I have never Twittered. Or Tweeted. Or whatever people call it.

What is so great about it?

Is it worth it? (I haven't even gone to the site yet).

yeah, kinda looks like one more way to shorten the average attention span i love technology and work in the field, but sometimes i resist things for awhile. tweeting the twitterati is one of them...

you can text for everything, unlike the sms, followers can see your text too, and they also can reply on you, if you have a large audience, then it could likely be a big huge open discussion of yours. compared to feed, twitter is in a way much faster. When you update, it means update, NOW and no queuing... and you can tweet for almost everything from rss to various links (eg: music, photos, youtube..). Tq.

also in viewing for the larger audience, you can always jumping from one follower to another.

Twitter has a huge broadcast potential and many bloggers are using it to effectively promote their blogs, and marketers are using it to promote their products and services. You can also earn from Magpie through Twitter from advertising.

Basically twitter provides an opportunity for bloggers and marketers to connect and to befriend each other. They can then build a huge "empire" of contacts with whom they share links to their posts. The "followers" then re-tweet the links to others and the result is greater exposure. It also means that the former ways of gaining authority for good writing such as through comments, subscribers and comments are being replaced by authority based on broadcast coverage.
Is the real ultimate goal of social media to get to the broadcast position?

I'm not a fan of Twitter myself, but I keep an eye on it from time to time. Most of the people in the video game industry tend to throw out article tips and information, so I like to keep an eye on that. I don't bother updating mine though. It's already hard enough keeping up with Facebook and Myspace.

I got rid of my Twitter account last week. It was a real pain to use.

I'm considering deleting mine too. I don't use it for blog promotion
and don't have much time to chat.

I know it is supposed to help promote your blog and it is a way to network. So far it hasn't helped me, but I probably haven't utilized it properly.

I have been registered with twitter for almost two years. BUT it was just this weekend that I got HOOKED! LOVE IT! Especially the search feature ... PLUS ... if you are looking to increase your traffic ... you can find people who might be interested in your content.

HOWEVER, if you are one of these who want people so you can make the ponies ... not sure the twitter folk will appreciate.

Twitter is fun, and it's nice to know people are awake out there any time of the day or night.

I got hooked only because I recently discovered I can get breaking news way before it makes it in the paper or on TV. I'm a news junkie and Twitter is perfect for that purpose.

It does nothing for me as far as blog promotion, but have "met" some nice folks all the while.

Yup, the news feeds are the only saving grace. I would take a few seconds to type in a message and it doesn't appear till 5 minutes later. I get better results with posts here.

If you do it right it gives you traffic and has given me "Cash"

    What's so great about Twitter?

Imagine you are deep in the desert; the water's running out and your cellphone is dying. You have just enough juice to the satellite uplink to send one brief text message. No problem, you already spent endless minutes on Twitter perfecting your 140 character messages.

The result is you get home safe and twitter about it for weeks and you are a Hero/Heroine

I haven't found a real, good reason to use it. But then, I'm very new to the site. I'm keeping an open mind.

Imagine this, you are one among all of the university students, then you all create tis one group from twitter... among you and your peers (with all of your classmate). Someday you did just don't understand something, and ask randomly "hey how to solve this Dr. Phil mad science question? and maybe your friend can help you, give you a clue or their opinion in answering that question". Wow if that happens to be true, twitter will be quiet useful. and if the lecturers also take their part in such group, no doubt somebody could redefined the learning process up to a much better level. and imagine if peoples from the industry also take part on that kind of twitter group, that maybe could create phenomenon in learning... and of course then the learning is no longer dull, learning then can be fun and interactive like sending sms to your own girlfriend.

I like twitter, I can reach people that are in my specific market and I can get things like breaking and local news. I use it more like a blog feed more then anywhere else actually.

I mostly tweet conversationally with people I know, though I do promote my blog posts via tweets. And I have met a Lot of new people since I began twittering. Seems to me anything that increases your Real circle of friends and acquaintances is a Good Thing.

I joined but it doesn't really appeal to me.
Could be because I haven't taken the time to utilize the site
    the way I should.

I can't think of anything...It seems a total waste of my time.
