    Left is right.
  3. ekim941
    We are monogamous.

Heheh, I just had to say that
  4. abyks
7-10 percent of the population;left handed folks to be male.Left-handed females are truly minority.Anyone agree?
  5. abyks
My wife & daughter are lefty.
  6. Pentad
We are definitely right, and in our right minds.
  7. daniel23
You're all a bunch of lefties!
    1. ekim941
Tonight I seem to be all thumbs.

I have neither left nor right.
  8. abyks
Wonder, why people dont even notice that left-handed people are exist. Many teachers do not know how to teach handwriting to left-handed students.Facing the problem with my daughter. The teacher say my daughter cannot write. What a shame.
    1. Truthoughts
abyks: I hear ya, when I was in school, I began writing with my left hand but my teacher would say that she would fail my papers unless I wrote with my right hand... so I did. Its sad.

a high percentage of the deaf population and the gay population are lefties.

(please notice that i did not say that a high population of the lefty community is deaf or gay!)
    1. searchingwithin
I'm neither deaf, nor gay. A little happy at the moment maybe, but not gay. Some have told me I can't hear very well, but that's not because I don't hear, I just choose to ignore.
    2. ender
      umm okay.
  10. abyks
4 designers of the original Macintosh,1 of Apollo astronauts,Ronald Reagan,King George IV.They are lefty!!

Lefties Rule - but I'm an interesting one:

    Left Handed: Write/Draw/Eat/Brush/Comb Hair

    Right Handed: Throw/Bat/Bowl/Kick(oh wait that's a foot)

    Dexterious Moves: Left Handed
    Strength Moves: Right Handed

I don't know how it happened... it just happened

      OutsideMyBrain.

Good to hear it, because I'm the same way. My husband becomes a little confused by me once in a while. I don't bat right-handed though. Being a lefty-batter is a fantastic advantage. They hate to pitch to us! Well, because so few can.
    2. OutsideMyBrain
Does that mean you can switch hit? Or, do you just bat lefty?
    3. Pentad
Just bat lefty. I tried, but never got the hang of batting right. I am a righty when playing soccer, and other sports, though....well, except for tennis. Oops, and volleyball. I can't serve with my right. Another great advantage as the other side always has an automatic sense of 'where' the ball is headed after a serve...Ha! A lefty always has a few surprises, which screws up their 'perception'.
    4. searchingwithin
I'm with you on this one. I eat and write with my left hand. Most everything else I do right handed, but people tell me I do other things backwards, so I guess that means I do it left handed. And then there are other things I can do with either hand.

But if you asked me to eat with my right hand it would probably end up in my ear or worse, and a baby can write better than me with if I attempt to write with my right hand.
  12. abyks
Many experts believe it is a combination of genetics & environmental nurturing
that makes a person left or right handed.
  13. abyks
As a lefty, its a gift and a unique traits most people do not posses.
  14. ender
my sister and i both started out as lefties, but mom insisted on training us out of it. later in elementary school, i decided being a lefty was better and would periodically practice writing left-handed. i still do sometimes, but i don't really have the patience to improve my writing right handed, never mind left.

i am definitely left-footed and prefer kicking lefty. i am also goofy-footed on skateboard and snowboard (essentially, the dominant left foot is in the rear for better control).

and tonight i decided to play Wii tennis left-handed. i won, too!!
    1. Pentad
Really? My right foot would head back on skateboard. Ahh, ender. You are a Master of all trades.
    2. ender
      LOL i dunno about master!!
    3. Pentad
No? lol. I can almost see you blushing
    4. ender
lol, it doesn't take much to make me blush!
    5. OutsideMyBrain
Ah, yes, I forgot above, about skateboarding... my right foot is in back!
    6. ender
hrm. the "normal" stance is left foot in front and right foot in back. i assumed since i was "backwards" that this was a "left-footed" thing ... perhaps not.

      EDIT
oh wait. you said you kick right footed.
    7. joni
My right hand and foot are stronger than my left. I am only left-handed when I eat and when I write.
    8. Pentad
@ender. I didn't think it would take much.
  15. joni
Other people say that left-handed people are good artists. They know how to draw. Maybe some. I am left-handed but I'm not good at it. Shame on me.lol! In school, majority of the arm chairs are designed for right-handed people. At first, it was like hard for me but then I got used to it already. And I like it more.
It's hard for me to eat when the one who's at my side is right-handed So I have to give more space so that our hands won't meet.
When I and the rest of the members of the family or when I eat outside together with my friends, I noticed that when the waiters arrange the table, the spoon is positioned at the right side and the fork is at the left side. So I have to switch them.
I am the only left-handed person in my family. I also have a cousin who's a lefty. But We are not treated differently.
    1. Pentad
Ish. I hate can-openers, and everything else that is designed righty. I always sit at the end of the table with my left hand free.
    2. OutsideMyBrain
I also hate credit card machines that are made for rigthies, they are hard to sign.
    3. Pentad
@OutsideMyBrain. We need to create a union, or something. We need to protest, and let our voices be heard.
    4. OutsideMyBrain
hmmm... sounds like a good idea... we need a good acronym for that union. Does anyone have one?

      Lefty Equality For Todo

(what? latin americans can be lefties, too!)

      EDIT:
ekim, that's not TOTO. Toto is totally different. this is TODO as in the spanish for "all"
    6. OutsideMyBrain
Lefties Awareness Group - oh, wait that's not good!
    7. ender
      LOL

      wait.

