Well, how about I start.
"Whatever the Lord pleases He does, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and all the deep places." - Psalm 135:6
FYI: For all those people who think i'm just doing this to stuff Christianity down your throat I want to say that you are utterly mistaken. This is sincerely my favorite quote ever!
Now, sincerely, what is yours?

"Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, exhibit number one is what the seraphs, the misinformed, simple, noble-winged seraphs, envied. Look at this tangle of thorns."
Nabokov, Lolita
I have no idea why, but I think this is the most beautiful phrase ever written. Nabokov had a way with words no other author does... -
"Ask your doctor if getting off your ass is right for you." I think this is a great quote, because I think a huge number of people who are suffering from physical or mental problems could be cured with just that prescription, instead of popping pills. If people would exercise, a lot of doctors would be out of work.

Since philosophy is the art which teaches us how to live, and since children need to learn it as much as we do at other ages, why do we not instruct them in it?
Teach him a certain refinement in sorting out and selecting his arguments, with an affection for relevance and so for brevity. Above all let him be taught to throw down his arms and surrender to truth as soon as he perceives it, whether the truth is born at his rival’s doing or within himself from some change in his ideas.
Socrates and then Archesilaus used to make their pupils speak first; they spoke afterwards. ‘Obest plerumque iss discere volunt authoritas eorum qui docent.’ [For those who want to learn, the obstacle can often be the authority of those who teach] -

"I haven't the slightest idea how to change people, but still I keep a long list of prospective candidates just in case I should ever figure it out."
— David Sedaris (Naked)
"Real love amounts to withholding the truth, even when you're offered the perfect opportunity to hurt someone's feelings"
— David Sedaris (Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim)
"If you aren't cute, you may as well be clever."
— David Sedaris (Me Talk Pretty One Day)
"On Undecided Voters: "To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of sh*t with bits of broken glass in it?”
To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked."

Surprised no one mentioned Thoreau. Some of his quotes I like:
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer."
"I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion."
"Beware of all enterprises that require a new set of clothes."
"Do not worry if you have built your castles in the air. They are where they should be. Now put the foundations under them."
"Any fool can make a rule, and any fool will mind it."
I also like ee cummings:
"I would rather learn from one bird how to sing than to teach 10000 stars how not to dance." -
"Imaginary friend? Huh! I NEVER have had imaginary friends!" The ol' artist coot blurted. He was taken back by such an idea. "Well, what about me?" said the Muse. There was a slight smirk to her question.
"You? What do mean?" the ol' artist coot barked back. "Ha! If YOU were IMAGINARY you sure as hell wouldn't always be bugging me the way you do! 'Do this.' 'Do that.' Shee...." He leaned back from the keyboard. Stretched. Ah, my...he thought. She CAN BE a bitch! He laughed. He had to laugh. Shook his...ah, hell, that's just her. I like her anyway.

From "Sympathy", by Paul Laurence Dunbar:
I know why the caged bird sings, ah me,
When his wing is bruised and his bosom sore,
When he beats his bars and would be free;
It is not a carol of joy or glee,
But a prayer that he sends from his heart's deep core,
But a plea, that upward to Heaven he flings –
I know why the caged bird sings.[ -

and
To everything there is a season,
a time for every purpose under the sun.
A time to be born and a time to die;
a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
a time to kill and a time to heal ...
a time to weep and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn and a time to dance ...
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to lose and a time to seek;
a time to rend and a time to sew;
a time to keep silent and a time to speak;
a time to love and a time to hate;
a time for war and a time for peace.
