Some of you know I'm in Alaska...

Anyhow - coming back from my camping trip over the 4th weekend ---- wonderful 5 days of bliss out in the middle of nowhere.... ahhhh - close enough to come home daily to check on the critters and shower - but rush right back out...

Anyhow - coming back from that camping - I learn that my Governor decided to jump ship.

OK - she resigned.

I mean - I can literally understand WHY she did it...

And I can understand that maybe - truthfully - for the good of Alaska - it was the right move.

But - that says a lot about WOMEN, Politics, Alaska - Giving UP - Choosing Wisely and Rash Choices.

Regardless if you supported her in any way - or disliked her... Palin is definitely an interesting person.

But to choose to step down from such a position...

That takes a LOT of guts.

The lady was under the gun - and while I think... she did some things incorrectly - I am NOW begining to wonder...

TrooperGate...

I stood staunchly behind the Troopers - and believed Palin to be in the wrong. I knew the people involved.

But VERY recently - some things have happened in my life involving the same people in TrooperGate...

And I know that they ARE wrong.

I know that things are NOT what they seem.

That there are LIES... Coverups and more.

So...

Knowing this.

Maybe I've actually changed my opinion on TrooperGate.

Which means...

Maybe - just maybe - I've changed my opinion of Sarah Palin.

And Maybe... Just maybe... After seeing every penny being spent on the Ethics Complaints... mostly done by people who are in a political position to try and jockey for the same political seat...

And my eyes being popped open by my own experiences...

And watching Palin step down - so that she doesn't waste Taxpayer Money...

And waste precious time...

Maybe she's a helluva a better person than I gave her credit for.

Do you ever have life experience that changes the face of your opinions that USED to be so strong in one direction - to do a complete about face?

Well - now that Palin has resigned...

I'm thinking - I've just done an about face - due to my experiences.

And I'm thinking - Alaska is probably not as "clean" and as "pristine" as I once thought it was.

And now I'm wondering if Money isn't at the bottom of everything ---- like as in... "the root of all evil"...

So - that's What Palin's Resignation has made me think...

What about you?

The general consensus from both sides (Dem and Republican) is that she has made a major mistake. Personally, I am overjoyed she is sabotaging her own political career as it makes way for far more qualified women in the GOP to rise. Libby Dole anyone?

Also, I read this the other day and I thoroughly agree with it. If a man had Sarah Palin's record of lies, resignation after resignation and ethics probes, would he ever have gotten a second glance from the GOP at a national level? Or if Sarah Palin wasn't a beauty queen and was instead a 60 year old, Hispanic woman struggling with a weight problem, would she have been offered the vice presidential nomination?

"far more qualified women in the GOP to rise. Libby Dole anyone?"

sadly, like most liberals/progressives/centrists/moderates, you are thinking about this logically

to become a hot comodity in the GOP, you need to have put in some time "casting out demons"

Sarah Palin has yet to complete a single term in ANY of the political offices she has occupied. NOT ONE! She resigned from every single position from Mayor of Wasilla to Governor of Alaska. She also has made several of her early supporters into outspoken opponents.

Hmmm, why would that happen? Why would people who helped her get elected to Alaskan government not speak out openly against her?
    3. wagerwitch
      I don't think she's all "that" pretty.
    4. Agit8r
but hey, back in her beauty pagent days

ok, not so much then either...

    "Gone Fishing"?

There's a thread (or three) about this over on the political discussion board
  4. melindaville
I just hope she crawls away in a hole somewhere and leaves us alone! Somehow, I don't think I'm going to get my wish.

I think she did it because she didn't want to be stuck way up there in AK. I bet you any amount of money that this woman is going to move to WaDC very soon. She is all about self-promotion. I do think she's made a huge mistake--I think it will backfire on her.

Not that she would have had a chance of winning the presidency if she'd remained. She's WAY too stupid to fool people for that long. Most people already see her for the dim witted ninny that she is!

