LOL. In Los Angeles... people look at you like you're crazy when you randomly say "hello" to them. They immediately go on the defensive. Amazing how times are changing...

But personally... if you did it in a way that wasn't creepy, I'd respond in kind.

Hello and Welcome to Blog Catalog.
There is a great Blog Catalog E-book. It's comprehensive and very helpful when it comes to understanding the ins and outs of this particular social network and how to use it effectively.
Complete Guide: How to Use and Help for Blog Catalog

I strongly recommend that you purchase it and use it.

A good starting point is to check out the Directory under the subjects that your own blog is categorized and locate other BC members who blog on the same or similar topics. You can then visit their blogs and if you like what you find you can mark the bloggers as "friends" and join the "neighborhoods" for their blogs. www.blogcatalog.com/directory
    Best wishes for happy blogging.

I say... "I NEED AN ADULT! I NEED AN ADULT!"

But I process innocent greetings differently than others.

    or Good afternoon/evening
    depending on the circumstances.

      There we go...
    2. robertstevenson

I live in a small town & always say "Good Morning" or "Hello" as I approach someone yet most people, and these are the same people I see every day, just look right through me. I've often thought... what if one day I swore at them instead? Would they produce a reaction?

there've been studies done on this. a LOT of people will react just to their assumption from your tone of voice. so if you say "hey asshole" in the same voice you say "hey daniel" ... most people won't realize what you really said.

i have yet to put this to the test for myself ....

    In Florida, we say "Howdy"

In NY City we say "Go F&*$ yourself"
    1. Anniepooh
      LOL! Not true about NY!
    2. robertstevenson
Ekim, This lady stopped me while on a train from SC to NYC. I was 15, saying Howdy to just about everyone I passed. She grabbed me and said, "Sonny, you oughtta just go ahead and give me your money now - if you do that in New York, you'll be mugged for sure.

I went shopping in NYC every year around the holidays. I lost track of time once and had to ask someone, "Do you know what time it is or should I just go F#ck myself?". The guy laughed and told me the time.

People in NYC generally have a good sense of humor.

    I would respond in kind.

I would say hello. Saying hello is harmless and it's nice to be greeted. I think it is sad that people are scared of someone saying hello. What is happening to the world we live in?
  13. Anniepooh
"Morning! How are you?" Does that make me weird? LOL I say hi to each person I pass...
  14. Danz
I would say hello in return while walking away.
  15. drdental
I always thought it was common courtesy to politely respond with "hello" or something of the like. I don't know, maybe it's a Midwestern thing. I agree with Jess, the world is becoming increasingly unfriendly.
  16. kdawg68
I'd react by saying "No!!! We've no shrubberies here!!"
  17. Tigress
    I'm a friendly person. I'll say Hi!
  18. balidreamhome
deferent place deferent behavior and I think the world is remain the same but people act differently these days, perhaps this cause by the pressure of life and I don't know maybe 'blogger warming' LOL, certainly I will replay Hi, to other who pass by and say Hello to me...

    Hi everyone....
  19. DocNicole
I don't know depends on the intention...and if you are going to buy me something, or open the door.
    1. balidreamhome
none sort of that just be nice and friendly...
  20. Arcticulates
I would say in answer, HI!! How are ya?
I would do that in San Francisco while visiting my friend, and she would say to the people, *#*#! off! Which always startled me...I am just happy by nature, and seeing someone react in anger for no reason really surprises me.

Probably "Wassup?" Depends on what part of town we are in at the time. There are some not so pleasant areas in every city.
