I'm looking for some new shows to write about, and I was wondering what your favorite TV show is?

My favorites (not counting ones that are no longer airing new episodes) are Lost, House, Bones, Monk, and Criminal Minds.

House is so stupid, it's just a rude, drug-addicted doctor with a cane up his ass who bosses people around and spends most of his time in a stupor.

Bones is gay too, that guy was better off playing a vampire on "Angel". Not to mention that chick is ugly, and what's the deal with that hot asian hitching up with that douchebag? It just seems like there are entire episodes revolved around that.

Monk just stereotypes hypochondriacs and people with anxiety and turns it into a comedy show. Not to mention every show is like the previous one.

Would you mind explaining to me how a television show can be "gay?" Isn't that a description a person in the age range of 12-14 would give a show?

And, by the way, the Monk character is not a hypochondriac, he's an obsessive compulsive. Yes, there is a difference.

Sounds to me like House isn't the only one with something up his ass.

I've seen lost and criminal minds, both great shows. But I haven't reviewed the other ones. I'll have to look at them. So they're still airing new episodes?

They are in the off season right now, but they do still air new episodes in the on season. Monk is actually starting a new season on July 18th.

About a year ago I stopped watching TV, and have been VERY positive since!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I prefer films to television. But since I write a newspaper article each week with a review of a TV show, it's important for me to know what's going on.

Any shows you think are so bad they should be cancelled?

As long as I don't have to look at Family Guy, I'm a happy camper.

I miss when MTV used to be cool. Anyone remember liquid television, 120 minutes, beavis and butthead, ren and stimpy, sifl and olly, trigger happy tv, cartoon sushi, headbangers ball, and the others i left out?

Headbanger's Ball with ricki rathman...never missed it!!!
    2. riverstyxxx
Sigh. Yeah, the days of Aeon Flux and White Zombie videos are long gone.

I used to love going on vacation as a kid so I could watch MTV in the hotel room!

Mmhmm, my dad never let me watch it, so I did what I could to skirt around that rule.

Comedy central is still cool, except for that no-talent assface Mencia. Can't wait for more south park, and reno 911 is still hilarious.

Best show of all time though? Trailer Park Boys Love that show so much.

I there a particular demograph that you are shooting for?

Not really, I'm just looking for shows I haven't seen or written about. And it's great to hear what people like and what they don't like.
    1. riverstyxxx
Trailer Park Boys, you won't regret it. Most people in the states don't know about it since it's a canadian show. The only attention we saw was HBO offering to buy the rights, and they did put the movie into a few theaters here.

There's like 6 or 7 seasons plus 2 movies, a few specials and the entire cast are celebrities up there.

There are a couple of HBO shows I've been meaning to check out. Including "In Treatment."
    1. riverstyxxx
Yep, that's a good show too. It's been out for a while, so you're in luck.

House, Top Chef, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Chimp Eden, No Reservations.

      That's two votes for House.

I love The Office, especially the British version with Ricky Gervais.
    1. stayfamous
I still haven't seen the British version of The Office, but as far as the American version goes, it has to be one of the top comedies on TV right now. It never ceases to make me laugh.
  13. Anniepooh
Oh yeah, Robot Chicken, Family Guy and Simpsons, too.
    1. stayfamous
      What is Robot Chicken?
    2. RTBjr73
My Uncle on the dance floor.
    3. Anniepooh
It's a Seth Green show--stop-time animation and just flat out silliness and raunchy humor.
    4. riverstyxxx
Robot Chicken is by the same nitwits who write family guy. You're not missing anything.

It just follows the same "Lets take everyone else's exact ideas and plots" formula.

Raunchy humor..That's just what the worlds needs more of. Family Guy and RC do their best to not offend their viewers...So no, it's not raunchy humor.
    5. Anniepooh
      Hardly. To each his own.

What ever happened to originality? I'm getting tired of the talent competitions. (Even though I do really enjoy a couple of them.)
    1. Anniepooh
I like Top Chef, but it's starting to get old. I don't like any of the others.

I've been thinking of writing a review about a cooking show. But I'm wondering how I can do it in a way that's interesting to readers. I mean I don't want to just say, the food looked good and here's what they used in their recipe.

I missed America's Got Talent last night, and I'm wondering how it went.
    1. riverstyxxx
If it's any consolation: The winners/losers of American Idol end up in a money pit and always lose out. The voting system is extremely flawed and the artists never end up selling enough records to stay with their label. You'd think those people would learn otherwise, but being on tv is just one of those american dreams that apparently still drives people.

I'm amazed at these audition/singing competition shows, because people are willing to exploit themselves for a moment of attention, and they don't seem to have a concept of their dispensibility. I was thinking about it though and I guess they had variety shows when TV first started too. People have always loved embarassing themselves in front of a camera.
    3. riverstyxxx
Let's put it another way: More people vote on American Idol then in the presidential election. That should tell you where everyone's priorities are.
    4. stayfamous
Either that, or maybe they should let you text your vote for president.
    5. riverstyxxx
That was suggested in english class. It'll happen eventually

    Jon Stewart - Daily Show
    1. stayfamous
Good suggestion. He actually has some political influence too doesn't he?
  17. stayfamous
Well if anybody thinks of any other shows they think are good and worth me taking a look at, let me know. And if I write a review for the newspaper on it, I'll do my best to send you the link.

Dexter. The best show on TV - all about a serial killer who only takes out those who deserve it. Twisted stuff, incredible writing, interesting characters. You actually end up rooting for the serial killer not to get caught. Crazy. Originally airsd on Showtime - completed Season 2 - but CBS ran season one this past Spring.
    1. stayfamous
I wonder if CBS will continue with it.

Looks like I've got a lot of suggestions here. I'm going to be watching a lot of television!
