It depends on what I'm doing, and whether or not I can listen to the music at loud or quiet levels.

For inspiration motivation I will listen to songs by Mideavil Babes, or maybe Moby, or Enya that sort of thing.

For get up and get it done type of stuff i might listen to Madball, or Drop Kick Murphys, Hi-Fi and The Road Burners, Cocksparrer, or Dance Hall Crashers.

Sometimes it's a crap shoot, and I'll throw in some Ska, or punk ala Ramones or Clash.
    1. kdawg68
she's lying. I've seen her iPod playlist. Let's just say Michel Bolton's entire collection features prominently.
    2. Anok
      Heh. No.

But I do like Bette Midler
    3. kdawg68
"did you ever know that you're my hero......."

Yeah, I'm losing my man-card with every comment here, but I kinda like that one.
    4. Anok
You're going the way of Mike.

Would you like an extra helping of estrogen tonight sir?
    5. ekim941
Whoaaaa! Don't talk about me behind my back when I'm not looking.

You might make my mascara run.
    6. ThriftShopRomantic
Doesn't Anok celebrate Michael Bolton's entire catalog?

    This: www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/you-know-whats-annoying

Its creepy and dark at first, but it really is about standing up for what you believe in no matter what the consequences.
    1. Anok
I like it, it reminds me of a band I used to listen to Alexia. Good stuff.
    2. sellytapgirl
I've heard of Alexia, I think.
    3. Anok
Yeah, they are sort of techno-industrial...the vocals are what reminded me of them.
  3. robinj
I can see clearly now Johnny Nash and yes I am old
    1. DrBurst
No, i've heard that song in a movie... I think it was called ants... not sure
  4. kdawg68
sort of embarrasing, but our football highlight tape from my Junior year of high school featured this as the intro with some of our best clips. It was outdated then, but god help me, I hear this and I go back to that sesaon from 1994.

    "Roller coaster" by Major Mark
  13. Svelmoe
Back when I was in school/college/university it was always "Fatboy Slim" with Rockafellar Skank that I listed to right before I went into the fray.
For some reason that became my exam motivational song.
Don't have any other then that.
  14. RTBjr73
    "Metal Health" - Quiet Riot

ALWAYS got me pumped up before a game, or a test in school
  15. carlgalloway

    1. Anok
Which reminds me how much I like "Cashmere" too. What a great song to cast to.
  19. robertstevenson
While it's not my favorite song, The Theme from Rocky makes me stop what I'm doing, run through the streets of the city -- up to the top of the art museum steps and have a cheese steak.
    1. Anniepooh
LOL Are you in Philly, or just being funny? (as if)
    2. robertstevenson
I grew up in Philly. But I go back (in my mind) from time to time.

"You keep on aiming for the top
And quit before you sweat a drop
    Feed your empty brain
    With your hydroponic pot"

I wouldn`t exactly call it motivation, but it really cheers me up:

Depends, a lot motivates me. If I'm driving I really like the song "I Can't Drive 55"
  28. mynewplace
    i've got a feelin'
a feelin' deep inside oh YEAAAAAAH,

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcuvjYxYJz0
  29. kdawg68
Don't know if you can call it "motivating" - but a good rendition of "Minstrel Boy" (it's a very old song) always manages to stir me.

    Especially the lyrics:
"land of song, cried the warrior bard, though all the world betrays thee
one sword at least, thy rights shall guard
one faithfull harp shall praise thee."
    1. aningeniousname
Not the theme tune to Mr Ed?
    2. kdawg68
LOL - they used to play that in my stall all night long. Plus the darned peanut butter they would put in my mouth. Painfull (yet delicious) memories.
    3. aningeniousname
You think peanut butter on the gums is bad?? You should of seen how they made Lassie howl!
    4. kdawg68
playing Falco records in her presence?

    5. aningeniousname
Worse, they had fishing line attached to all 16 of her nipples and when they wanted her to howl a guy off camera would pull on them. He was so adept at getting the right noise out of her that he could actually play tunes on her. After they stopped making the Lassie films they went out on the road together and in 1978 they opened for the Eagles in Chicago.
    6. ekim941
That's the same technique I used to get my ex wife to howl. Yep, attach a string to all 16 of her nipples.

Ok, she actually only had 3.
    7. aningeniousname
She only had 3? Was she a deformed Collie?
    8. ekim941
We have 3 kids. 3 nipples seemed to work out. Any more would just be wasteful.
Not to make mountains out of molehills or anything.
    9. aningeniousname
It's lucky you married a woman with 3 nipples and then had the right number of kids. It could have been tragic if you'd had quads.
    10. ekim941
Well, I have 2. I guess I could have pitched in if I had to.

ON mY own -- Whitney HOuston

    I'm wiser now
I'm not the foolish girl you used to know
    So long ago
    I'm stronger now
I've learned from my mistakes which way to go
    And I should know
I put myself aside to do it your way
But now I need to do it all alone

And I am not afraid to try it on my own
I don't care if I'm right or wrong
I'll live my life the way I feel
No matter what I'll keep it real you know
Time for me to do it on my own...
  31. DrBurst
    Great, keep them coming
  32. ettarose
May sound funny, but "crazy" by Gnarls Barkley. No way can I stay still when that song comes on.
  33. ThriftShopRomantic
Oh, I dunno-- the Donnie Darko version of "Mad World." (Heh, kidding, kidding...) I don't think I actually have a motivating song. Maybe something they use at sports arenas, like "We are the Champions".
  34. chrissred
A motivating song for me would be something upbeat and preferably from the 80's.

"Eye of the Tiger" and "No More Tears (Enough is enough)"
    1. DrBurst
Eye of the iger is one of the best modivational songs ever.
