The smell of coffee always makes me smile..
I measured the height of my youngest kid and he gained an inch.

aw - good for him!
I'm smiling at my 4 year old today as he is calling all the grown ups in the house by their first name instead of mummy, granda etc. -

Ok so I have to admit this probably shouldn't have made me smile but my 3 year old walking up to her older sister and saying "You are going to get an a$$ whooping" Now I have no idea where she got this explained to her we do not say that. However my first reaction was to walk away trying not to spit the coffee out of my mouth laughing

This is the second time I am posting this. Yesterday, I saw 5 Indian runner ducklings go into a deep pond for the very first time. I watched them playing in the water, learning how to swim and dive and I laughed as I watched them have fun. Previously they had only had shallow bowls of water to play in. This is what the breed looks like www.runnerduck.net/photo_album.htm
I have no idea why another member would have reported my comment about laughing at the antics of the 5 ducklings enjoyung their first day in a deep pool at my friends place.
I have no idea why Admin would choose to agree with the member who reported my comment above and delete it "removed by the community". There was absolutely nothing in it that broke the guidelines.
I feel like I am being harassed.

my two year old informed me that he was in fact 'growed up' and "dont need mommy to help put my stupid swimmies on". I thought that was hilarious for some reason

Someone opened up today and it made me smile - though it wasnt fueled by good news, it just made me glad that they can be open without the humour and allow encouragement!
Another thing is my BF made me brownies!

We went to get our windshield replaced this morning, and my boys wanted to go into the shop to watch them do it.
Seeing the bemused way the auto glass guy handled being peppered with questions from a 6 and 8 year old made me smile.
They asked *everything*.

On internet i was searching for a nice painting for my living room and i saw a very funny one. 14 newborn puppies and they seemed sooo cute and made me smile

The baby wild turkeys jumping off the rockery and trying to catch bugs in the air made me laugh, because they have not feathered out yet, and flapping their wings does not make them airborne.

Waking up to find my gerbil exercising. A health-conscious gerbil makes my heart smile. I love you Prometheus!!!

My morning walk. Watching the kids on skateboards going to school; looking at all the beautiful gardens.
-
-
When I woke up this morning, my kids had made me coffee. My son hands me the cup, looks at my head, and said "Mom, you're on your own with the hair. We can't help you there." I laughed like hell!
-
I would have lost it on that one too
I set the coffee pot up the night before and asked my daughter to turn it on for me when she woke me up one morning and I hear a button being pressed repeatedly. Thought for sure she was going to break the coffee maker-yikes! No worries though she just changed the time to be 20 minutes fast, explains why she couldn't get it to turn on

While I was drinking my only coffee of the day this morning I watched my husband pour grain into bowls for the deer. The wild turkey hen hid her 6 little chicks in the tall grass and then marched right up to a bowl a doe was eating from and began eating.
The deer snorted and shook her head warning the turkey to get lost. In a flash that was unbelievably quick the turkey hen pecked the doe on the nose so hard that the deer jumped into the air and ran away. When the doe came back she chose to eat from another bowl, rather than sharing with the turkey hen.
Another doe approached the bowl the turkey hen was eating from and the turkey made little sounds of welcome. That doe and the turkey hen shared the bowl while the first doe looked at them with narrowed eyes. It was a hilarious scene. -

A long walk with my wife. Lake Cayuga on one side and farmland on the other. Cows, birds, children playing in fields, wildflowers everywhere.

Being at a State Park, on the edge of the water gazing across at Canada and having a tour group of Japanese guests come down and pose by the lake with Canada in the background. They were so excited to be there and it was wonderful sitting there surrounded and hearing them exclaim as they looked across and as they were watching some children on our side flying kites and playing. We all laughed at the kids and waved as we each left.

