I'll start, I just got my copy of Planet Earth,
It is amazing, I give it a 10. 5 Years in the making and so educational. A must have for your DVD collection.

    Mr. Beans Holiday....

Kids movie. Kind of Goofy. I'll give it a 7.

I just saw The Darwin Awards (2006) last night on Star Movies. It was surprisingly entertaining. I mean, with the star-studded cast alone it was kind of hard not to watch. I give it a 7. I recommend others to go see it -- once is more than enough though.

5 out of 10! The movie could be better if they have more dialogue between the characters..

i wanted to see the alvin but my wife didn't want to
    also saw Napolean Dynamite

all pretty trivial but I get so serious I need something simple
    1. crkian
Alvin is good and your wife will recognize quite a few of the tunes

she won't unless it's dusty springfield and even then she'll forget her name

      I love cartoon animation
    3. aningeniousname
      Love Napoleon Dynamite, it's hilarious.

Transformers - I give it an 7.5. I really liked the graphics, but the story/acting could probably have been done better.

Just saw An American Haunting Sunday on the movie channel ..

Sweeney Todd. I'd say about a 9, but I tend to like Tim Burton films.

I love odd movies - especially those that play on the Sundance and IFC channels on directv.

Saw a very disturbing yet good movie called "12 and holding" about a group of 12 year olds that deal with death, sexual development, and a host of other pre-teen issues. Very well done.
  15. kdawg68
Oh crap - just realized this was about DVDs.

2001: A Space Odyssey, after a similar Rob Ager series of reviews as I posted above. I just had to watch it again after seeing this:

    1. kdawg68
dharma - god knows I luvs ya, buddy....but please don't compare Monty Python with that horrid Hitchhiker's Guide movie ever again. Please....I beg of you!

I'll review the last movie we paid to see, 3:10 to Yuma.

I would give it a 7. Good cowboy flick, they don't make too many anymore. Kinda slow storyline, but Russell Crowe was funny!
  20. MadameX
Sadly, Spiderman 3. I've mentioned having an 11-year-old, right?
  21. carmel2750
    I am Legend.
no stars... unless your 12 then i would give 2 star
  22. izzy69rocks
Transformers - Story was a way bit out of line though.
Not much on Megatron and Starscream.
  23. GlossGreen
I just watched The Big Lebowski and Meet The Parents. I give the Dude a 9 and the Focker a 6. Just not my type of humor.

The last flick I paid to see was 300. Star rating - 9

It was really good, especially knowing it was all shot indoors.

    Theater -

"The Savages" - "7" I like Laura Linney and Philip Seymour Hoffman, but I got tired of them as fussing siblings in this movie - in spite of the humor.

    DVD -

"Matthew Barney: No Restraint" - "10" A documentary on the making of his movie "Drawing Restraint 9" with Bjork and background on his other work. He's an interesting artist.

Aloha.. Well my latest was a screening of " Cloverfield.." My unofficial rating is 4, maybe 4.5 out of 5.. Of course when I get around to it I will add a review on Tomorrow's Entertainment..

Was it hard to watch with the camera being all over the place?

and my rating would be 8 out of 10
  28. dreesyach
I am legend. *confuse: is that vampire or zombie or both anyway?! LOL.
  29. ilovethatrecipe
Basically I watched most of the movie.

Golden Compass 9/10 -> Really like it, but is too short.

    I am Legend 7/10 -> I agree with dreesyach . Its confusing

Alien Vs Predator 2 4/10 -> Suck... There is only 1 predator VS thousand of aliens...

National Treasure 2 -> 7/10 -> Not bad . Interesting. But the plot is somehow similar to part 1

    Planning to watch
    Le Grand Chef (Korean Movie)
    Kung fu Dunk (Jay Chou)

      Nice review, Thanks.

"People will talk" with Cary Grant and Jean Crain...I try and watch it at least once a month.
  31. ghostytwofish
Watched "The Arrival" last night. 2.5 of 5 stars.

But I do appreciate the absurdity that is Charlie Sheen.
  32. Ponkotsu
Henry Fool, on DVD. I'd give it an 8/10, and odds are, depending on whether Hal Hartley's style sits well with you, it's something of a love it or hate it film. It's certainly very different, as art house cinema goes, anyway, with a strong cast, and intriguing characters and plot. More thoughtful than most movies, with a cutting, humorous edge beneath the story and dialogue.

Theater: Juno 10 out of 10 -- soooo good!

DVD: Imagine Me & You 7 out of 10

27 dresses. it was way better then i expected. i love reading movie reviews and this film was rated very poorly. like 2 stars. but i went cause of my significant other. anyway, the chemistry of the two leads is perfect. katherine heigel is a delightful actress. she's great in comedies. her faces she makes are perfect. funny and real. very talented and beautiful actress. bebebeberbebebe benny and the jet!
  36. flamingpoodle
Butterfly and Sword (8). It's a lower budget Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and a little bit better in my view.

Planet Earth I haven't seen it yet ... last movie ... hm The Lords of Dog Town,a couple of days ago. It's about surffing and skateboarding, good one - 9

  39. jamzezwebsite
    The Dark Night I give a 9
    Hancock I give it a 9

The Last Movie I watched was The Dark Night. I loved it!
  41. keropidark
Just like the last reader I saw The Dark Night. I'm not typically a batman or superhero fan but this one was good. I give it a 9. I would've gave it a 10 but I did not see the end because lightning struck and the movie theature lost power. It was at the most convenient time too, right before the final Joker battle.
  42. barryfromtexas
The Dark Knight. I would recommend it - a 9 out of 10. What is funny, our theater lost power during the movie too... but power was soon restored and I did get to see it all (the power outage was a good popcorn refill break )

    "Waiting for Sarah Marshall"
Pretty funny if you're looking for some mindless fun. Oh yeah, and the guy is totally naked in the first scene.
    1. jan4insight
      Naked guys! Woo-hoo
    2. jadeflower
In the unrated version he's naked a few times. Really unexpected and funny.
  44. LGramlich
    "In Bruges." I'd give it a 7 1/2.
  45. jan4insight
"forbidden Kingdom" with Jackie Chan and Jet Li. First time those two marital arts legends have appeared together in a movie.

    My ratings:
~out of all the marital arts movies I've seen to date: 9/10
~out of all the movies I've seen to date: 7/10

But since I really like martial arts movies that up it to 9.5/10
  46. twa2
    The Bucket List

Entertaining enough, but not something I'd usually pick for myself. I'd give it a 7.
  47. drjay1966
    Wall-E
I nearly feel asleep during the dialogue-free first half hour or so. After that it was cute.

    I'd give it a 5.
  48. robertstevenson
    Second-hand Lions,
Family flick with a twist or two: I'll give it a six.
  49. Scribblerchick
Mr. Brooks, with Kevin Costner and Demi Moore. Good flick, very interesting, but not great. Demi's character and Kevin's seem very disconnected. All the parts are there but they don't add up to a totally satisfying whole. I would recommend it, with reservations. It's pretty violent and has a couple of sexual scenes - don't watch it with small kids.

OTOH, we watched XMen 2 last night and really enjoyde it. I just have to suppress the violent urge to hold down Hugh Jackman and shave those creepy sideburns off his face.. LOL
