I notice that either you have to be annoying, or totally been here longer to get responses on your posts.

I resent your attitude, who do you think you are to ask this question?

This is the tone of a good post, like on TV
  2. MissSuzie
I guess you should just start being really annoying.
  3. dbowles1017
I've only been here for about a month. Just post in other peoples threads.

wrong wrong wrong. Being annoying isn't going to help

I think you are refering to a 'rant' post.. which is hard to pull off without sounding like a jerk. Posts that cleverly dispute a position taking by someone authoritive will generally get a good reaction.

'pillar' posts are posts that have information you would constantly be linking back to in your blog. For instance, if you have an SEO blog.. you maybe have a pillar post that defines what 'nofollow' links are.. since that will come up many times in your blogging. Pillar posts are usually researched and linked to in future blog articles.

I think TT wrote a post on this.. not sure

I did but I don't think he is referring to blog posts. I believe this thread is referring to forum threads.
    2. MissSuzie
I think he's talking about BC threads, not blog posts.

Haha. TT beat me to it.

      Lol, beat me to it.

      I was primed and ready

Length of time and annoying have little to do with it.

It seems that some of the most oblique discussions become huge.

Some of the most pertinent are left for the wolves.

      Well said
  7. wagerwitch
    Interesting topics.

Yep it's an observation people . Statistics show.
  9. codesucker
ohh. my bad. I thought you mean blog posts

The biggest winners seem to be the forum posts with no substance. That sounds bad but if you think about it - everyone can participate if your post is about nothing. If it's something in your niche, your audience will natuarlly be smaller

Surprise! I wrote a post on that for the BC New Users Group
Forum Discussions - Front Page Focus
      www.blogcatalog.com/group/new-blog-catalog-users/discuss/entry/forum-discus...

Aside: FWIW All the threads about super heroes, soul mates, etc. come from other forums. One can cruise through livejournal, Facebook, etc. and see what's posted in other forums and how well the topics go over or not.

    You can't deny the statistics:

    1. dcarroll
Well that is the demand, where is the supply curve?
    2. Friday13
Hey, don't ask me about stuff. I just make graphs.
    3. timethief
      @Friday
      lol ...
    4. dbowles1017
      Nice graph.
    5. MissSuzie
I heart you, Friday! Very clever.
  11. celticmusicfan
OMG! That graph says it all @@

So are we annoying on this thread? JK

I'm going to totally avoid the first response and say that most people are looking for is often (though not always.) sensationalism of any kind. Real writing, good writing holds little interest for most who are online these days.
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
To some extent, sadly, I'd agree with you. But there really IS an audience for those folks who care about the well-crafted sentence...

It just requires more time and patience to start seeing results, I believe.
    2. christibroer
      I sure hope you're right!
