    Is it, perhaps, called "Leichtenstein?"

It's a small town named 'Vaduz'

Also, the country name is Liechtenstein, not Leichtenstein

Now thats a place you don't hear about often.

I was in Schaan in the late 90's.

The capital is Vaduz, although i had to look up the spelling.

One of the most beautiful places in Europe.

Hmm Schaan is the largest town in Leichtenstien !

      Are you German ??
    2. csiunatc
      No Swedish.

no problem, but in German the 'ie' versus the 'ei' makes a big difference in sound and also meaning

'ie' is an ee sound, whereas 'ei' is an eye sound. Most German words have different meanings based on which one you use.

Vaduz is the capital city and the seat of government of the principality of Liechtenstein.

Another fascinating fact about Liechtenstein is that the tune of its national anthem is the same as that of the United Kingdom "God Save The Queen." The lyrics are different though, of course.

BTW I have a blog which is about Europe. It's really only just started, and it looks like it's just going to be a set of fairly random thoughts, impressions, and images associated with the ideas and the ideals of Europe and the European Union. I like it, and I hope you will too. (I know this is a shameless piece of blog promotion!)

It's interesting to remember that once, not so very long ago (only about 200 years), the country we now call Germany was a chaotic patchwork quilt of tiny principalities, duchies, kingdoms, and states like Liechtenstein. Most of them had their own little private army, and they often went to war against their neighbours.

Liechtenstein is in the news today. It looks likely that it will sign a deal with the European Union on bank account searches.
