I find this whole world of blogging very new and it is amazing as to what goes on in cyber space. As much as it can be addcitive, it is also very diverse with so many styles. It is mind boggling but am curious to know what makes a professional blogger ? and why is he successful? Jojo

    a professional blogger in their basic form is someone who makes money through their blog (donations, ad revenue, ect ect) To get to that point, they generally need to be successful; usually through discussion of relevant and popular topics, and lots of shameless self promotion.

    I think minikin1's description above is a good one. Making money online involves hard work. And very few bloggers have the degree of expertise required to produce the quality of content that brings in the massive number of hits on advertisements that are required by professional bloggers to make a living from blogging. Also, the economic realities we now face mean that making an income from blogging is becoming increasingly more difficult.

    Professional bloggers have expertise in a specific niche and know how to:
    * be a skillful blogger;
    * create an archive full of quality content;
    * structure a search engine optimized blog;
    * promote their blogs via social networks and other means;
    * establish and maintain a faithful and growing readership (organic traffic);
    * select the combination of advertising and affiliate plans are effective for making an income from blogging.

    Professional means living with it. There are two kinds: the gurus which can write themselves and those who pay ghostwriters to write for them

    Thanks guys for your fabulous comments. There were some very useful stuff here not just for me but everybody. Thanks for sharing. I write all my own blogs but as am quite busy with my entertainment line of Tv hosting , it sometimes does not allow me to blog everyday. Is it ok if it was once every couple of days or should there be content everyday? How does organic traffic happen ?
    Thanks Jojo Struys

      Organic traffic is mostly based around people who happen upon your blog through other means. Search engines, word of mouth.

    It takes hard work like any other business. You have to do it 24/7. Most give up sooner or later.

    Simply put: money. If you make money at it, then ur a professional.

    A professional blogger is supposed to know the ins and outs of the business.. someone who will consistantly add useful content to the blog regardless of outside influences. You don't have to make money to be a professional, the money comes with being successful. You can also be a professional and suck.

    Professional blogger as Minikin stated is one who earns money from their blog. I would go one step further and state someone who recieves a significant portion of thier income as a result of their blog.
