The room, hotel service, bars, restaurants and shopping malls were absolutely fantastic.

I forgot to mention the staff. A truly fantastic place.

The Mirage in Vegas was really nice. I also really enjoyed the W in Chicago.

The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA.

By the way, you should never end a sentence with a preposition. Your question "What was the best hotel you ever stayed in?" should look like this: "What was the best hotel you ever stayed in, dude?"

I haven't stayed here but i intend paying the 35 dollars approx and making a visit next year and having a swim and look around. Amazing place.

    Dubai here I come.

Ventana Inn in Big Sur was probably the most expensive. Private suites and an amazing view...

Four Seasons was pretty nice also - stayed in those in a few different cities.

In San Francisco - Parc Fifty Five and The Sir Francis Drake were pretty nice too.

As far as the best hotel for the LEAST amount of money, probably the Sahara in Vegas - under $50 a night for a great room.

The Venetian in Las Vegas. I wanted to move in.

And then the hotel in Ottawa ... I can't remember its name but it's across from Parliament, right on the water and looks almost like a castle. We stayed there twice, once before its renovation and once after. I definitely preferred the before experience - the room had much more character.

The Venetian did look fantastic and I would stay there if I had the chance. My wife and I were having a meal there when I saw a couple getting married in the hotel, on a white gondola as it was poled down canal. Cheesy as hell but it worked. We all clapped and cheered them as they kissed.

Oh I don't know if this counts as a hotel, but Charo's private Bali Hai Villa in Kauaii, Hawaii - rented that for two weeks. That was pretty nice too, 3 acres right on the beach

Probably this little French Hotel which is a converted Watermill. The Auberge du Moulin de Mombreux at Lumbres in the Pas-de-Calais www.moulindemombreux.com/index.php The retaurant is one star Michelin rated. Polybore had an incredible 8 course meal there.

A close second is a local favourite. Although very close to where Polybore lives we stay there sometimes for a treat. Very traditional Scottish quality The Kildrummy Castle Hotel www.kildrummycastlehotel.co.uk/?action=room_details&room_id=8

Polybore likes small (max 20 bed) quality hotels.

Probably the Mandarin in Singapore or the Ritz in Paris.

I really like staying at the Borgata. Think they are the nicest rooms in Atlantic City. However if I am bringing the kids down I choose Resorts as (even though they are a casino) they are family friendly.

Oops as for the when, I typically stay down there at least a few times a year.

Mandalay Penthouse I hope one day to stay in one of the underwater hotels, i think that would be interesting... great pics of the Helix! I like your blog too, the "green" and "outdoor" sections are great. Looking around other archives now

The hotel in Dalat Vietnam. It's not big but it's very comfortable and quiet. What I like the most is the farm with lots of vegetables and rice behind it so it's great to stay at the veranda watching the greens and smell the fresh air.

Hotel Del Coronado -- And I don't know why...

Except I had a Ghost there - I swear it was Marilyn Monroe.... LOLOLOL!

    And I'm only half joking.

We had something pull our blankets off at night - and turn the shower on when we were both in the bathroom --- But it was a beautiful place - and since I grew up on Coronado - it was nostalgic for me.

In Spain, Barcelona some years ago.

It was old building near downtown - pretty facade from outside. I got small and neat room with really old furniture. I felt like being in museum. Bed was too short for me, so I was sleeping with legs hanging in the air. I though that people in this country are rather short and its true actually if you look around on the streets.

It was really nice stay and I felt that it was more like a homestay. I really like interesting places.

I should maybe blog about Europe as well.
