What was you favourite comic as a kid and why?

Mine was Spiderman, as he was geeky but cool at the same time.

The Haunted Tank? Never heard of it! Sounds great though.
    1. Moonshadow
The feature centers on the ghost of 19th-century Confederate general J.E.B. Stuart, who is sent by the spirit of Alexander the Great to act as a guardian over his two namesakes, Lieutenant Jeb Stuart (named in the early stories as Jeb Stuart Smith, but eventually just shortened to Jeb Stuart) and the Light Tank M3 Stuart that Jeb commands.

"The Haunted Tank" was often the cover feature of G.I. Combat and was second only to Sgt. Rock as DC Comics' longest-running war series.

    Spawn. Definitely my favorite 'comic'.

However I read alot of manga which are also comics, but they kind of fall into a category of their own.

    Dragon Ball, City Hunter, Basketball.

I still read Manga, and its moved me int watching alot of anime like:
Bleach, Naruto, Clannad, Claymore etc etc Soo many things to read/watch soo little time!

Alan Ford. It was popular in Italy, Germany and ex-Yugoslavia in the 80s. Anyone ever read or seen Alan Ford ?

When I was really young it was Richie Rich, Caspar & Wendy, and that whole interconnected set. A bit older, I got into Dazzler and Firestorm. I never liked the "popular" super heroes, and usually I felt bad for the comics nobody else was reading so I bought them.

Follow up question... How much did a comic book (regular 8x10 size, not digest) cost when you first started reading them? I can remember $0.25 (USD) and how annoyed I was when they jumped to 30 cents each.

    Doraemon and Kungfu Boy
    lil bit Donald Duck

As a small kid: it was Star Wars, and Micronauts at first but then I got into the X-Men. Spider-Woman was my first experience with convoluted origin stories. Later on, in my adolescence, I developed an interest in the Silver Surfer, Shade the Changing Man, and Batman.

These days, I like Green Arrow, Spider Man, and the Authority.
  17. neoauteur
Definitely Tintin & Batman. I like detective stuff.
  18. MikeFrench
    Ian Thai

I loved Shade the Changing Man, do you mean the Vertigo one, or was their an earlier version?
    1. IanThal
It's Thal-- not Thai-- I have been dealing with that confusion my whole life and spent much of my childhood taking reservations.

I meant the Vertigo version of "Shade, The Changing Man"-- I never saw the original Steve Ditko version.

    1. IanThal
      "Little LuLu" is cool.

"Dating yourself," is that a euphemism for something?
  35. IanThal
If it's written by Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, or Warren Ellis, I'll give it a chance.

Amphigorey (Edward Gorey), The Cartoon History of the Universe, Asterix, Tin Tin, these were my fathers comics. I also liked X-men, Moon Knight, and Daredevil.

If you are thinking of animated cartoons, I really liked Wiley Coyote, The Tasmanian Devil, and Scooby Doo.
