Hi, I was looking for a good stats system this morning, I have a lot of choices. I'm using the self-hosted script by wordpress. Do you have any plugin to suggest?

I'm looking for a good one that I can track everything about my visitors. Where they come from, what they read, how long...etc

WebSTAT, for years. Pretty good service, not insanely expensive.
Very recently, Google Analytics. GA still hasn't reported traffic at one of my blogs, and I haven't figured out why.

Since I began using Google Analytics (on all my blogs, plus my static website) I have almost stopped looking at anything else. The more I 'drill down' into GA, the more useful info I'm getting from it.

The only other thing I use these days are the stats that come with AddThis.com, which show number of feed subscriptions and which pages have been submitted to which social bookmarking sites.

Oh yeah, and the dailies on MyBlogLog are kinda interesting.

    Statcounter, google analytics and mybloglog.

Big fan of statcounter because it is real time.
  4. selosmini
I use Statscounter- and I love it. I don't even have anything else on my blog. It's so user friendly, and has a lot of detail.
    Good luck! -Marie

Statcounter, Sitemeter, for some basic stuff on a daily basis.

For once a week analysis, AWstats. Love it.

i third - or rather fourth Statcounter. If you don't mind paying a little Mint I've found is the best in my opinion.

I highly recommend statcounter. And free a/c in mybloglog show you where the ad clicks come from. Together, they work out very well for me in understanding my audience and traffic source.

I will blog more how I use it, this is only a small post for introduction

And I celebrate with statcounter team when they get the award from BusinessWeek

Thanks guys, after testing google analytics ( which seem not working that well ). Im using now Statcounter that I like very much! I cant expect more, plus it's free

I Use Clicky!!! Its great, check their site to get a comparison of all the Top Site Stats service available on the internet with Clicky! Please find the link to the clicky site (scroll down and its on the sidebar) from by viewing my webpage:

I try their demo, I like the design, but what about the performance? I tried the statcounter, well some of the option is not available, like to know the outgoing for example. I will definitely try this one!

"We are not currently accepting web sites that receive more than 10,000 page views per day. We are adding more hardware, please check back with us soon if this restriction applies to you."

      That's a problem! I will wait then

    StatCounter, it just works
  24. alanzPL
I'm using google analytics, but everyone is saying that statcounter is real good so I might give it a try, as well.
  25. komirad
This is the best I have seen: getclicky.com/11541
Easy, free and clean, just check out the demo!
  26. tenanimalsdrool
    sitemeter and neoworx free version
  27. terrymundo
Ah. Google Analytics - awstats and Webalizer which are installed on my server. I'm completely fine with those. I don't want to add anymore scripts to my site.
  28. PetPortraitArtist
I have awstats and webalizer on my server as well. I have just signed up for google analytics, but have a question someone might be able to anser - do I need to install the code on every page on my site that I want tracked, or just the main page? My blog is on my domain (www.pencilportraits.com.au/blog), and I want to track my blog stats as well as the rest of the pages on the domain.
  29. shaydelgado
am using sitemeter & google analytics but I frequent sitemeter all the time...
  30. ghostytwofish
Aye, SiteMeter and Google Analytics. I hit SM whenever I feel like it, and the Google once a month.
  31. JayNeely
I love Feedburner's Site Stats. Updated hourly, almost all the info I need, and I can see my subcriber numbers at the same time.
  32. lupideloop
I'm trying out this SiteMeter (www.sitemeter.com) for my blog... but I have Google Analytics on a Discussion Board I take care of and it seems to work great there!
  33. akishore
I use Google Analytics and 103 bees! I like the latter because it gives you lists of questions that people typed in to get to your site!
  34. Sefiant
GetClicky has all of the features everyone on this discussion is referring. Just have a look at their comparison table!

    getclicky.com/11303

My application i use to track my stat is awstats.

I use sitemeter, and histats.com, but yesterday I signed up for
pmetrics.performancing.com/ and they seem to be better than all of them... such detail, I am on the free trial right now, then it might 20 bux for one year for 3 sites of data up to... I think its 5000 hits a day.. I think...

I also have google analytics but I am finding that boring to look at.

I like histats the most, because it opens a new window in a tab when you click on what the user was searching..

