I've been here for about a year and a half, I think. It's been a lot of up and down, but I get a little traffic and have a lot of fun, most of the time, which is about all that I was looking to get out of the place.

Welcome.Been here 18 months and BC can be compared to
1. a market where some are trying to sell you something, look out for affiliate marketeers, adsense etc...
2. a psychology clinic - where advice is given for free - if you're not hung up on qualifications and degrees. However, there are bona vide professionals
3. Many professionals, like psychologists, MDs, lawyers, teachers, RNs, physios, naturopaths, OTs. You rarely see these active in discussions with a few exceptions.
4.Rants and Raves appear to be acceptable but there are limits.
5.Like TV, the following are regularly featured, drama, news, comedy and entertainment.
6.If you want to survive here, don't take things too seriously! Enjoy! I have made some good friends here (they don't do discussions anymore. In fact I have collaborated on projects with several people who I met on BC. My novel has been one project.
7. There have been BC members who threaten to leave, have left, left and returned, or have taken a leave of absence, the latter I do myself, when I have other commitments!
I don't usually do such a lengthy explanation. Don't know what came over me!! LOL -

Blog Catalog is very good.
As a blogger, it gave me a fair bit of not only traffic, but QUALITY traffic, as in regular readers who left comments.
It's also a good place to ask questions, find tips and get feedback. I know I've found BC very helpful in many cases.
And as someone who enjoys message boards, I'd say BC's is one of the better ones I've posted on on a regular basis.
It has its ups and downs, but every forum does. But overall, there are enough members here to keep things lively and diverse, and at the same time, it is small enough that you get to know people on a more personal basis. -

Thanx for this quick reply everybody. It looks like it is a good place to make some nice friends. I will try to check your blogs as soon as I can.

Since I've started participating in BC forums (just a week or so), I've seen a marked increase in traffic to my blog, and have received some very positive and encouraging feedback. You may take some good-natured razzing from other BC members, but almost everyone will offer advice if asked (and sometimes, even if not asked). The key, I think, is to make sure you weigh in on topics that have relevance to your blog...since mine is intended to be humorous, I mostly act like an ass about everything.