But I guess you can tell I have no opinion whatsoever on Palin!
    1. Stillthinking
I don't know if that's necessarily true. A gallip poll/USA Today said that 7/10 Republicans surveyed AFTER her resignation said they would still vote for her. Goes to show, party loyalty and partisanship mean more to a lot of people than country.
    2. timethief
        [extreme sarcasm]
She can now go wild in the right ring media, among those in the pack of shock jocks and pitbulls, who will eagerly assist her attempts to present herself as a misunderstood victim (cough). Then she can have a ghost writer publish a book for her and she can put on her lipstick and bark, whine and howl at book release parties all over America. Surely all those folks who attend churches that have services for "casting out witches" like she does will gladly purchase a copy or even two thereby enhancing her retirement income.
        [/extreme sarcasm]
    3. Stillthinking
The general consensus is also that there was pressure from unknown sources within the GOP for Palin to resign. Both sides think she is lying through her teeth about her reasons for resigning.
    4. melindaville
@ST--I thought you said (above) that both the dems and repubs thought it was a big mistake? I was in Maine all last week, as many of you know--and we have no TV up there and don't get the paper. We also didn't have Internet so I didn't even know she had resigned until we returned.

@TT and ST: The right wing nutjobs on the far right will still support her--but the U.S. isn't primarily wing nuts (thank the Goddess). I think she's buried herself politically. As far as her book goes, I doubt it will pay the massive legal feels she has incurred--although Jesus might help her! I admit, I'm bad!
    5. Stillthinking
I'm sorry. I meant party commentators both conservative and democrat. Joe the Plumber would still vote for her though along with all those hockey moms.
    6. melindaville
Actually, ST--I disagree--mainstream America will NOT vote for Palin. They rejected her mightily for VP--the only people who got on her bandwagon are the extreme right wingnuts. Thank goodness the majority of the country does not fall under that category.

How many moderate republicans switched alliance to vote for Obama--and the SOLE reason was because of Palin's addition to the Rep. ticket. She blew her wad with that one campaign.

      She's so 15 minutes ago.

      Seriously.
    7. Stillthinking
      I hope you're right!
    8. timethief
I also hope you are right, but I predict that we have yet to hear the last bark from this ... erm .. dog.
    9. melindaville
@TT--I am not too much of a lady to call it as I see it. That's not just a dog--that's a (ahem) bitch,

@ST--she's not got a chance--although I DO hope she runs and gets the nom because that will pretty much seal Obama's second 4 years in office. The country's ready for a woman--just not an idiot woman!
    10. wagerwitch
I don't know if she is lying any more...

I know that I got to see some of the paperwork involved.

(and I'm sorry - don't mean to be a 'sure I've been there - but can't talk about it person' - but I can't talk about it... at least not right now...)

Anyhow... With that knowledge that I have.

Without judging Palin on her Political Stances.

NOTE: I don't agree with some of the things she does or stands for.

(makes note to self - get back on track)

With seeing some of the things that I HAVE seen - especially in light of some of the things that I am PERSONALLY going through...

Which involves a lot of the same people...

      It made me question...

      Specifically TROOPERGATE.

Was what Palin going through LITERALLY concocted and a bunch of lies put in place to discredit her?

Regardless of what I think about her personally.... or Politically...

TrooperGate has cost the STATE a large amount of money - in a time where money is of the essence.

But - there IS a LOT of Money in Alaska.

And some of it hasn't even been tapped yet.

But Money is quite possibly the root of what is going on with Palin...

      Bear with me...

I know that the people in TrooperGate have lied about something that I am INTIMATELY involved in currently.

If they are lying in the instance that I am involved in...

Would it be a safe bet for me to say that they lied about TrooperGate?

If they are lying about TrooperGate...

And they have been pressuring Palin.... Doesn't that stand to reason that maybe there is something wrong?

Don't be mistaken - TrooperGate is a VERY big - BIG - issue, and the ethics complaints behind everything is ALSO a very big issue.

However - all of the people involved with the Ethics complaint - AND with TrooperGate - are now currently jockeying for the same Political Seat.

      So...

With the complaints costing the State time and money --- Keeping Palin from doing anything other than fighting them... and paying for them both personally and out of the State Coffers...

It is definitely the correct move to step down - instead of continuing to drain the money from the State.

But - my main meaning of this discussion was...

Knowing that she is stepping down - without knowing every single detail - doesn't that make you wonder...

What is REALLY behind it all?

Has it gotten down to death threats?

You'd have to understand TrooperGate - and maybe Veco a bit to maybe get what I'm saying... But - I'm thinking... maybe this is getting TOO dirty.

      Too Nasty...

      Too much about MONEY...

and not about what is RIGHT or Wrong.
    11. Stillthinking
I don't know what you have seen as far as Troopergate, but I am sure you have your reasons for believing that she is telling the truth.

