Not too terribly sure IE has an upgrade I assume you use IE. I need to upgrade too. This is happening on my blogs and even on my Google homepage.
    1. roentarre
I see. So this is an internet explorer issue then?

      Thanks for the reply
    2. Shiley
I think so. My hubby will be bummed he hates change.

I have IE and seem to have all kinds of weird issues...not photo, but other stuff. It has been suggested I switch to Firefox. Don't know enough tech stuff to offer any advice, just mentioning this...

DIdn't switch, but I might at some point.
    1. timethief
There are no technical issues with downloading and using a Firefox browser. It's a point and click process that can be done very quickly. Adding a Firefox browser is just that an addition you still have the original IE browser and your can choose which one to use.

Except that I cannot post to my blog from FF. I can get the window, but it is nonfunctional.

I'm having the same internet problems, too, especially with Blogger (CookingAH just told me he's having trouble accessing my new blog). I upgraded to IE8, thinking it was an Explorer problem. It's not and IE8 is a pain in the butt. DON'T UPGRADE TO IT IF YOU CAN AVOID IT!

      I think it's a Google problem...yesterday, every time I clicked my
"customize" button on my blog, it went to my Google account page!

Unfortunately, Google doesn't seem to have a way to report a problem that isn't in the FAQ, so new problems cannot be addressed as the user forum is *bleeping* useless and it seems to be the only place to post previously unaddressed problems.

      Any ideas?
    3. timethief
      No ideas - sorry.
    4. wildStarr3
@ TT - thanks for the link, I wasn't too sure about the whole process.

Here's the link that you can use to download a free Firefox 3.0.10 browser from.

The Blog post always saved in a server. The content you create is managed in the server and what you see with your browser is a well organized view created using "HTML & CSS", which also is kept at the server side. The pages are created using "ASP .NET / PHP / JSP" etc. which are server side technologies again.

I mentioned this tech details as if there is a view problem of your blog, obviously it is for either of the two.
      1) You have used some "Javascript / HTML" in your page that creates the problem. The browser issues I mean.
      2) Something has gone wrong with the browser of your own computer. In that case you can use Google Analytics to get an idea which browser is mainly being used to view your blog. And then optimize the blog for that browser.

The verdict is, the server side problem cannot make your blog available at one browser and not on another. The newly written script / theme / template is where the problem lies.

Try to switch to bloggers default templates and see if it works.
    7. roentarre
@Wildstar, thanks for the feedback. I think I might need to consider to switch to wordpress after all...

It's not a bad idea to have more than one browser, especially if you have a website/blog.
It's nice to be able to see how your site appears in various browsers, it can be a big help in deciding how to design.

Hi! I'm using IE7 and Google Chrome on an old Win XP machine. In IE7 the only thing I can see happening is that your google ads go into your sidebar which defaces some of the text etc there. In Chrome these ads are cut off to the right.

I think your LinkWithin Widget is a new addition but I see nothing wrong happening there.

On a number of occasions IE7 aborted opening your sites, but after I deleted my browser history they came up OK.

    Take Care,
    Peter

You can check cross browser compatibility here browsershots.org
The bottom line on browsers is that IE6 is a lame browser that drives web developers crazy and there are still approximately 15.4% people on the net using the dratted thing. www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp
There's no point in trying to get your blog to display well in IE6. But that's the least of your problems.

      @TT

Thank you so much for the help.

It seems to be a problem in the webscript or programming. I would see what else I could do about that...
  5. weblogian
It is showing my locally hosted wordpress blog. 3 of them.
  6. sarah123
last night I couldn't access my blog. Figured out IE was the culprit. Downloaded firefox. Works so much better.
  7. bettieblogger
having the same problems today .. thought at first that maybe it was my new anti virus/security prog but it seems that's not the case as so many of you are having the same issues ..

I'd say, 90% of the blogs I try to open abort & close on me .. nothing else though, just blogs .. very odd indeed.
  8. trailofpen
Firefox is really strict with css. If you edited your code and did so sloppily (I'm not trying to be mean btw) firefox will not play well with it. IE, on the other hand, is very forgiving with sloppy css and will display a page when other browsers won't. I'd look at your code, but I don't have time because I have to jog right now.
    1. shankha72113
Change the theme / script and check with Google Analytics or similar program to get the browser status.

      Then optimize for that browser.

Always try to use a theme which is cross - browser compatible.

      Cool!!
    2. roentarre
@trailofpen, That would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I will post the codes to you via your email?
  9. roentarre
    @shankha72113

I have changed a few themes and problems persist.

So maybe I should get rid of link within. The problem started after I added this feature into the page layout...
  10. jtsantos
what is exactly wrong with your site? I have visited all of them and everything seems okay to me. are you using IE?

    ditch it and use Firefox
    1. SweetViolet
I can't post to my Blogger/Blogspot blog in FireFox. The compose window comes up but is non functional.

