Thailand must be a great country. I've heard it is the only Southern-Asian country which wasn't occupied by European powers.
The king has many nice looking palaces. I would love to visit some of them.
And I want to play Elaphant polo

We were married on Koh Samui and dived in the new Bangkok aquairum.....Soy cowboy and co were fun for a few hours but the real beauty is on the unspoilt islands....heading up North to the Golden Triangle also worth a visit....
We loved cycling from Bangkok to Cambodias Angkor Watt!!
Awesome...
We found the Thai very gentle people - even in MAI THA! -
Your understanding correctly, not only you are discussing but also there are many places very interesting waiting you to discover there.

i'm sorry to said thailand is one of the biggest center of prostitution in the world. So many girls became prostitute and so many guys became "female"...

1. Great Food. I even manage to find lemon grass and gallangal in US to try to match that authentic taste.
2. Beautiful places, Nice people (although I did not get to talk to many)
3. Great Architecture, specially the King's Palace.
4. Most unusual thing I observed - the population density of tigers seemed to be high I saw many tigers just chained like dogs at random tourist spots.
5. Nice airline (As smooth as silk) - best airline food

I have been working in Thailand for the last fifteen years. Have to admit that for the first ten or so years i loved the place. Unfortunately, there has been an attempt by the authorities to make living here more diffcult....don't know why exactly but certaunly has created headaches for us expats.
Anyway, i have just joined blog catalog and have a daily blog about Thailand that's focuses on investing in the stockmarket and politics.

I like Thailand. I've been there last March. I visited some of the famous places like Wat Arun, Wat Pho, Wat Mahathat, etc... The Golden Palace and Floating Market are great, too! And, of course the food in Khaosan Road.. It's a great place to visit! Just be careful with the tuktuk and taxi drivers because some of them are deceivers.

love thailand! food is superb!!! loveee the tom yang koong there, so hot, sour and spicy at the same time. very few thai restaurants outside thailand are really that brave in all the spices, just to adjust to the liking of local people.
beaches are great. but luv the transexual show. it's unbeatable. the transexuals are amazingly sooooo beautifulll and so much like a woman. they all so pretty, after the show is over, even all my guy frens rushed to take photos with the transexuals. lol -
loveable country with nice scenery
exotic places
i wonder why would Thailand very famous with its transvestite, transsexual ?
is it because of they are so many there or the shows or they are much prettier than real women lol

I had surgery in Bangkok early this year and recovered in a quiet hotel. I never felt any less safe walking on the street at night than I would here in Orange County. People there were generally good-hearted and were helpful in helping a vegetarian like me find food that wasn't either laced with meat or loaded up with a lot of spices. And one even taught me how to wai properly.
I did not visit one of the temples. Nor did I tour as I was preoccupied with recovery. But I noticed one thing about the soul of the people as a beloved princess had recently died. The outpouring of love the people had for their ruling family was truly moving. -
only been to bangkok but had a wonderful time
beautiful temples
good, cheap food
great shopping and massages
kind people
good nightlife
would love to go back

I love Thailand and have been many times. The people are great and friendly, food is great.....
But what I hear recently about Thailand is all bad news and makes Thailand look pretty bad - an Australian author has been jailed for "lese majeste", Burmese refugees were put on barges and made to leave Thailand practically being condemned to death, the airport strikes...all looks very bad for thailand.
I would think twice about going to Thailand right now as much as the idea of relaxing on a Thai beach does sound great.-
The situation here is NOT that bad as media report!! Don't need to believe them that much .. every country has its own political system, social structure, rules and laws, foreigners shall learn to "Respect" the cultures and traditions etc when they come to here ... Indeed, Thailand is a great place to visit (at least come once in one's lifetime).. :-)

I am not sure what you mean by the media making things out to be bad. Lots of tourists were stuck in Bangkok thanks to the shutdown by protestors. That's not going to encourage people to visit.
The example of the Thai treatment of the the Burmese refugees is fact and is frankly quite reprehensible.
I know from my visits to Thailand how the Thais revere their king and most people respect that. The writer in question had written about the Crown prince in a fictionalised form very loosely and that's what he was imprisoned for. Frankly it makes Thailand look pretty silly as a country.
I can only imagine that this must be hurting the Thai economy and the people quite badly coupled with the global economy. Thats a real shame and I hope things stabilise soon. I would love to visit again.
