I'll start. During the winter time, I set up my wife's tent in our living room and let the little ones "camp out" in it on the weekends. We make popcorn, and watch a Disney movie.

We love Halloween at our house, I have costume boxes stuffed full of wigs and dress up clothes.

When the older girls were about 8 and 10, we went to IHOP all with wigs on, one was a red bob with light-up devil horns, one was a clown wig, I think I had on a '20s bob. It was so fun because we were acting all 'normal' but looking crazy.

@RTBjr73 - we used to do that too.. thanks for the fond memory! My son is now 16 and I'd need a pretty big tent and a bigger living room - he is over 6'5 and the size of a defensive tackle!

      aaahhhhhhh...he wouldn't fit in our tent either...lol

For birthdays I go all out. Two of my kids are summer babies we have a little wading pool that we fill w/ lots of cornstarch and water. Squirt guns, water ballons, chalk, games, a b-day cake that takes 2 hours to decorate and dinner of course.

    THat's a super idea.

My six year old daughter and I work on her camera skills, and act out plays or movie scenes...She's quite the little creative type. I'm more analytical/engineerish, so it is often quite a clash of interests, but these two are our centering points.

EDIT: We also spend time adventuring. I'm a storm chaser by hobby, and when we go, she likes to go, too. We've seen lots of great little remote spots that we often stop and forget about the storms by the time its done.

We sing, loud (and in my case wildly off key) when we get caught in the rain--oddly, even though my daughter is in middle school and my stepkids are teenagers, I don't seem to embarrass them...their friends will sing right along with us, and dance in the rain.

And we dance in elevators. Only if we're alone and the doors are closed. When the elevator stops, we put on our serious faces and walk out as if we hadn't been headbanging or doing the twist or whatever two seconds before.

We sing out loud in the car on the way to school, tell each other "gross out" stories (Dad does NOT get involved) sometimes camp out on the Family Room floor, dance to oldies and eat popcorn, stand on the upstairs loft, look out and try to find the moon at night and sing silly songs in the morning. - Nards

we'll sing along to Madness records in the car as we drive along. When we go on long journeys, we'll start silly games like spot the (colour) car - I usually pick a really bizarre colour to keep it going a bit.

I also get inpromptu cuddles and hugs from my two when i have them for weekends from their mums - 12 and 9 respectively but it's nice.

that's cool... you are lucky...my 5 and 2 year old tell me shut up when I song is playing...but they like my goofy dancing.

I light lots of candles (yes, being sure to do so safely) around the house and turn out the lights and we play a game called "haunted house," my kid's favorite game. We pretend I'm the teacher, my daughter is a student named "Lily" and my son is a student named "Aidan." We get on the school bus(aka the sofa) and take a field trip to a haunted house. We pretend we get points for finding spooky items, such as mummy's teeth, but you only get points if you are the first person back to the school bus (sofa) with the item. We also make up different aspects of the game as we go along.