At work, while deep-cleaning apartments owned by the university, we had a lively game of throwing knotted wet rags at one another
-
well... it started to some degree last summer... throwing various random object on occasion...
but then, this summer our department manager put on this 'summer cleanup train/team-building meeting' during which he made the mistake of showing us a training/team-building video called 'FISH Philosophy'
www.charthouse.com/content.aspx?nodeid=1066
and told us several times to "have fun" and "play"
now this projectile warfare has escalated significantly. Turning into a regular quagmire of pelting one another with items including but not limited to; rags, wads of wet toilet paper, socks found in rooms, petrified pizza found in rooms, pizza stuffed inside of socks, etc. -
we haven't gotten in much trouble yet. Though i accidently got someone in the face close range (he's kinda not such a good sport either, even though he starts this stuff sometimes) and he through a roll of two or three rolled up wet socks into my room with such force that it tore up a window-screen. I had to cover for him (lest the whole gig be up) and said that i slipped while removing the screen, and put my elbow through it (which was actually plausible).

replacing my turntable belt made me take out my vinyl records all the way from the 1930s recordings.

Honestly because of being a cancer survivor twice now I am so grateful for every day I live and I really try to smell the roses and relax during the day (even while working) and remember the privilege of just being here and not down there.
This was a great question.

Twin fawns who were chasing each other in a meadow, running down our driveway and leaping over the rockery like baby goats. Young wild turkeys who were being taught by their mom how to fly up onto the top of our 8 foot tall fence, and how to glide off it to the ground.
-
lol ...
A buck joined me for my morning coffee too. It's weaning season so there are fawns everywhere. Most are playing instead of finding food and bawling while looking for their moms when they get hungry. The does have left the area and the bucks have moved in. This is all happening 4- 5 weeks earlier than usual due to the exceptionally hot and dry weather we have experienced in late spring and summer. Interestingly enough, the fawning season was very early too and most were born in the very early rainy winter changing to spring time.
The buck slowly strode past the fun loving fawns, and rolled an eyeball at them. They came to a halt to view him ie. he who could be their father. Then he strode over to a nootka rose bush and ate some breakfast. Within moments they joined him, and he even pulled down some higher branches for them so they could eat with him.

My new dog is uncharacteristically quiet for his breed. The dog is small and probably weighs less than 8 lbs. Today he sneaked up on the flock of wild turkeys in our yard inside his fenced enclosure and barked once.
You should have seen the result! The birds panicked and suddenly there were turkeys flying through the air in all directions. Two actually collided in the air and fell to the ground. The birds landed in the trees, on the fence, on the roof and on the truck. There were feathers flying and squawking that could have raised the dead.
Meanwhile, the dog sat quietly on the bottom step and looked up over his shoulder at us on the top step as we cracked up laughing. He was very proud that the turkeys thought he was fearsome. -

My new dog made me smile today and laugh a lot too. He loves fetching squeaky toys. He can fetch and drop on command but today he added something new to his repertoire.
He drops the toy at my feet and then places his foot on it. When I reach for it he flicks it under his belly and lays on it while smiling up at me.
When I walk away he then picks it up again and drops it and leaves it properly. More training required after I stop laughing.

My friend from UK visited today. She just recovered from an invasive breast cancer and she looks terrific!

When listen to Pain a song by Lil Boosie. He paints a picture of how he feels after lossing his love ones, the reason it made me smile was because I understood how he feels and many rappers don't paint a picture like this.

I'm facing an 18 hour day today - as I was getting ready this morning, one of my best friends sent me a quick email telling me she loved me, she knew I was going to be busy today and that she'll check on me around 11:30 tonight to make sure I'm not drooling on my keyboard. LOL

I smiled this morning at the fact I come here, before I do almost anything else, to check how many people have visited my blog and to see what conversations have taken place here. I'm hooked!
I'm also smiling at the prospect of whipping up some linguine with clams and mussels for the post-football feast tonight. -
The 18th comment on this blogpost I read this morning.

My grandbaby - she gave me a big hug and kiss after I gave her some Smarties (am I allowed to say Smarties here or is that advertising?). Anyway, it is amazing the effect of chocolate has on a female, young or old - we thrive on it!
In our library there is an ENTIRE book "Why Women Need Chocolate". Must read. -