    I like sitemeter too.

looks like I will upgrade to premium on Performancing Metrics Blog Statistics.. if you wana give me a boost, click on their logo on my side bar it says metrics live stats for your blog

    nada
    1. Sefiant
That sounds almost identical to what Clicky offers...
    1. ladynada
uh oh! does getclicky charge for premium service?
      thanks,
      nada
    2. Sefiant
you mean the pro service? yes they do $49.99 per year or $5.99 per month.

just recently found that both are from the same publisher: sean

      (or something like that)
  38. Sefiant
LOL, I should have read the previous posts... my bad

Feedburner's stats. You can see number of readers, but even their OS and what browser they use.
    1. Sefiant
exactly like Clicky ( getclicky.com/11303 ) get the comparison here: getclicky.com/#theotherguys
  41. EndohT
I see the four different options of Statcounter Code... any one of them will be able to track? Even if it's only the button?

And for the other code, which file should I insert the codes? stylesheet?
    1. jungl
The button only will not work for tracking.
I put the code in my footer.
    2. EndohT
I finally managed to fix just the button in the footer a couple hours ago like you suggested. I just checked my stats... it's working too.
  42. n8
    n8
I use Awstats and Google Analytics. Seems to be a pretty good combo.
  43. BeckyS
I'm the same as n8. AwStats sometimes reports higher numbers than that of Google Analytics.
  44. Nesmuth
    Google Analytics
  45. nanciesweb
Statcounter, for the most part. Blogexplosion has their statistics meter, but it's only handy for those who visit from blogexplosion.

I do like Statcounter, I can see where people are coming from.
  46. Parabunny
Statcounter. I used to have sitemeter, but switched because sitemeter is apparently into spying. (References: michaelsync.net/2007/04/11/things-you-should-know-before-using-sitemeter/)
  47. cdwrites
I use VisiStat.com; love their reports, especially the custom referral links, live page report and statcaster, so I can watch the traffic to my blogs on my desktop. Pretty cool!
  48. macewan

  49. windyridge
    Eweb counter and Google Analaytics
  50. brigid
    Google Analytics and StatCounter.

Some really useful stuff at both, but does anyone have any idea what "bounce back" means at GA?
    1. Genek
Hi brigid. I checked GA support and this is an excerpt from there. I think this is the answer you are looking for.
      ****************
Bounce Rate: Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits (i.e. visits in which the person left your site from the entrance page). Bounce rate is a measure of visit quality and a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance (landing) pages aren't relevant to your visitors. You can minimize Bounce Rates by tailoring landing pages to each keyword and ad that you run. Landing pages should provide the information and services that were promised in the ad copy.
    2. brigid
      Ohhh.

Of course, a blog is usually just one page, so the entrance is usually also the exit page.
  51. Genek
Great stuff here. I've been trying to figure out which stat service to use. I signed up for GA and bookmarked SC. GA looks good so far.
  52. butterflymedia
I use Trafic.ro and Google Analytics for my blog.
  53. voodooKobra
    Google Analytics.
  54. lalatenews
    Hi Kiwi -

You really need to use several. Wordpress is not that accurate for totals. It's good to show you how the day is going but for totals, its a waste. Stats counter, whatever your hosting company provides (webequalizer), your add companies impression reports, Alexa site ranking (we did a 33,000 over the weekend, and doing a 50,000 this week).

We watch about 1/2 dozen services per day.
  55. iriegal
I use Statcounter- I love it

    and Google as well.
    1. brigid
Me too! They're both pretty great and give good detail. ^_^
  56. bittertruth
google analytics(no offence, google team) is bit complex and overwhelming. I've been using statcounter, it's user friendly and it serves all our needs.

Kiwi, you can make your counter hidden too. if you didn't know that.. just in case, you know?
  57. bloggingmix
    I'm using fire stat.
  58. Daldianus
Sitemeter until now but I'm checking out Google Analytics
  59. dzrbenson
    Awstats, Webalizer and WassUP
  60. windyridge
I use ewebcounter and Google Analytics. eWebcounter's quick and Google is a lot more involved.
  61. creative666
reinvigorate.net it's in Beta at the moment and you have to wait to be activated as user, but it's the best I have ever used!
  62. choiocampo
I am using Stats Counter Before but I think it is not accurate and it also includes my IP on the Stats so I switch into Google Analytics..
  63. shawnlim
    I personally use StatCounter.
It is a very reliable tool and have a lot of professional features.
You should really check it out.

    1.Google Analytics;
    2. Sitemeter,
    3. Feedburner stats,
    4. Mybloglog

Using all the four stats can be really useful.
I am using all the four.
  65. AngelaConnor
Great advice! I am now a Statcounter user, thanks to this thread. Great detail. I've used Google Analytics up until now so I will compare the two this entire week.
  66. Xight
    Statcounter is fast and nice.
Analytics is fairly detailed, and doesn't have a limit on how many visitors you have.
And Feedburner I use basically to keep track of subscribers, and outgoing clicks.
