There are endless articles on RSS feeds out there... but rss feeds allow a user to post your posted content in a reader, a home page, a widget or other media they enjoy.
For example, you can build a personal MSN homepage, and then import my content into a little section of your home page.
Feeds also allow other blogs to post your content on their page.. I have an RSS widget that does this on the left menu bar of my ezine.
Feeds also allow news services to easily pick up your content and distribute your articles on news networks like Ice Rocket.
Feedburner is the easiest, most user friendly way to create a universal feed in my opinion.... I wouldn't have a blog without it. -
For two simple examples
-- I have my blog feed displaying on my Facebook profile, visible to all my friends and anyone on my networks (basically all of southern California, plus academic institutions) will see it.
-- I added an RSS feed on my Squidoo lenses in the same niche. My best Squidoo lens has PR5. So that gave my blog a kickstart. -
Someone else can publish your RSS into their blog, not just you all of you that open your feed. If you publish 2 articles in a day they publish someone's feed may 10s a day. So that's why their blog have highest rank than yours in google.
Is this good?
