The Matrix. Apocalypse Now. Ok two
    1. alen4ik2003
heard about apocalypse, should check it out sometime. the name is intriguing itself!: )
    2. farangrakthai
I guess you're too young to make an educated choice...
    3. alen4ik2003
would that make you just old?
    4. farangrakthai
Well, I was a young boy when Apocalyse Now was released. I started appreciating it much later.
But I guess you were not even born...
    5. alen4ik2003
      1979 - yeah wasn't there then..
    6. farangrakthai
      Was that late?
Ok, I was an "old" boy at that time, in university.
But the comment still stands, I appreciated the movie much later and have seen it many times in the past 10 years.
    7. alen4ik2003
ok will make it a point to put it on my to watch list!
  14. shujaa
hmm... my favorite movie is the pursuit of happyness that movie very inspired my life!! Do you agree with me ?
    1. alen4ik2003
I love that movie... very inspiring. Honestly I love any movie with Will Smith!
  15. aningeniousname
It's a hard choice but I would have to go with "Taxi driver"
    1. farangrakthai
Well, I think Alen's mother was not even born when this movie was released. The one that made De Niro known. And one of my favourite also.
    2. aningeniousname
Yeah total classic I can't count the number of times I have watched it and every time I enjoy it more.
    3. nothingprofound
Have you seen "Mean Streets," also with De Niro. It's his first movie with Scorsese. It's less well known than "Taxi Driver" but I think it's a better film. I grew up in the milieu described in both films, and I think 'Mean Streets" captures it perfectly.
    4. aningeniousname
Yeah love "Mean streets" too and "Who's that knocking at my door"
I love films which show the old seedy NY of the seventies.
    5. farangrakthai
And besides De Niro, I also like Christopher Walken, and both of them in "The Deer Hunter".
I think we're starting to upset Alen as an old bunch of people living in the past...
    6. alen4ik2003
      this is even older 1976.
  16. nothingprofound
Alen, what's a favorite of yours?
    1. alen4ik2003
I knew this question was bound to come at some point..
I have so many, but if I had to choose one right now I would say "Pay it forward".:) there is so much meaning in this movie I think.
  17. farangrakthai
Well, I do not say it is not a nice one.
But I think we're right to stick to the past.
"Apocalypse Now", "Taxi Driver", "Mean Streets" and "The Deer Hunter"
    still get my vote...
    1. alen4ik2003
I shall revive this discussion after I get a chance to watch any of them!
  18. askcherlock
    "Mean Streets" was great!
  19. nothingprofound
My all-time favorite movies are from the 1950s. So intense. Emotional.

On The Waterfront-with Marlon Brando. Best performance ever by an actor
Rebel Without A Cause & East of Eden-with James Dean
    From Here to Eternity
    Sweet Smell of Success
Some Like It Hot-Hollywood's greatest comedy
  20. Onchong
    The Ten Commandments
  21. ArsenicCookies
I have a best for every situation, though I guess over all it would be a toss up between The Boondock Saints and Donnie Darko ooh ooh or Green Street Hooligans
  22. cookingasshole
    Full Metal Jacket
