the authors selfexpression and represantion of his/her content is vvhat i like to see mirrored in appealing design, usability, teasing headlines, pictures, nice finds, challenging topics. * i see alot of the persons purpose and character in the blog posts and in his comments in blogcatalog discussions :-) and on other blogs. * i´ll subscribe if i feel approached in a lovely and committing vvay. * by far i disagree that a blog is equal to a nevvspaper. daily updates aren´t a must for me. i prefer seeing as first post on a blog a tag cloud / updated titel or keyvvord post i can brovvse. (vvhat do you think about this idea of promotion and teasing)
hope that helps.
sincerely yours veryheaven -
Content is king. Everything else is just confusing. I want to know right off some sense of who the blogger is and what they're blogging for/about. If it's clearly just for money, then I'm away...engage me with something, some snip of your day, or some project you're working on, some recent experience you've had.
For example, I'd rather read a blog that talks about the fun and franticness of preparing for a dinner party with friends, with maybe a recipe attached near the end. Just a recipe on its own will rarely hold my attention.
Really, tho, even with content, it has to be something that appeals to me personally...there are some topics I couldn't care less about.
If your content's engaging, then as a blogger myself, I realize that sometimes you just can't post everyday, and I don't mind checking back a couple of times before a new entry.
I never subscribe...there's already too much in my email box. Blog surfing is something I do for fun, and because I start to feel a sense of community with the person who's content draws me back. -
I usually subscribe after one or two posts. I figure I can always unsubscribe if I dislike their other content later. I rarely visit a site unless I have a comment after subscribing and never click on any ads.

Well written, positive message.
Brief stories with photos.
Must be inspiring, thought provoking and practical.
I link to blogs and refer to them in my class, so I also search for content that my students can appreciate and enjoy.
I am loyal to the blog and the bloggers when I sense something genuine in their writing, no pretense and no hype for the sake of hype. When their words resonate within me, I am hooked... -
well, I will visit a blog repeatedly when the owner is featured in an AOL article. I have learned alot from these types of blogs and find myself referring to them on a regular basis.
The content is very important. It is nice when the content speaks from personal experience rather then telling you that you should try "Program A" simply because the author said so.
