One of mine is Blog Rank: 29.8 of 100

Obviously some are going to be better. The other 29.8 percent anyway.

Also the Recent Views. When are they calculated to and from? Is it daily? And what's the difference between hits and views?

      Your BC Blog Rank
      Locating your BC blog rank
      Go to your BC Profile page and click "Manage Blogs". When the page opens you will see your BC blog rank.
      * Blog Rank: ___ of 100
      * Recent Views: ___
      * Recent Hits: ___
      * Total Views: ___
      * Total Hits: ___

      Note: I have observed that this data above only appears to be updated once daily at midnight.

      What do the BC Blog Stats mean?
      Blog Rank - a special formula that analyzes your hits, views, comments, neighborhood members and other special secret ingredients to create a numeric score based on a 100 point scale. Your Blog Rank is primarily used to determine the order blogs appear in our Directory and Search Results. The higher your score the better your placement.
      Views - The number of unique visitors that have looked at your BlogCatalog listing
      Hits - The number of unique visitors that have clicked through to your blog from BlogCatalog.
      From: www.blogcatalog.com/help/

      Possible Factors
      Note: I have observed the BC Blog Ranks are updated every Sunday at midnight when they start from ZERO (0) again.

      (1) The number of friends you have marked, and the numbers of members who have marked you as a friend;
      (2) The number of neighborhoods you have joined by adding blogs as favorites, and the number of members who have added your blog as a favorite and joined your neighborhood;
      (3) The number of blogs you have rated and reviewed;
      the number of members who have have rated and reviewed your blog and the values given;
      (4) your forum presence and what you offer there to the community, as well as your group participation may be factors in the calculation.

      Note: Not all of the factors that go into the BC blog rank calculation algorithm are made known to members, as if they were, then members would "game the system". The BC blog rank is internal only. It does not affect your blog's Google page rank, Alexa rankings, etc.

      Why thankyou. So if my blog rank was 99.9 would that be considered better? Or is it if it was say, 1.00. Would that be the best blog rank?

      I ask because that perticular blog gets the most views/hits and has the lowest score. Where as some of my other blogs don't get as many views/hits and their score is higher. So I presumed the lower the rank the better.

        "The higher your score the better your placement." That means that 99.9/100 is a better score than 1/100.

        I'm sorry but I can't account for the the situation that you describe in your last paragraph. I believe that only an Admin member can answer that.

      Thanks tf. Maybe it has to do with the age of how long a blog has been submitted here as well. The blog with the lower rank not being submitted here as long as my other ones are. I think this has all pretty much answered my questions and curiosity anyway. =)
      I'm really tempted to upgrade my recent site I'm waiting for BC admin to approve. If they do approve it that is. Hope so, so I can see if that has a contributing factor to it as well.

          Discussion Search box --> forum sidebar
          If you search I believe you will find a thread wherein thegoodknife (BC's Lead Programmer) states that most BC Blog Ranks are in the range of 25/100.
          Best wishes with the new blog.

      Is a higher number really a better rank? OH!!
      That makes me feel a lot better with my 37/100, although that's now worse than I thought it was. Darn it!

      I think it depends on the integrity of your domain sponsor, I had to be honest... I don't like to buy expensive blog. I had search the entire internet for a free blog. Cause I am willing to fed all people curiosity. I had two blog A Google blogger and a Japanese Wiki. In google blogger I am just at 31 to 47 at BC Rank. My Japanese Wiki at first I hit 10th now i am 17.4! I am currently applying My Freewebs. Denied in Denmark. But I know Freewebs is a German Sponsor. I was accepted in EU Blog listing.

      Maybe their is site discrimination??????? Does BC Practise that????????????

      Maybe we are to use Wiki. Why don't you Try it! To be honest what I love in Freewebs is that pages has Huge memory! Their are just twenty pages allowed but every single pages can accommodate the intire world history. If this freewebs of mine is going to be accepted I just wonder how do I rank!

      I don't know if these recent discussions were as a result of my broadcast asking about blog ranking, but regardless; I want to thank everyone for their comments.

      My BC blog rank is: having much fun.
      1. TJlubrano
        Indeed I agree! As long as you're having fun, it doesn't matter what number you have!

      mine is 74.8 of 100, it helps with your ranking in your category, for example on the personal blogs page in the directory I am on the first page so that help generate traffic
    • harveyavatar
      Mine went from around 70 to around 50 when I didnt submit a blogpost for three weeks. It's back up to 67. It is nice to be on the first page of the philosophy directory, however that hardly generates traffic.
    • PussDaddy
      30.6 out of 100. whatever that means
    • PussDaddy
      From reading I guess it means my blog is really rank.
    • selfdeprecate
      Well it isn't solely based on the quality of your blog so do not get discouraged if it seems low compared to others. As mentioned above community participation, among other aspects, may have an impact on your blog rating.
    • selfdeprecate
      Also to clarify for new readers to the thread your blog ranking isn't a "percentile" as referenced in the first post.

      Wanted to bump this for other curious new people.
