Mine is 27.7, up from a low of 24. I understand this ranking doesn't actually mean crap except for determining where your blog is placed in the listing of blogs, but still I'm curious...what is yours?

Click on "dashboard", then "manage my blogs" which is on the right side.

mine varies and right this minute I couldn't tell you. But to be honest, I just focus on putting up the content and trying to build the subscribers. With my older blog, I focus on using the Google webmaster tools and I have that up to a 4 with many individual pages also ranked. I have more than 2,00 backlinks. Some I suspect are duplicates (some sites will quote me more than once). I'm just focusing on doing the same at my new blog.

Other than Google, I really don't try to figure out rank anymore--at Technorati or here. I don't pay Alexa much attention bec I don't want to install yet another toolbar and I figure most of my readers feel the same way. When I first started participating, I compared ranks with some other blogs and was pretty mystified. But hey, I like the community so I stuck around.

Also, for me, what's important is the quality of the traffic. In other words, if one influential reads me regularly, that's worth a lot.

Just my 2 pennies! best, Kay

You're right Kay, rank shouldn't matter. I mostly write for myself anyway.

mine is 55.4 Now, I will say I have no idea what that means or where I am at.Kay, I agree about the traffic, but I have to admit I do want to know where I stand. How else will I know what I should improve.

How do you get your rank up?

Etta (love that name btw, 'cause of Etta James), I study the stats and the comments especially. I use stat counter and pay for a version that goes beyond the standard log size. That has been tremendously useful--I used the free stat counter for quite awhile tho before I paid. If I get a lot of comments on a post, and the ones that attract lots of them can be surprising, I know I did something right. I got record numbers of comments, for instance, on a post about Chantix, a drug used for smoking cessation. Others on posts about an infection caused by a nasty little amoeba that thrives in still bodies of warm water in tropical and near-tropical climes.Took me completely by surprise.

I interviewed several different orgs that rank blogs for my column at The Writer and all of them had one premium in common: backlinks from well-ranked or influential blogs. Websites don't count at places like Technorati, not even if you get linky love or citations from Wall Street Journal or CNN, which I have. And there's not a single org that has a system in place to judge writing quality; it's all about the algorithms. I think an exception to that is the site, 'Blogged,' where an editor will actually view and rate and visitors can do the same.

The other part for me is branding. I focus on that a lot I guess because of all the marketing writing I did when I first started. One of my clients, Beneath the Brand, along with its parent company Talent Zoo, really is a great resource for marketing and branding info. And there are quite a few marketing blogs here at BC.

Because of my blogs, I've got myself admitted to some amazing events for interviews, increased my freelance work and gained a couple of really nice clients I don't think I'd have got otherwise. And I've met some of the coolest people on the face of the earth, some of them in person. So while rank is nice to have, I'm not sure I'll ever quite fit into the algorithm that would result in astronomical ranks anywhere. I've always been a squeaky wheel and unfortunately, I like it that way!

    Hope this helps! best, Kay

mine is around 42.2 but haven't the least idea what it means, I have a couple of steady readers and they comment , but to date I have not had anyone rate any of my post except Hiedi. but I have only been active for about 3 months and my blogs are family history not very interesting if you are not a family member.
