There was another thread on that recently, but for the life of me I can't find it. Where's the sailor who started it? Are you out there?

To inspire others and promote my internet radio talk show, that by the way, inspires others!

I guess it falls under the category "to help and inspire others."

I wanted to share my thoughts with others, and a blog was the perfect medium.

What made me start my blog? Well.... a few months ago I wanted to get a new MacBook Pro, but I knew that my parents wouldn't pay thousands of $$ for a new computer just for me. So I googled "make money online". Guess what blog I found? Darren Rowse's Problogger. His blog inspired me to make my own and that's how I got here.

By the way if anyone wants to ChipIn (the widget is on my site's sidebar) to help me get my new MacBook, I'd appreciate the donations. If you ever decide to chipin let me know and I'll gladly return the favor by giving a free link back for 1 year (or more) on my Featured Sites sidebar. I'm not really asking for anything here, but I'm just letting you guys know. Thanks!

I figure this is a post I might do one day. The reason is long, let's see how I can shorten it -

I got the call many writers dream of - full scholarship and graduate stipend to a top twenty-five MFA program in fiction no less. They accept about 6 fiction students. Of course, I immediately had a break-down and was out of work for a few days throwing up. In the end, it was the right decision to not go at this point in my life, so I wanted to make sure I wrote every day - and the truth. Switching to non-fiction I figured a blog might force me to do that.

Also, I process my emotions a LOT better in writing. During that week of vomit I cleared over 30,000 words. Plus two non-fiction stories.

So it's clearly personal, to keep me going, transfer me to non-fiction, and to aid in me processing a life that while many say is 'rich and interesting' I say is overwelming and confusing.

"The Devil" made me do it of course.

Seven-plus years ago, when I put a website out in the digital abyss, I did so because I had something to say. And, no one else was expressing the idea.

Things haven't changed that much. I'm still blogging because I have something to say. Also, because I love to write.

And, the prospect of making money while doing this doesn't exactly discourage me.

I want to promote my memoir, which I am writing about my experiences as a heroin addict, punk musician, former actor and my nearly 15 year journey of recovery. I hope to also raise awareness for the need for free and available treatment for addicts and to help launch my foundation that will give free treatment to addicts needing it (particularly women in the sex industry). After treatment, they will be given scholarships to college (if they want to go) or job skill training in another area where they can make a decent living.

I wanted to share my passion for fitness and unconventional workouts. I also wanted to show people fun, different workout routines that they may not have seen yet.

Hmm.. Thats a good question I guess I just wanted to be heard(or read)by people who might find my site of interest to them.

An online diary and I really enjoy it a lot, it gives me an outlet to let off some steam.

I started my current blog because my old blog "I'm Surrounded By Idiots" was a little too obnoxious.

My fingers keep shaking when inactive, so I can only help it by typing. So blogging help me to monetize while helping my disease lol...

I had pages on Y360 and Multiply.com...and had become bored with the day-t0-day frenzy which dwells in drama and scrutiny. I am JUST now opening this blogspot page to the public because I want to take my blogging into a different direction. I 1st blogged on Myspace...not really knowing what it was. I've learned a lot since then and just want this new page to be a maturer start to better things.
  20. KweenKiwi
Oh yea...and to make money! LOL

I wanted to try selling books in my sidebar as links using the Powell's affiliate program. It did not work that well, but I still continued blogging because I liked it.

I started my blog after my SIL started hers. I figured if she had time to blog with her hectic life, I could do it too. Since I tend to be wordy and repetitive in conversation, I opted for a limited post format as an exercise in brevity.

I wanted to reduce the stigma of mental illness by sharing my experience of coping with having bipolar disorder.

It also is a personal diary of my own experience.

I had alot of people asking me about my candles, so I started the candle blog, and then felt restricted in just writing about candles, so I started the candles crafts and whatnot blog so I could write about everything! I love to laugh and have found some really funny sites out there.
I hope to be that good one day.

By mistake, lol! I started my blog because I set out to do a website, and I didn't think the web sign-up worked, so I went to blogger and got a blog, and then the next day I had an email from the website host telling me I had a website .. so I've got both. And it turns out I need both, I think.

I was just really, really bored.

    Aspiring for World Domination.

But I made too many wonderful friends in the process. So I trashed the idea.

I read Joseph Mallozzi's blog, thought it was funny, and decided to follow his his grand footsteps

I've always been writing since I learned how to, and blogging is a very natural thing to do. I used to write on a normal website, but blogging offers a lot more tools to promote it, so that's why I'm blogging instead of writing on another platform.

I moved overseas and a couple of friends asked me to start a blog to keep them informed on my life over here.

I'm still here, most of them aren't reading anymore, but the blog has taken on a life of its own.

I started this blog because all the cool kids were doing it! Peer Pressure is at all ages folks. I am in a reading group that has challenges and stuff. They wanted us all to post our reviews on the one blog. You had to sign up for Blogger to post so I made my own anyways and decided I could spout my extras with my reviews. I have only done it a full week now as of today. YAY me!!

To show off my sexy body. NOT :-)
  40. fated82
For me? To exist and inspire. I dont have to inspire others through the posts in my blog(s) but I inspire by what I have done. (creating and operating a blog network)

My intention is to make money and build value so that I can sell them in time to come.
  41. kaguvkov
I made it first because I don't have any hobby. I didn't think of anything before than making this as my pastime.