Regardless, I think the Republican party needs to get it's act together, reinvent itself, and support women in the party who are qualified and intelligent. Also, a little less holiness would be great too. Then, it wouldn't smack of hypocrisy when governor after governor after senator after congressman resigns over a scandal involving adultery or a homosexual affair.
  5. LolitaV
she is an IDIOT!!! I am glad her 15minutes are halfway up (because we all know there is a book &tv show I won't read or watch in the works)
  6. jan4insight
What I think: Good riddance to bad rubbish. Now if only she'll stay away!!!!
  7. wagerwitch
ROFLMAO - OK oh boy - color me stupid.

    (why? You ask...)

Because I did NOT know there was a POLITICAL forum --- ROFLMAO...

I wasn't thinking this particular conversation as political - LOL - I know... Yeah - it's about Palin... but it was more about what her resignation made me think about...

And so I didn't click on the "starting a political discussion" link...

And since I've never clicked on that link... I didn't realize that politics had been separated out of ALL Discussions.

Now - I'm feeling entirely STUPID.

It's ok - you can laugh at me...
    1. wagerwitch
So - HOW do I get to the Political Discussion Forum - and why isn't religion like that... And why isn't there like a LINK to that in the ALL discussion forum?

      That's silly.

      Or am I missing something??

      (like half a brain.)
    2. dcarroll
Some people say that since I have half a brain that my humor is from a half wit.
    3. wagerwitch
      LMAO - D... Ok... I like that.
    4. timethief
      @wagerwitch
The link to the Political Issues forum is on the front page of BC. Click the word "blog catalog" (silver in color) on the top left hand corner of this page to arrive on the front page.

The Politics button is big,it's blue, and it's on the right hand side of the page. www.blogcatalog.com/politics

After the recent upgrade of the site to 5.0 the button that used to appear in the sidebar in this General Discussion forum did not "fit" and it has not yet been replaced with one that does.
    5. wagerwitch
      Ayuh - thank you TT.

Just never saw it before - so really appreciate it.
  8. dcarroll
Only Sarah Palin knows the whys. She is also the only one that could correctly weigh the risks and rewards.

The old saw applies, "When the negative outweighs the positive, the relationship is over." Works in marriages, businesses--everything. She made the decision she thought best.

I've never been a fan of Palin, but I have no opinion on her recent resignation.
  9. exit2013
Personally i'm not all that crazy about Palin. She could have at least finished her term as Governor. This makes her look like a quitter.
    1. wagerwitch
I think she was kinda forced out - and forced into this resignation state.
  10. satijournal
I think she got tired of politics (since she doesn't have the "department of law" protecting her as governor). She's 1/2 million dollars in debt and knows she can earn a lot of money on the speaking circuit, selling her book, and possibly having a talk show on Fox.

    It's a purely self-centered move.
    1. melindaville
      Bingo!

***ding ding ding--we have a winner folks!***
    2. exit2013
      Good point!

    Absolutely correct.

I don't think much of either party right now.

Maybe it's time to be DONE with the Party Affiliates and just go for someone we believe can do the job - based on their qualifications and capabilities - and promises...

Anyhow - in my instance, it involves evidence that doesn't exist - miraculously existing. I KNOW for a FACT it cannot exist. But yet... it does. There are some other things - but that is probably the meat and potatoes.

So someone is lying - and I know it isn't me.

    IF... If... I know this...

And I know that it is happening to myself/others... Then why could it NOT be happening to Palin, since it involves the very same people?

There are a ton more - Before - in December I had access to internal documents that weren't exactly public info - but COULD be found by the Public through the right means. So I got to see a lot of the information.

I know Wooten personally - therefore always believed in him... However...

In recent times - I'm wondering if this was all used to coerce her out of a position of power... instead of being "TRUE".

    Does that make sense?
  12. SweetViolet
When all is said and done, I don't think it matters if Troopergate turns out to be true or not, since it is far from the sole objection to her as a political leader. Personally, I was less disturbed by Troopergate than I was at her attempt to purge the public library of books she personally found objectionable.

She's vain, self-centred, and lacks perseverance, ethics and intelligence. If Troopergate is not true, it should be publicized as widely as were the accusations were...but it won't change my opinion of Palin as an undesirable in the politics of America.
