The last concert I went to was Lenny Kravitz last Sunday on my birthday, It was wild! What an entertainer, he actually got off the stage and walked around the parimeter of the metro center and greeted people! He interacted the whole time with the crowd and even crooned to one lucky lady in the front row. He played the piano, the bongos and the drums! Lovely entertainer!

I saw Eric Clapton. It was moving.

I saw him years ago...what a genuis! His book is incredible too, his autobiography...very raw and honest!

I saw The Ting Tings and Fight Like Apes play a couple of weeks ago. I thought the support act, Fight Like Apes were immense, so heavy and almost trippy, I have become quite attached to that band ever since the gig. As for the Ting Tings, they were every bit as brilliant as you would expect them to be, full of energy and catchy pop anthems.

Thanks, I've been rather down...depressed actually & haven't been able to do the things I used to enjoy! Feeling much better now!

Kid Rock, and it was well f&cking awesome, the concert before I took My goddaughter to The Jonas brothers, it was a nightmare !
Concert before that Bob Segar, before that Griffin House, before that Billy Joel
    1. MadameX
Hey, my last TWO concerts have been Jonas Brothers! I don't actually think they're that bad, though. Certainly not a show I'd go to by myself, but when I consider that it could be Miley Cyrus I become almost a Jonas Brothers fan.
    2. kat822
the concert itself was good, it was the 2 and a half hour delay that was a nightmare, they got stuck at the canadian border ughhhhhhhhh, just glad they had beer there

I went to a Grateful Dead concert at Red Rocks outside of Denver..Must have been 15 years ago..maybe more.

    It sucked.

    Last concert

      Sucked?

      Define "sucked".
  8. ekim941
    The grateful dead.

I haven't been to a concert in a while but it was great. It's like hitting a time warp back to the 60's.

bfd...which was a whole bunch of different bands...i got hit in the eye by the Pick from the lead guitarist for flogging molly

    @MadameX

sucked=the concert was suppose to start at 7pm..started at 8:30pm
    First set was 45 minutes
    Second set one hour

The music was not very good. They just walked off stage. Didn't say a word.

It sucked. And I was a big fan!!
    1. drjay1966
They got pretty bad in their later years. Last time I saw them was a month or two before Garcia died...I could've gone to see a Dead cover band in a bar, paid a lot less, and heard better music.

Nonetheless, when they were good, there was nothing like 'em.
    2. MadameX
The last time I saw them was in 1991, with Bruce Hornsby. It didn't suck.
  11. drjay1966
I'm seeing Billy Bragg in about an hour.

As for the last one...can't remember it...so it must've been good.

Oh, actually, I do, it was Liz Phair, playing her Exile in Guyville album from start to finish--very cool.
    1. lordiwanttobewhole
Tell us how Billy Bragg was please!
    2. drjay1966
He was great. Some people stormed out offended by his political ranting but, considering that's what he's known for, I'm not sure what they were expecting....
  12. lordiwanttobewhole
Lenny Kravitz had a little political speech at his concert...I understand that though, its his concert and he has the attention of 8000 plus people, why not? and i agreed with him too!

Rush - was an awesome show. They always sound so clean live.

Last Saturday night... a guy I know... the band was great and he was hot.
    1. freeatlast
before that... Flight of the Conchords LIVE... if that can be considered a concert... hilarious.

About 9 years ago my wife and I saw Jonny Lang. It was after his first album and we enjoyed it immensely. My hearing hasn't been the same since though. Still like him too.

I saw Rush, I think it was last September. They put on an excellemt show, as always. This was my second time seeing them, and I have been a longtime fan, going back to 1974 with the first LP. The show was about 3 hours long, and they played most of the classic songs, as well as much of Snakes and Arrows, their newest CD.
  17. lordiwanttobewhole
Rush = Excellent musicians...i would imagine that was a fantastic show!
  18. lordiwanttobewhole
I also saw Alice Cooper last weekend for the first time....very theatrical!

    Pretenders...great
    Leon Russell...great
    Allman Brothers...great (30 years ago)
The Band....really great (30 years ago)
    Boz Scaggs....great
Elton John...in Las Vegas....he needs to retire
    Aretha Franklin...great
    Tommy James....good
    Grateful Dead....sometimes great...sometimes really bad
    Santana....great
    1. lordiwanttobewhole

I'm reviving an old thread because last night i saw Serena Ryder and was blown away!!! What a little stick of dynomite! She really has talent...what a lovely voice! she interacted so much with the audience and told stories as she sang!

    I am such a fan!

The last one was The Bachelorettes (www.thebachelorettes.com/), a bunch a young women from Jackson Mississippi who are touring the country this summer with the 17-year old daughter of friends (her older sister now lives in Jackson and is also in the band). Various solo and duo versions of the same people preceded the 'ettes. I had a blast!

Prior to that, the last two concerts featured all of the following: Daniele Bazzani, brilliant Italian fingerstyle guitarist (www.danielebazzani.com/), the Hanser-McClellan duo (outstanding classical guitar players and recording artists, see kirkhanser.com) and several youth classical guitar ensembles, including my 16 year old in the advanced ensemble. These were terrific and took place in New Haven Missouri as part of the MidAmerica Guitar Camp (MAGC).

Before that, I saw The Northwoods, a duo including the son of friends. They were very good- acoustic guitar, percussion (Djembe and more) and great harmonies.

I took my son to AC/DC for his 16th birthday (and first rock concert). He liked it. I didn't like it much, but I didn't dislike it, I was just sort of neutral about the whole thing. I was never a fan.

I saw many concerts in between AC/DC and the guitar groups I mentioned, including a number of classical concerts and master classes (my son in many concerts, the Brasil Guitar Duo, and more). Also saw guitar player Ben Lacy in Lexington, KY- he is outstanding! Can't think of the rest right now.
