SO........... I am wondering with all the high gas prices, food on the rise, death in other countries, what makes you happy. What makes you wake up each day and take on the challenge called life?

the normal things like family and friends...but also a day relaxing at the beach.

Beach was great - rain was even great since we really needed it!

I'm really relaxed and comfortable in my own skin. I'm also in good company with more than enough to eat and, a roof to eat it under, over my head -- what's not to be happy about?

warm weekend mornings drinking beer in your boxer-shorts and eating cold leftover pizza, birds chirping in the guttering, flowers blooming.

or, alternatively, a rainy day as celebrated in Madness' "The Sun & the Rain":

I hear the rain falling in my ears
Washing away the weariness like tears.
I can feel my troubles running down,
    Disappear into the silent sound.

I feel the rain falling on my face
I can say there is no better place
Than standing up in the falling down
In so much rain I could almost drown.

Watching children at play, a cool breeze on a hot WTX day, and laughing at myself when I do something really dumb.

I must be laughing at me all the time then

Work. So maybe that's against the grain a bit but what could be better than building peoples dreams. I love to see the reaction I get when I have completed a remodeling job or turned a construction site into a home.

Family - seeing my son mature from baby to boy before my eyes. Goddang I'm proud of that little guy. Now we've got another on the way. Just really makes you appreciate life, and the innocence of youth.

The Outdooors - working 7-5 everyday in a "cubicle of death" - where I'm literrally in the basement now with nary a window - just the flicker of flourescent lights - has me appreciating the outdoors like never before. It's been a gorgeous Spring so far here, apart from a bit of heavy rain (but we NEEDED that rain after last year).

MacMurray Pinot Noir- it's not that expensive and dayum is it good!

Seeing Big Brown explode in the Preakness. The overhead shot of him pulling away in the stretch was one of the most impressive I've ever seen, even if that wasn't great competition he was pulling away from.

BBQ - typical man, I suppose. I'll stand outside over a basic Weber charcoal grill cooking any meat we have in the house. Nothing says Spring/Summer afternoon than the smell of folks cooking out in the neighborhod.

I am most happy when I am contented and not thinking about me.
I love this feeling the most and I sometimes catch myself in it.
I realize that I am in the moment, all is well and I am at peace.
I also see a halo type glow at the top of my head during this time.
    Saint Jeunelle???? maybe... lmao

Nothing makes me happier than being at home, out here in the woods in the middle of nowhere. It's very peaceful & we get all kinds of animals & birds. The only thing that makes me happier is when my husband's home to enjoy it, too (as a University professor, he's currently off for the summer, so it doesn't get any better than this.)
