I'm starting to really appreciate this discussion format for getting tips and recommendations. I just earned $25 on my first PayPerPost blog post. I am earning from people they have a bad rep though. Do any of you in the DoFollow community write blogs for hire ever? If so, which companies have you had a good experience with. Thanks a lot.

When Google punished bloggers for "sponsored posts" by removing PageRank, I stopped blogging for any money. Got my PageRank back from Google and haven't touched paid anything since. Not where I want to go with my blog...
Having said that, I am quite active on the PPP forum and they pay quite well for most opps. Especially if you still have your PageRank and fairly decent Alexa rank.
Additionally, for sometime I used PayU2Blog. They pay faster than PPP, have assignments that generally have nothing to do with your blog and will give you either too much to do or not enough. The bright side, the pay.
If you're looking for more companies try Smorty, ReviewMe, and SponsoredReviews.

I blogged for payperpost for almost a year. I stopped before the google smackdown on page rank. My reasons for quitting are numerous, and they hate it when they are talked about badly by ex-posties. They prefer the bad stuff "stay in house".
I do blog for payu2blog and love it. As Katy said, sometimes you get a ton of assignments, and sometimes very little. They are contextual links, meaning you do not have to post about the site you are linking to, just link to it.
I have worked for Smorty, Bloggingads, Blogvertise, Loudlaunch, and Sponsored Reviews.
Out of all of them, I love payu2blog the most. They pay every other week, they never pay late unless there is an issue with paypal, but they are always in contact with their their bloggers through their message forum, they are starting to take on more of a consumer product review company.
They have been doing more and more real in hand product reviews that the bloggers get to keep.
I've personally gotten to review and keep; a 16x24 canvas portrait, a sterling silver locket, a baby sling, sports/award dog tags, clothing, shoes, wine, self defense products like pepper spray and tazers, and I was 1 of 3 bloggers to "win" a Nordictrack elliptical machine valued at $1,000.
It came today, I will be putting it together tomorrow morning, and will get to keep it even after I write my review of it after using it for 2 months.
They are also giving 10 bloggers memory foam mattresses and the platforms they go on, from bedinabox.com. The 10 lucky bloggers will be announced on January 14th.
They have announced that the future of this company is still going to be contextual links, but they will be doing many, many more real product in hand, reviews for the bloggers to get and keep just for providing our honest opinions of those products.
So unlike all the other companies who are paying bloggers to write posts about sites, products and services they may or may have not actually used, Payu2blog will be doing real product reviews.
I love payu2blog!
If you choose to sign up, tell them ms. kat sent you. If you want more information on them, just contact me and I'll be more than happy to answer any and all questions.

All money making sites under my knowledge

I found a good series of reviews on 10 different services by someone:
getpaidtowriteonline.com/payu2blog-review/
If you scroll to the bottom of this post, you'll see all 10 listed -
yup you can be punished eventually .. So if you have PR4, stay away from Paid Reviews.. The less PR you have the less offer you will get from paid reviews..

Thanks for your comments estertey. It sounds like you know what I am talking about.
It's cool writing for them. I think Ted Murphy is going to do away with the Google PR being a criteria, though I have no proof of that yet. Izea Ranks will be more of a factor.
Anyway, I have a good day job, so I'm not one of those who is really hurt by Google's shenanigans.
It's a funny animal: Have good PR, get good opps. Publish opps, lose PR. Something has to change, it makes no sense. I know recently IZEA changed it's tos to allow very new blogs to apply. This could signal their desire to have low paying opps more geared at "filler" type blogs. If that plays out I'll be opting out more.
Still, there are lots of ways to make money with your blog. Izea is just one of many. The more creative you are, the more options you have. -
Psst... Google's Pagerank is becoming worthless and a lot of people know it. If you get tons of traffic then it shouldn't matter what Google says. Matter of fact, I hate to just toss my link in here but I wrote about how people CAN make making WITHOUT a pagerank at www.datmoney.com/2008/01/yes-people-can-make-money-online.html
But there are tons you can use like payperpost, sponsoredreviews, reviewme are the big ones. There are a lot of smaller ones but they don't pay too much. Let me know if you want me to list those too though... -
You can also pitch your blogging services to traditional mags--several writers I know have blogged for Woman's Day for some really nice pay; I blog for a freelance client, Beneath the Brand on their site.
I haven't done blog for pay on Covering Florida, but I am hoping to sell direct advertising. I've had several requests, but each wanted to pay me through PayPal and I only take checks.
Edited in: don't give your work away and try not to sell all rights. It depends on what you're writing, but as a long-time freelancer, it's my opinion a lot of sites/publications are really taking advantage of bloggers--just my opinion, though.
best, Kay -
I knew I should have did a post on this so I don't have to list them all. Matter of fact, I will write a post listing ALL pay per post services that I know and let you know when it's up.
Unless of course you just subscribe to my RSS Feeds so you don't miss a thing! Okay, that was a little shameless lol... -
I read at the IZEA posties blog they are starting "Postie University" with a weekly tip. This was my comment over there:
posties.izea.com/blog/2008/02/you-want-to-use.html
Most of us reduced to PR0 don't need weekly tips on how to blog better for PayPerPost, we did it very well at 100% tack. A weekly tip on how to get opps now that writing for PPP reducced our PR would be a better series. I'm eager for new opps but every day there is nothing anymore.
I wonder if my comment will conveniently disappear or if someone will actually answer me. -

Ohhhh I was looking for this thread! lol... well, I finally made my first series of various paid review site at www.datmoney.com/2008/03/requirements-pros-and-cons-for-paid.html
But congratulations on your PR2... but don't rely on that number because Pagerank is becoming more worthless as time goes on. If you get tons of traffic, at the end, that's all that matters.

@VoodooKobra: Let me educate you ... Here's how the process works with PayPerPost:
1. You apply and go through an acceptance process that can take weeks.
2. You have a selection of paid topics ranging from $2 to $65 on average. Most are about 10-20 bucks. You accept the topics that interest you and you WRITE CONTENT. Ten you include a link if that is what they ask of you (not always required) and publish on your blog.
What about that is underhanded? You are as wrong as Google except theya re profiting and you are not. Here are a few of mine as examples:
rileycentral.net/wordpress/2007/12/28/to-borrow-or-not-to-borrow/
rileycentral.net/wordpress/2008/03/05/dude-whered-you-get-your-glasses/
rileycentral.net/wordpress/2008/01/04/leave-coupon-shopping-to-someone-else...
You're an online diarist, there's nothing wrong with that. I only write like that sometimes. It would be boring for me and my readers if that was all I did. But that's just me.
What's your take now that you have some facts and real examples?

I just read your post Kobra and I must say I think you are painting sponsored posts with a very broad brush. I am with you on the annoying posts always talking about making money through blogging. But there is some middle ground. This whole angry movement against people profiting off writing is completely ridiculous and i have seen it around. Your post is more extreme but hopefully my examples and posts here will change your mind. Try a sponsored post, it's a lot of fun and you can do it to where it adds quality to the blogosphere. But if not, can we just agree to disagree here? peace my man.
