I have been asking bloggers with an interest in art to name their favourite art gallery and say why.
Sofar people have suggested:
1] Musée d'Orsay and Musée Marmottan in France
2] Bristol City Galleries; Fitzwilliam, Cambridge; Tate Modern, London; Lady Lever Art Gallery, Liverpool; The British Museum; and The Wallace Collection in Britain.
3] Gulbenkian Museum Lisbon in Portugal
4] Guggenheim NYC in the USA and
5] National Gallery of Victoria Melbourne in Australia.
These are fine galleries, but I recognise that my respondents have largely been limited to Anglophones.
If you are interested in participating, either visit "Art and Architecture, mainly" at melbourneblogger.blogspot.com/ and leave a Comment, or note your favourite gallery here. Many thanks

i visit my local art gallery almost every two weeks. I'll usually go back and revisit all the work because my mood may have changed from a previous visit.

The closest two to my home.
In Great Falls Montana: C.M. Russell gallery. Work (mostly) of renowned cowboy artist Charles M. Russell
In Helena, Montana: Montana State Historical Society. Lots of great art and artifacts from days gone by.
Worst was the Tbilisi Art Museum in Tbilisi, Georgia. I know that Georgia is a poor country, but they had wonderful oil paintings in rooms that had open windows, high humidity, exhaust fumes and dust from vehicles on the streets. -
The New Museum of Contemporary Art

Across the street is the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art which has interesting exhibits.

My husband's body. Sometimes, It rekindle my faith that maybe something/one out there took seven days and sculpted it to perfection just for me. It is so, so hot, chiseled and proportionate!
I know you mean a place but this is the most perfect work of art/gallery I have ever come across. It takes my breath away daily!
