I keep my computer in the sock drawer. It's in fine condition after twenty-some years. Time to go download some word processor files off my floppy disks.

I personally use AVG Free for antivirus. I've been using this program for years and have not had any virus related problems on any of my computers. On the spyware end of things, I am using AdAware and Ad-Watch Monitor.

Also, to keep my computer clean, I use CC Cleaner to help clean up registry errors and delete unnecessary cache, etc.

I have seen this list over and over!

But in the end decided that the best way to be safe is to change the whole OS (Windows, or even Mac) into something more safer which you could control and mess around with freely!

For why use Freeware (1/2 free actually) security software, when you can shift into an Open Source (Completely Free) , fast, safe, Always evolving Linux Desktop!

Free AVG is good if you want an anti virus program.

Any common popular anti virus would be fine, It's just a tool anyway. Be sure to update them frequently.

Be sure to scan for viruses before opening file that comes from other computer.

Don't intend to open any suspicious files.

    Turn off every automatic/live updates.

Never download any torrent unless you prepare for any viruses that my come along the file.
