe...

I've only been to Texas once, and I liked it. Nice and dry. And hot.

To each his own. I've been all around Texas, and I love it I've lived in Houston, Galveston and Austin... and I enjoy visiting museums, natural sights, monuments, presidential homes & libraries, space program hubs, etc. all over the state.

I was born in California, but have lived in two other countries and seven other states. Texas is the only place I returned to twice out of choice. Like any other locale, it is what you make it. If your major issue is closed-minded people who think eating is a sport, well... you'll find those all over the world, trust me. Perhaps you just haven't found the local friend group that helps you stay connected yet

I don't know much about Houston, but I've lived in the Dallas area for about 3 years. I love the weather and the people are friendly for the most part. Dallas is kind of uppity and I'm a bit out of place at the mall in my jeans and t-shirt, but I don't care. It's warm. I'm happy.

Forgot to mention - the politicians down here are downright nutty. I'm running for Governor. LOL

I hate Texas. But that is mainly due to the Texas (the college). And Colt McCoy. I'm tired of hearing his name. But since the last 2 times we played, we beat them, it's not as bad when a Texas fan starts talking.

i've never been - my cousin and her family recently moved to Houston from Sweden - they seem to like it, but I think if you live in snow and "highs" of 55 you'd love some heat too LOL