    9. Pentad
      @OutsideMyBrain....good one!
    10. OutsideMyBrain
      @Pentad: Thank you!
  16. abyks
Well, the everyday world can be a common annoyance for lefties.
  17. ekim941
It's a proven, scientific fact that all people begin life as lefties. They switch to using their right hand after they commit their first sin.

To this day, I remain left handed. Living proof that science is correct.
    1. ekim941
lol? You mean that is NOT a scientific fact?

Pffft, next you're gonna tell me there's no such thing as the tooth fairy. I still have the quarter, Dammit!!!
    2. OutsideMyBrain
No - I was saying Left Only Left here:

Regarding the Tooth Fairy that's debatable, because now the going rate is a dollar.
    3. abyks
an increased exposure to testosterone before birth can also be credited as a cause for left hand usage in life.
    4. Pentad
      @ekim. Don't knock sin, sweetie
    5. ender
pfft, ekim is the original sinner. just ask him about his fig leaf kilt!
    6. ekim941
Silly ender, you spelled "Big" wrong
    7. ender
      keep dreaming, diego.
    8. ekim941
I actually use both hands (no, ender, not for that).

So, maybe I have had some impure thoughts, I just haven't acted on them
  18. CentsAble
When I was learning to write as a kid I started at the right side of the paper and scribbled backwards to the left. Then I finally got it straight and since then I've always been annoyed at how I always seem to manage to smear what I just wrote with the back of my hand. :-/... oh I have always used my right (wrong?!) hand to cut with scissors.
    1. OutsideMyBrain
It's a good thing we are typing in this thread, or no one would be able to read it due to the smudges. I used to hate that.
  19. abyks
For years lefties were stigmatised as being "slow" or "inadequate".Many lefties have fought against this way of thinking for decades. We need to increasing public knowledge to made everyday items "new and improved".
  20. ender
    we need Leftquality.
    1. ekim941
      Right!
    2. legbamel
Did no one post about Lefty Rights on Bloggers Unite day? I'm shocked! I'm a righty thrower and kicker as well, but heaven forbid I try to eat soup with my right hand. Hubby and the eldest are righties but my little guy helps me keep the balance. He's been a lefty since he could pick up toys as a baby. I can use regular scissors, but I may have to get a pair of the left-handed ones for him. I am ashamed of my half-lefty-ness.
  21. Donlewis
Huh. There's a lot of lefties on BC. I wonder if bloggers break the average distribution?
  22. OutsideMyBrain
    Wrong Placement
  23. TimMc
I'm a leftie. I had a hard time learning to write correctly. I ended up with a great 4th grade teacher who took the time to teach me how to write properly. It was great!

I hated spiral notebooks. Still hate 'em. Also can't stand 3 ring binders...they are evil. Remember when those erasable ink pens came out back in the early 80's? Hated those things too! I always ended up with smudges all over my papers and my hand. Has anyone ever seen a computer mouse that is made for a left handed person? They are all molded the wrong way...

I'm very left hand dominant. But, I can switch hit and shoot the basketball competently right handed. I do shoot my firearms (pistols, rifles and shotguns) all right handed though...

I had 4 kids and none of them are lefties.
    1. OutsideMyBrain
Ahhhhhhhhggggggg... I still hate 3-ring binders and spiral notebooks too!

You can add shooting to my list (way up there) of right handed things I do, but I still write, comb, eat and shave left handed.
    2. ender
i used to see left handed spiral notebooks. wonder if they still make those. OH! i bet they do. i bet Hebrew notebooks are "lefty"
    3. legbamel
I have a lefty spiral notebook for meeting notes at work. They definitely still make them. Three-ring binders, however, I've never seen made for lefties. I suppose you could just use the round rings backwards, but the much-better D-rings don't work that way.
    4. OutsideMyBrain
I suppose you could just flip the spiral notebook over and start from the back, but I never thought of that when I was in school. But, a true spiral notebook, for lefties, would have the front on the back, so to speak. Don't know if I have ever seen one of those.
    5. OutsideMyBrain
      Bookmarked - Thank you ender!
  24. DarkAngelMe
You can never tell them 'You're right'
  25. calais50
I'm a lefty. I agree teachers do not know how to teach lefties to learn how to write. Even though I graduated from high school 1'st in my class, I failed kindergarten b/c of my handwriting. I have read that the life expectancy for a left-hander is a couple years less than for a righty. Also read their IQs tend to be a little higher.
    1. DarkAngelMe
True that, I can never read my b/f and my bosses handwritings. And i can read doctors' prescription slips.
  26. MarketTrader
    I can ambidextrous at times.
  27. mayjah
I always try to find the spirals that flip over the top but I still end up with ink all over the side of my hand. Trying to learn how to knit and crochet lefty was interesting. My husband is trying to persuade me to learn to golf right-handed because I am a beginner and he thinks it should be just the same but it feels totally different.
    1. OutsideMyBrain
IMHO - You should go with what feels natural. Golf is hard enough to learn without "overthinking" every swing, much less overcomming the akwardness of trying to learn right-handed.

**NOTE: Add to my list above swings golf club right-handed but still writes, eats, brushes teeth and combs hair left.:)
  28. kab625
I'm left handed. I get my antibodies and antigens mixed up.
    1. ekim941
But then you would have at least one less reader.