I have tried this on three computers, so I know the problem is FF because I can access the blog compose window and use it in IE but not on the two computers that use FF. People should be aware of this as a potential problem before they opt for FireFox.
  11. timethief
    @roentarre
The invalid markup could be a problem with the templates? Are they Blogger templates?
    1. codesucker
not if it never was an issue before.

Also, getting blogspot to validate can make a grown man cry. @roentarre my blogs don't validate either. Wordpress just won the internets
    2. timethief
Sorry about the weird break there -- browser crash -- too many open windows and tabs

This blogger knows his stuff. He brought to may attention the fact that guess who has non-compliant templates - Blogger!

"I bring your attention to my test blog over there that has one single post and no changes to the CSS or HTML. It is right out of the box at opposablethumbz.blogspot.com/
      368 errors and 85 warnings"

Every time I hear an ingenue blogger extol the virtues of Blogger I'm ready to hurl.
  12. codesucker
I don't notice any problems, I checked all the sites in Firefox. I wonder what browser most of your visitors use? For me it's firefox, you can see this in google analyitics

I hope you're not referring to the operation aborted bug? It says that it can't load the page and gives an error - that's IEs problem though, not your blogs. (Actually it's bloggers problem!, see roe's link below)

What TT said about IE6 is sooo true, it's a web developers nightmare when a client is checking over their site in IE6 and not understanding the word 'update'
  13. roentarre
I just got one nice member telling me that blogger.com is trying to resolve the issue in this link

    knownissues.blogspot.com/2009/05/some-users-are-seeing-operation-aborted.ht...
    1. timethief
It wouldn't load the first 2 times I tried and I got lucky the 3rd time around
      Thursday, May 21, 2009

Some users are seeing an 'Operation Aborted' error message when trying to load their blogs from Internet Explorer. We're looking into this and will update this message when we have a fix.

      We apologize for the inconvenience.
      Labels: following, internet explorer, outstanding

So the bottom line here is that you have two problems.
      (1) The known issue they are working on.
      (2) Templates that are neither HTML nor CSS compliant.

I'm using IE, but a friend uses FF and they're having problems as well on the Blogger site. Neither of us can get to our blogs - We get the box that says, "IE cannot open internet site..." Then it aborts the try to get to the site and I'm left with a white page.

I've changed the settings for cookies and privacy and nothing works.
    1. SweetViolet
I'm on IE8 and my Blogger blog is accessible (I just updated it and it's fine). I can't post if I use FF, though...the compose window comes up, but it doesn't function.
  15. becthomasphotograp
I'm using IE8 on XP and I can open your 50mm blog with no problem, your other two the operation was aborted. I've had varous issues with Blogger blogs, I always have to try to submit my comment more then once it get it to actually work, it's why I use Wordpress. My friend uses FireFox and she's has alot of bizare issues with her blogger blog also. I really think it's a blogger problem.
  16. roentarre
    Thanks everyone for the help

I read a post on this chap's recent post and got the problem resolved.

It is due to the friend follower widget. As long as the widget is shifted to the bottom of the layout, the problem resolves...

Thank you, code. Really appreciated. This forum is really helpful and I am glad that everything becomes fine in the end

:::::How To Fixed Explorer Abort Bug::::::

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet here on BC, however I found what the problem is with Explorer not loading Blogspot blogs. If you remove Google Follower, your site will load normally.

This issue started about three or four days ago.... I had it.... removed Google Follower widget and had no further problems.

Blogger is aware of the conflict with IE and is working on it.

And Roentarre, moving the widget to the bottom doesn't fix the problem, it just allows your site to load before it GETS to the problem....It still can create issues for some users

:::::How To Fix Explorer Abort Bug::::::

I'm going to make this post twice, so everyone sees it.

The conflict is with the Google Followers (friends) widget. Remove the widget and your blog should have no further conflicts with Explorer.

No your computer isn't messed up.... no your blog isn't messed up.... It's Explorer And Google.
    1. roentarre
I see. Thanks for the reply

Violet - I don't have a problem posting in FF - It is the ONLY browser that I use - and I have never posted in IE...

Are you using the most up to date FF?
    (just a thought)

Also - are all your Microsoft patches up to date?

    Also - uhm... I can't think...

You guys - I'm having NO problems visiting your blogs.

I personally think Microsoft is exploiting bugs against FF and Google -- a friend's computer would not accept FF - until I FTP downloaded it.

I think that microsoft (IE) and Google are in a technical battle - so the conflicts are being exposed and exploited.

    It's a sad monopoly thing - IMHO
