I looked in the mirror yesterday mrning and found a gray hair right in the middle of my forehead where everyone could see it. I went and bought some hair color and am coloring my hair right now. So this got me to thinking about what is the color of you hair now and what is it naturally? I have had mine green blue but today it is going burgandy. The natural color is mousey brown.

    Natural is mousy brown.

I have been dyeing it various shades of red since I was 13.

    bye 18

I don't know, you look distinctly lavender to me.
    2. crpitt
      You have no hair mister

Well not on my head no.
    4. crpitt
You are seven shades of wrong

Brunette. I do admit to hitting the bottle, though! As in my tagline, "Wild Women Don't Die--They Simply Dye Their Hair."
    1. crpitt
Which I got, unlike some hehe
    2. melindaville
I'd expect nothing less from you. Seriously.
    3. crpitt
Does one do it ones self? Or does one go to the hairdressers?
    4. melindaville
I used to do it myself but I started getting orange-y, so I now trust my locks to my beloved hairdresser of 8 years, Joel. He's the best! No orange!
    5. crpitt
I always dye my ears when I do it myself or have dyed sideburns

Usually get my hairdresser to do it depending on how fast I want it done.
    6. melindaville
I don't have all that many gray hairs--but they are definitely there. I have this 'touch up' stuff that I use sometimes because my hairdresser is in San Francisco and I don't trust anyone else with my hair--so I sometimes have to wait a few weeks or a month to get back to SF.

It's a root touch up--it actually works pretty well and it doesn't seem to interfere with what Joel does.

I have black hair with dark brown highlights.
  5. SweetViolet
Varying shades of blonde, with a light sprinkling of gray.

I'm a brunette. I'm taking a break from the dye until it is absolutely necessary. My hair has been a few shades of red, I also had blonde highlights for a while, then it was honey, etc. So, both my hair and my pocket needed a break, I haven't dyed it in 2 years now.

I just looked at mine after I washed the dye out. It is not any where near burgandy like the box said (not even like the picture for my hair color) it is a bright red. I hope it tones sown after it dries a little or hubby is going to freak.
    1. crpitt
It is the curse of home dyeing, I have suffered with Ronald McDonald style a few times.
    2. melindaville
Precisely why I don't dye my hair myself. I have learned by now that I am not a hairdresser!

When I was a little girl and got a new doll, the first thing I would do was to give them a haircut. Once, I had a brand new Barbie Doll and I washed her hair and then put her under the blowdryer. Well, immediately, her face started m=e=l=t=i=n=g--and my beutiful doll turned into a gargoyle monster.

It was truly traumatic. And led to a fear of blowdryers for a while!

Brunette now. My hair was various shades of purple and orange in my adolescence.

In the winter it's a dark chestnut, in the summer it's more coppery...all depends on how much sun I get. I also have grey hairs...had them since I was two! I don't mind them at all, I don't see what the problem with having grey hair is...
    1. amybyrd21
I jsut dont want them right now. It is a self esteem issue I guess. I just told my hubby what I did and now he said he is waiting to see it.
    2. Epicharis
People always take great delight in pointing out my grey hairs...

"Oh my god! you have a grey hair! Do you want me to pull it out?"
      "Erm...no thanks"
      "Oh, why not?"
      "Why should you?"
      "......"
    3. amybyrd21
I really ticked of my sister when I found one of hers when she was 20. She had been painting andI thought it was paint in her hair and it turned out to be a grey hair and she would not talk to me for a week.

Auburn. But if I go out in the sun too much, RED
  11. nothingprofound
Dark brown, almost black. But the grey is starting to show up.
  12. Floormodel
it used to be blond when I was young, then it darkened to a brownish, now it's brownish with grey creeping in.
  13. timethief
My hair color is very dark strawberry blonde almost brown with a small silver gray patch over one eye. I've colored it (natural color) because I don't like the silver patch.
    • greencurmudgeon
      I am turning grey rapidly.
      1. timethief
Most of my friends slowly started turning gray in their 30's. My parents and their siblings and almost everyone in my family seems not to go gray until their are in their 70's. I git the patch as a badge of honor for surviving the big C.
    • stellak
Dark brown, I havent dyed my hair in like 3 years and I dont plan on doing so till the grays start showing up. I spent too many years damaging my hair, trying to make it lighter.
    • b0ll0cks
I'm shaved, but if I didn't shave it would probably be brown, gray and receding Shaved heads, its not just for bigots anymore, its the comb over of the new millennium Oh, and I really hate when strangers walk up to me and start spouting off all kinds of racist garbage because they think I'm some sort of skinhead. Morons !!!
      1. stellak
Honestly shaved heads can look quite nice on a guy, its way better than attempting combovers or other maneuvers to try to hide a receding hairline.
      2. Epicharis
you know what's interesting about skinheads being racist? Being a skinhead (in the UK) was originally about identifying with the Black British community by imitating their style...
      3. b0ll0cks
@ Epicharis I did not know that.
    • exit2013
The color of my hair is...Grecian Formula!
    • cathy13
      What day is it?
      1. Epicharis

    • bettieblogger
my hair color is red with some lovely natural silver highlights, that's right ... were calling them "highlights"
    • cookingasshole
When I was younger my hair was a nice blond but as I have been getting older it has been turning brown.
    • cathy13
Being a hairdresser, I have been every colour from darkest brown to Platinum (what I am now)

Born a redhead and dyed it various shades of red for years.

Natural red pigment has disappeared and it is a yucky flat ugly colour!

Red fades too fast so I am now blonde.
    • trailofpen
Dark brown w/ a hint of white. I've always had white hair since I was a kid, but you can't tell when I cut it short.
    • lotusb
I am a black girl, so I have what I call black-girl-black hair.
    • amybyrd21
update on hair color. It turned out a really dark purple looking. I washed it to get some of the red out and now it is what my daughter says is black cherry color. Hubby calls it purple. It is not bad and I can definetly live with it.
      1. cathy13
        @amybryd21
I know you said you like the colour

        BUT
If you want to strip out more of the colour, shampoo a couple of times with Herbel Essence or Head & Shoulders.

Another good way to deplete some colour is to slap on a deep conditioner after shampooing and wrap hair with hot, wet towel and tie a plastic over it all. Leave on for 30 min or so!

The conditioner and warmth will open the cuticle to allow more colour to escape.

That's only IF you decide you don't like it!
    • celticmusicfan
it's the color of my skin.
    • Arcticulates
I had in my younger days light brown and blonde mixture, I now have light brown, blonde and lots of white hair mixed throughout a my hair. I think it looks much better now then it did when I was younger.

I hate fussing with my hair, I keep it long so I can pull it up when I am busy, I wear it loose when I am not. I don't go to hair dressers because the first thing they want to do is cut it all off and dye it. I think it looks fine natural, and don't want to deal with the constant up-keep

Every few months I use a rinse because the iron content in our water starts turning the white hair a weird orangy color, the rinse strips off the iron build up and my hair is back to it's normal self again.

My hair is medium brown. I have only dyed it once. I dyed it blonde, but decided I like brown better, so I immediately dyed it brown again.
    • marcusmarcus
I speak for myself and all black people.. Black!
    • anthony9910
My hair is stupid, like it's dark brown with a mixture of light brown, and in summer it's almost blond LOL
    • TJlubrano
It's dark brown with lighter brown here and there.
    • amybyrd21
Mine is bacl to mousey brown. Havent decided on the next color but since I am looking into opening a business I probably need to leave it alone for now. I dont think someone is going to take someone with purple hair very serious in catering.
    • crazyTsu
      What hair?

Lately, it's dark, with these lovely little blonde strands...
